Hi everyone! Welcome to Friday and the Friday's Fave Five. First off I want to say I'm sorry I missed commenting on everyone's posts from last week. There was just some family stuff happening and family came first. But onto a fresh new week! Are you ready to look back over the week and find your blessings? If so, join us!
~ family home ~ One of the reasons I was so busy was that my son, his girlfriend and daughter came home for a few days. I have not seen my son's girlfriend for 2 years! Between the heavy workload of being in nursing school and covid she just could never come for a visit, and we haven't been there because of covid. So we just hung out and had a real nice catch up time. Sunday we went to the mountains and though it was really cold it was still a great day being together.
~ Waterton ~ one of my favorite places to be. We are so blessed to have such a gorgeous national park so close by. So many trails and hikes for every skill level, beautiful scenery everywhere you turn, a lovely mountain village, lakes and waterfalls galore. It was a cold day there on Sunday but the beauty was still enjoyed. Being in Waterton always revives and destresses me. And it was nice just to get out of town for a day.
Sorry for the shadow, just didn't want to sacrifice the time it took to take it into natural lighting, I wanted to sit down and eat that thing!
~ "movie" night with the girls ~ this is a rare occurrence as my youngest does not really watch a whole lot of movies and we have very different tastes and usually don't agree on one. But we found a series on Netflix that kind of caught both of our attentions and also interested my son's girlfriend so we binged quite a few episodes over a few days. It was nice just sit in their company relaxing.
~ province starting to open up ~ yesterday was stage 2 of opening up for summer. I for one am glad. While I do follow all the restrictions and regulations, I am growing weary of it all. The constant back and forth of it, so many changes for so long and not seeing my family. That is the hardest part. The toll it has taken on families, my family. I am glad we are at a point where we can start taking the steps back to "normal".
What are your favorite blessings this week?

Since two days we are almost "free" ! For the first time in 9 month I went with my friends to our favorite Restaurant !!
It's funny that boys love to cook in this generation ! My son too loves cooking he says that after a work day it's destressing !! And I have become so lazy that I don't cook at all anymore !The landscape around you is really beautiful and it seems to me that your doggy has grown !
That quote is thought provoking!!
Yay formyour son and his gf and your daughter coming for a fun weekend.
Waterton and Banff are still on our bucket list. In fact, i meant to email you, but Waterton was written about for a destinations to get to for summer article our local paper did!! It's considered a gem of a national park.
My oldest daughter and i rarely find similar Netflix movies we wanna see but we both are enjoying Handmaids Tale on Hulu. We loved the books!! Literary classics for sure.
I'm currently binge watching Heartland which is different from the book series which are set in Virginia. Courtney read them all in 5th-7th grade and still owns them as she did equestrian sports frommage 7-13. But the Netflix series is set in Alberta!!!! I love love love the scenery!!
We are totally back to normal here in New York although unvaccinated people should be wearing ( and are mandated to but not sure all are obeying) masks when in stores, etc. I'm still required to wear a mask while students are in the building.
Happy weekend!,
What a fun time visiting with your son and his girlfriend. Wow, that pineapple dish looks amazing. The movie night sounds so fun, and I'm glad you got to go to a favorite beautiful place. That's great that things are starting to open back up and get back to normal.
Hi Susanne, That National Park by your home looks amazing. I would sure like to hike there some day! So glad your son and his girlfriend were able to come home for a visit and that you had such an awesome meal cooked by your son. That looks delicious! I would love to know the Netflix series you are watching. I don't watch TV much, but I am always looking for an interesting series. I hope you have a great weekend.
I am happy with you that you got to spend time with your son and his girlfriend. Your description of your weekend just kept getting better and better. And yay for the province opening up!
That last quote...yes! Food, clean water, transportation, comfortable bed, temperature controlled dwelling, both warm and cool.
Our national park is open by reservation only. It is nice in that it keeps the crowds down, but hard to be spontaneous about visiting there.
Oh, your family time sounds wonderful. I'm envious of your girls movie night! It's been ages since all of the girls have been together in our house. What a treat for you that your son cooks, and does it so well. He's a keeper:)
How lovely to be able to spend time with your son and his family after such a long time. I know how that feels. That dinner looks amazing. Food always tastes better when you haven't had to cook it don't you think? Glad your restrictions are lifting. Ours have relaxed a lot but the next stage - no restrictions at all - may be delayed as case numbers are going up a bit. Fortunately hospitalisations and deaths have remained very low so the vaccines seem to be working. We're still being quite cautious. Have a lovely weekend Susanne.
I love National parks and this one looks amazing you are lucky to be close bye. The pineapple dish looks amazing perfect for summer. Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like a wonderful week, Susanne! I'm so happy for you!
Love the quote! I am grateful for God, my home and family, my church and my job, internet and computer, my blog, books, and my calling and especially the WORD! I'd be lost without it. Oh, and air conditioning. :)
That pineapple dish looks amazing. How awesome your son made it for you!
So glad you have a place to destress. The lake is that place for me.
Stay over guests that cook are such fun! It's nice for sons to learn to cook! Glad you had a good getaway to the mountains, too.
What a beautiful view - and what a sweet visit! That dish looks just amazing! What am I thankful for? Zinnias in the garden, my husband - all those sons and their wives and girlfriends - and those grands! Those delightful grands!
