Friday's Fave Five #332

Just a note to any new folks who have joined in, if I haven't commented on your post at some point in the weekend or beginning of the week, it's because you probably are using a commenting format that just will not let me comment for some reason.  If you leave a comment here, I can reply back with email  concerning your post but not with a published comment.  I'm sorry about that.  I have no idea what to do.  I have googled it endlessly, and have no answers other than you changing the format you use.  So once again, I apologize for that but please don't let it stop you from joining in!

Welcome everyone.  It's time for Friday's Fave Five.  Find your five favorite blessings from the week and share them with us!

1.  Inserts.  Since last October I have developed plantar fasciatis in one of my feet.  Can we say "OUCH"!  It's been horrible.  Finally, I was able to get some orthodics and in one day what a difference!  This is definitely a fave for me because it seriously was affecting my everyday life and my knee was even beginning to have issues because of walking wonky to try and tamp down the pain.   So hopefully with the stretches and the shoe inserts that correct the way I stand and absorb that shock I can beat this darn thing and get back to normal.

2.  Restful Sunday.  We took a day off this Sunday and just stayed home.  Hubby hasn't been feeling well and I just needed a day where I could just relax. I didn't even look at the clock until past noon.  How great it was to have coffee, read and not have to be somewhere by a certain time.

3.  Neighbor yard clean up.  We have some young fellas that live next door and lets just say their priority is not the lawn.  Weeds and dandelions usually grow quite high before they do anything about it.  Very frustrating because we take care of our property and it irks me to no end to see all those dandelions going to seed.  But yesterday there was someone there working all day on the lawn and even the flower beds.  It looks wonderful now and hopefully that will inspire them to keep going and take better care of the property.

4.  Fresh rain.  A few showers did wonders at greening everything up around here.  It was getting pretty dry.  Lots of forest fires all over Alberta to the point where they even had a province wide fire ban so that rain was really needed.  And it makes everything smell wonderful!

5.  New book from my favorite author.  I've been able to get crack open and get into my fave author's newest release and it's not disappointing.  He always puts my emotions through the wringer in his stories so I can't wait to see how this one plays out.

What have been your favorite things from your week?

Ow! My friend has the same foot problems and she gains so much relief from her special shoes and inserts. I hope it helps you!
I love those lazy, relaxing days--sometimes we just need them. I hope hubby is feeling better because of the rest.

Good inserts can really help ! Mr. G. had also a problem with his feet and now he walks normally again !
I also have a neighbor who does nothing in his yard ! It's a real jungle ! When I tell him to please cut at least the trees a bit, he says yes I'll do it, but this is at least 3 years ago !

oh dear. i had plantar fasciitis last summer and the pain/ healing didnt come until late September for me!! i got it from wearing flat shoes and dancing on cement floor of a cruise we were on down the Hudson river. you orobably remember me asking for prayer. well, between the power of orayer and the ultrasound therapy i had on it from my amazing chiropractor, i am totally pain free and the tendon is back to normal. i recommend Rock Tape( available online) to wrap the foot while healing. WAY better than inserts and highly recommend by chiros and PTs. get the real Rock Tape. the other stuff is copycat and you will just waste your money. also ask your chiro for specific massage therspy to stretch the fascia bone and ask for the ultrasound therapy.. your insurance should cover it. I will pray!! can ya tell i can feel your pain??
enjoy that book and i hope you have another relaxing weekend!

The plantar fasciatis sounds awful. Glad the inserts are helping and hope your foot feels better soon.

It's good your neighbors got their yard cleaned up - hope it continues.

Glad you got some rain! I've read a couple of Charles Martin's books and need to catch up with some of the rest of them.

Susanne, I am so sorry to hear about your plantar fasciatis. I've never been bothered with it, but I know others who have and am told that it is very painful. I'm glad the orthodics are helping!

And, don't we all need a day now and then to just relax and not have to worry about being anywhere! Glad you got some rest.

Love the fragrance after a rain! Praying you have a lot more of it.

It has been great to be back today. I've had some health issues and I just need to put some things on hold for a while. Blogging was one of them.

Have a wonderful weekend!

So pleased the orthotics are making such a difference for you. Yay!
Sounds like both you and your husband needed some down time. And how nice to get some rest together.
I can sympathize with your neighbor situation. It doesn't take but a couple of unkempt places to bring a neighborhood down. What a nice change to see some care and attention.

Oh, I have learned to regard Charles Martin as one of my favorite authors, too!

I'm so glad you had a restful Sunday. For me, and all those in leadership, it seems like Sundays are our most busy and stressful days, and I know it is not supposed to be like that. Two things I do to help Sundays easier: we eat out so I don't have to cook, and we take a Sunday afternoon nap.

Glad you took Sunday off! That's great that the house next door got some TLC! Ouch about your feet and glad you can get relief! Have a great weekend.

I have "been there, done that" with the Plantar Fasciatis. No fun. Glad the inserts and stretching are helping. Yes, every now and then we need a day off just to rest and relax! Sundays are a good day for some "down time." God knew what he was doing when he made the Sabbath a "day of rest." Glad you are getting some rain. We've had some here as well. Will look for a review on that new book! I got my first book to review (from Bethany House) and am excited to finish it and write my review. Have a great weekend!

It's so good to catch up with how you're doing, Susanne. I am finally back to blogging, hope I can keep it up. I'm sorry that PF is something else we have in common! Inserts and the stretching have helped me so much. Also, Sketchers brand shoes are the greatest! I have several pairs.

I'll have to look in to the new Charles Martin book!
