Friday's Fave Five #625

Hi and welcome to Friday's Fave Five.  We are here to look for the blessings from our past week and share 5 of them.  Last week I mentioned that it had been a rough week.  And it was.  And it came to a head when on the weekend when our beloved dog passed away.  He went from being fine in the day to not fine in the evening on Tuesday and on Saturday we had to say goodbye.  It was hard and devastating.  But I'm so thankful we had him for the time we did, almost 11 years.  He brought us much love and joy and laughter.  We will miss him greatly.

But God is still good and there were moments of blessing in the grief where we saw His hand.  Please join me as we thank God for his blessings in our lives.

~ amazing, compassionate vets ~ I am so thankful for the kind and caring vets who took care of Todd in his crisis.  They were in constant communication with us and worked hard to figure things out and try to do what they could.

~ wonderful neighbor ~ My lovely neighbor who baked us cookies and cried with me this week over the fence when she heard the news.  We talk often over the fence, she has a home child care too and we have become friends over that fence.  Her empathy and sympathy were a balm to my hurting heart and I'm thankful for her.

~ sunshine ~ though a cold front blew through Wednesday, most days this week have had wonderful warm sunshine.  It's been wonderful sitting on the deck soaking it in.

~ long distance phone call ~ a very good friend of mine had moved away to another province and it's always so nice to hear her voice.  This week I got a phone call from her.  It's so easy talking with her and laughter comes easily.  She also has a home child care so we can bounce lots of ideas off of each other.  It's like a nice break to get to talk with her and not just text.

~ restaurant gift cards ~  I had been given some gift cards at Christmas 2019 to some nice restaurants.  One I had put away for our anniversary but then COVID happened and we just never got around to using them.  On Sunday after hearing our sad news our daughter Tamara came home for the day to be with us and I remembered those gift cards.   So we used them to order a really nice takeout dinner and enjoyed the short time we had to visit over a nice meal.

What were some favorite blessings from your week?

Aw....so sorry to hear of your beloved puppy. The phone calls and chats must have really ministered to your heart. ❤️

LovIng that Spring is almost here and that in the Great Northeast i am starting to feel warmer temps in the day and more sunshine and robins!!

Yay for gift cards! We still have one to use at a fave restaurant in Saratoga to the north of us...our fave small city....we received it from my sister Joy for Xmas 2019. When the place reopened in Summer 2020 we decided to wait until a nice Sept evening to use it for their outside dining only to get there and find out we could eat in but couldn't use gift cards during the pandemic!! We thought that was odd. We will try again this spring maybe for Easter.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. It's sad to say good-bye to a beloved pet. It's good your vet was so kind and compassionate. I'm glad you had good conversations with your neighbor and friend.

We've really enjoyed the sunshine this week, too, especially as it's supposed to rain for the next week.

How nice to have the restaurant gift card while your daughter was home.

I don't see the linky sign-up, so I'll leave my FFF here for now: https://barbaraleeharper.com/2021/03/12/fridays-fave-five-588/.

I feel so bad for you losing your beloved dog. What a comfort though to have a good neighbor. And having your daughter home for even a little while is comforting.
And Yay for gift cards!

That's terrible when your pet passes away ! Arthur (the cat) left us just one year ago but he is still with us. Fortunately we moved otherwise it would be more terrible I would see him in all corners. I am so sorry for you and your family some people can't understand that sometimes you are more sad when you loose your dog or cat who has shared your life so long, as an old aunt you have seen once in a blue moon only because it's a human !

So sorry to hear about Todd. He was a real cutie. It's hard letting them go even when you know it's the right thing to do. But sounds like your friends and daughter helped make things easier.
