Friday's Fave Five #776

It's Friday and that means taking a pause out of our ordinary days and seeing the blessings within it.  We all have ordinary days, though my ordinary day may look very different from yours.  But in those days we consider so routine, so plain or so unexciting there are many blessings from God hidden throughout.  But as we go through our days do we even take note of them or pause to be thankful for them?  It's so easy to take for granted those things which may not be earth shaking or life changing, but still have lifted us in the midst of our everyday.  Join us as we develop our hearts to take notice and be grateful.

~ new season of Somebody Feed Phil ~ there are very few tv shows that both Hubby and I like and that we watch together.  Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix is one of them.  It is the perfect combination of Food and Travel, humor and learning.  We've watched the episodes so many times and still laugh at his insight and antics and enjoy his obvious love of food, culture, travel and people.  And now finally the 7th season has arrived so we've been enjoying it together in the evenings.

- the Chosen ep 7 - 8 ~ well you know this one was going to be here, right?  Saturday we went to see the final two episodes of season 4 at the theatre and boy, it did not disappoint.  So, so much to this season, I can't wait for it to get to the Chosen app so that I can watch it again.  (Which is free btw and available in Google Play and Apple or on your smart tv's app store) or you can watch season 1-3 here

~ more relaxed Thursday in dayhome ~ with 6 pre-schoolers normally here on most weekdays yesterday was a nice break only having four attend.

~ a good night's sleep ~ after a horrible couple of nights due to sciatica pain acting up it was pure heaven to sleep through the night.  A good night's sleep is such a blessing!

~ dayhome spot filled quickly ~  I admit, that the worst part of my job is the constant interviewing.  Every time a family leaves the spot needs to be filled and so I interview, or in today's trendy vernacular:  "meet and greet".  It's a stressful time as not only is the family interviewing me but I'm interviewing the family and we're both trying to determine if we will be a good fit for each other.  And the whole aspect of virtually letting strangers into my home to look around at all areas their child would be in is still, after 33 years of doing this, unnerving.   And sometimes to fill a spot one has to go through several of these sessions.  After being given notice of one of my families moving away at the end of the month it was search time again.  But, praise God, I filled the spot very quickly with a family that I was referred by a former family.  It was smooth and easy and felt very comfortable.

What have been your favorite blessings of this week?

Hi Susanne, I hope you back issues resolve quickly. Hubby and I will be finishing season 3 soon and will wait until it gets to the app. Good that you filled your spot. We have grands here 4 out of 5 days during the week and this weekend we will have the younger grands over might. I hope we get to church on time with the time change!

perfect quote for the week!!

I too have had sciatica acting up this week...among the other issues...ugh!

I can't wait for the chosen to be available on Netflix. We don't get the chosen app for some reason with our apple tv. Maybe because we don't have a smart tv?? we just have the apple device that lets you upload various apps. I can ask my oldest but when we searched last time it didn't work so we watched it on Netflix. Can't wait to see Season 4!!

Praise God your spot was filled quickly, susanne!! that's awesome.

I wonder how long it will be for The Chosen to get on the app. This season has been a rollercoaster, I understand and I know a bit from You Tubers who report on it.

I can understand how uncomfortable it must be to open up your home to strangers, hoping that they approve. They are probably hoping you approve of them as well. It's a blessing for you to take this on though for parents who need a safe, nurturing place for their children while they work. There are places out there that aren't as nice.

I'm not familiar with the show you mentioned, but then I don't subscribe to Netflix. I unique shows like that where travel is concerned. That's how I see the world!

Have a lovely weekend, Susanne!

I know what you mean about the blessing of a good night's sleep. It's amazing what a difference it makes in a day. I'm glad your dayhome spot was filled so quickly and easily. I wouldn't be comfortable with that part of the job, either. It's nice to have a reference from a previous family and have at least that point of contact rather than interviewing someone you know nothing about.

Hi Susanne. I guess this was the week for sciatica. In my FFF post, I talk about dealing with that same kind of pain. We love The Chosen too, but haven't gone to the theater to see the season 4 episodes. We will for sure be watching when they come on TV (Netflix or BYU TV). That is a great series. It's so good that you got a good night's sleep. A good sleep is a game changer. It's great that you found another child for your day home that is a good fit. Have a nice weekend. See you again soon!

Oh, sciatica can be so difficult! Hope you are able to relieve the cause and get more good night's sleep.

So pleased you were able to will your dayhome spot so quickly and smoothly. I remember when you were wrestling with whether to continue the work or not. But God keeps providing for you and the families you serve. That is a wonderful blessing indeed.

We are way behind on watching The Chosen. We need to get back to watching the earlier seasons.
Good news on filling that daycare home vacancy so quickly.
I hope your sciatica goes away and you will be able to sleep well.
Have a good week!
