One Lonely Little Flower

Photo Hunt ~ Triangle

Photo Hunt theme for today is TRIANGLE.  I knew right away where my inspiration for looking for the picture would be and that is mountains.  I love the mountains.  And  triangles just seem to naturally pop up in that setting.

This big triangle shaped rock is in the field of rocks at Frank Slide in the Crowsnest Pass where in the early 1900's literally a mountain broke in half and slid down covering mines and portions of a town.  The boulders are huge and it's hard to imagine how a mountain can split in half like that.

This triangle mountain is somewhere when you are entering Banff National Park coming from BC.

This mountain in the shape of a triangle sits at Waterton Lakes International Peace Park.

And this cloud tipped one is in the Roger's Pass in British Columbia.

And because I just can't quit with this theme...

Photo Hunter ~ Dirty

Today's photo hunter theme is dirty.  The opportunity for the picture presented itself in a split second when I called my dog to come for a ride in the car.  He came bounding up to the patio door.   Dirty.   And there he stood, happily looking at me for me to let him in so he could come for a ride.  After the shock I could do nothing else but to run and get the camera.

Needless to say, he stayed on the other side of the screen and did not get his car ride until he had a bath to take him from dirty back to clean.

Photo Hunter ~ Road

Boy, I've missed participating in Photo Hunter.  It's been awhile.  But hopefully I can get back to it in on a regular basis again. Today's theme is "Road".  I've got just the perfect picture for it.  One my regular reader's saw this past Thursday.  And though you may think it was taken in a past winter it was actually taken Thursday morning after we woke up to a huge, wet blizzard of spring snow.  Gotta love Southern Alberta!

The Never Ending Story, It Seems

Hello and welcome to Living to Tell the Story.
What is my story, you ask?

Well, I'll give you a hint.
These pictures are not from this past winter.

They were indeed taken early this morning.

This April 14th morning.

My story is snow.

And lots of it, branch breaking, heavy, wet snow.

I must admit, though, it is all my fault.

I take full responsibility.

You see, I sent all the snow suits home with the dayhome kids early this week.

And I had the audacity to pack away the shovels.

Shhh, but don't tell anyone here.

I think it's absolutely beautiful.

Stunningly gorgeous.

He, however, is not impressed.

Sweet Shot Tuesday January Week 1

I've been busy reading this week.  Reading God's Word, reading my camera manual for dummies, reading my 2 new cookbooks and reading my regular reads and review reads.  Whew.  That's a lot of reading, but I love it.  This year I'm really going to try and read through the bible in one year.  Is that a resolution?  'Cause I don't do resolutions, you know.  Let's say it's a goal.  I've never done it.  I always fizzle out a couple of months in.  But this time I hope I'm determined enough to go with it for the whole year.  I'm doing a "topics" reading plan.  So far so good.  But then it's only been 4 days.

To encourage myself to learn to use my new big girl camera, one step at a time, I'm also giving Sweet Shot Tuesday a go, hosted by My Life with My 3 Boybararians.  Wow, she's got so many good photography tips on her site.  Check her out and join on in.

So my very first entry is out of my point and shoot because I haven't had the time actually take a good shot with the big camera.  This was my girls being their fun selves at the restaurant celebrating the youngest's and my birthdays last week.  It's an almost embarrassing entry compared to everyone else's but I'm determined to find those links that encourage me to take pictures and to learn and make them better as the year goes on.  Hopefully by the end of the year there will be much improvement in my pictures.

Photo Hunter ~ Framed

Today's Photo Hunter theme is "framed". There was so many different directions this could go. But I chose this one.


These three were framed by me on holidays a couple of years ago. We were in a cherry and peach orchard and found this ladder sitting on it's side on the ground. Made a perfect shot to frame their silly mugs.

Photo Hunters ~ Purple

I haven't done a Photo Hunter challenge in a couple of months blowing my goal of not missing one this year. Oh, well. That's what happens when life happens. LOL. This week's theme is purple.



I have no idea what these pretty purple flowers are but I find them scattered here and there down by the river in the hills. The picture doesn't do the double color of the flower justice or how it stands out against the brown and green grasses. It really is a lovely punch of purple color in the hills.

Photo Hunters ~ Addiction

This week's photo hunt was "addiction". Right off the bat I thought my picture would be of my cup of coffee, for which I am totally addicted, but then the more I thought of it I realized there were so many I could actually do. Not sure what that says about me. LOL. Thinking there might be quite a few pictures of coffee, because I know I'm not alone in that addiction as evidenced by the flourishing coffee shops, I chose this one instead. Last summer I made my own fresh salsa for the first time ever, and I am totally addicted. What a difference in flavor. I am spoiled for life.

Photo Hunters ~ Vertical

Today at Photo Hunter's we are all on the search for vertical. I've had a super busy week this week so had to search out my archives. I found these pics of a water park we had visited on vacation a few years back. The first ride took me a long time to work up my nerve to go on because the drop, although short, was literally vertical. Scary stuff. My kids however took it on without thinking twice. Here's my oldest daughter and son taking their, oh, hundredth ride.

The next ride speaks for itself. No way did I get on that thing although my youngest daughter braved it and thought it was the bomb as far as waterslides go. I will stand at the end and be the official picture taker thank you very much.

Photo Hunters ~ Sweet

Today the theme "Sweet" and I'll bet there is going to be a whole bunch of Easter treats showing to make us all drool. So before I go to our sweet Easter treat, I had to do a picture of a different sweet.

Awww, now isn't that just the sweetest little doggy you ever did see? I wish I could fall asleep just anywhere.

Had I been on the ball when we were heading to the Greek restaurant the other night, I would have taken my camera so I could have taken a picture of the sweet and delicious tiramisu I knew I would be having for dessert! But I wasn't, on the ball that is, so if anyone from my family is looking, close your eyes so you don't know what sweet treat you'll be finding tomorrow! :v)

This week's Photo Hunter theme is fresh. I didn't have a whole lot of time to think on this with the oldest girl visiting and all but it dawned on me as I was making pancakes that I had some fresh stuff right there.

Photo Hunter ~ Spiral

Today's Photo Hunter theme is Spiral. The very first thing that came to mind was at the lake I mentioned in yesterday's post, at the children's playground. It's part of the climbing apparatus.
