A mountain that literally broke.
Driving up towards it you can see how the front face of it has slid away.
But you don't realize the extent of it until you are looking at it face on. They actually ran the highway right through it.

So when you look on the other side of the highway, this is the scene. That's my teens climbing the boulders. They are huge and you cannot see the end of this boulder bed. At 4 in the morning part of a town, mines, and 2 kim of railway track were buried under this disaster which happened in 1903.

Nice shots of broken.
Cool...and weird how MOther Nature works...and how man works it too!
Your pics is what makes photo hunt so fun, each person has such a different perspective! I must participate one of these days! :)
You did a great job with the theme. The shots are great and what a beautiful broken mountain it is.
WoW~ those are some rocks.
That must be amazing, not only the sight of the mountain, but knowing what happened!
Thank you for your visit earlier. :)
Great theme for "broken". I was hoping to start participating in this meme this weekend on my photo blog but I was thinking it was on Sundays for some reason! I'll join next week! One thing that is going to make it a little hard for me is that on my blog I post a picture each day that was taken that day. I don't post things from the past, so let's hope I can hunt down something "cuddly" to shoot next Saturday! Great Pics!
What a great idea you came up for the theme.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Our power outage had some great fun moments, like Sadir (our boxer) and my husband. I thought it was the funniest thing when I woke up and saw trying to crawl up in the chair with him. The picture still makes me laugh out loud.
Have a wonderful Valentine's Day. Blessings.
I love your take on this weeks theme. I also hope your friend awaiting the transplant does great/ If she needs someone to talk with that has been there, send her my way for some encouragement.
This is a brilliant post my friend. I would have never ever thought of something like that. Well done. Have a wonderful Sunday and Happy Valentine's Day :)
broken mountain! wow!
When a mountain breaks... it breaks BIG!
That is a really cool idea for this theme, very unique.
Whoa! That mountain reached the breaking point! Excellent choice for today. I'm going to go read more about it.
I'm late in visiting everyone for Photo Hunters, but better late than never! Have a wonderful week.
Great photo and great take on the theme.
This is an incredible story. Disasters happen everywhere. How sad for their families that so many are still buried in the rubble.
The photos are awesome. I can't imagine the power of that much rock coming down.
Great "broken" subject -- interesting AND it produced wonderful pictures to boot. :)
And it is said faith can move mountains! This time I'd say faith will keep them surviving....tragic but you did a great post!
Amazing. I guess they are not afraid more of it will break off?
That's a very interesting post and a great take on the theme Susanne!
