Friday's Fave Five #538

Welcome to the First Day of Summer and Friday's Fave Five.  It may be the first day of summer but here we have a cool and rainy day in the forecast.  Perfect for taking some time with a warm cup of coffee or tea to mull over the week, looking for the blessings given to us.  Please join us as we share 5 of our favorite blessings from the past week.

1.  Fun and Good Eats at the Food Truck Fest.  Saturday afternoon when the munchies struck hubby and I decided to take our daughter up on her invitation to join her at the Food Truck Fest.  This is an annual event in our city.  It has really grown from a small handful of trucks the first year to about 18 or so this year. Tons of yummy eats to choose from.  Everything from crepes to tacos to sushi to burgers, pizza and ice cream to name just a few.   And some fun stuff for the kids to do, too.  I went with the poutine truck and had a "Daisy" which was a poutine made with duck confit and bacon.  Poutine if you don't know is a Canadian thing.  French Fries covered in gravy and cheese curds.  Totally not healthy but totally delicious!  Hubby went with the mac and cheese truck and had a pulled pork mac and cheese.  So many choices it was a tough decision.

2.  Starbucks at home ~ Found this at cost co and couldn't pass this by.  Two large jugs of iced coffee for only $9.99.   I love my iced lattes and this easily paid for itself many times over.  I've made 3 iced lattes so far, probably around a grande size, and only dented one bottle about half way.

3.  Fresh New Box of Crayons ~ How can a lovely new box of crayons not make me and the dayhome kids not smile?  It's a total invitation to color.

4.  Anniversary Dinner celebration ~  Tuesday was our 36th Anniversary!  It was a quiet one but we still marked the occasion with a special dinner out at our local fancier Italian restaurant.  It was our first time eating there and it was very good.  The tiramisu was amazing and we've been told quite authentic.  It was nice to be able to celebrate being together and our lives over the past 36 years.

5.  The Golden Bleeding Heart made it ~  I didn't think it made it through the winter.  And I was going to dig it up.  But something held me back and I'm so glad I listened to my gut.  My first Golden Bleeding Heart bush didn't make it through it's first winter, but I pampered this one and made sure I covered it with a pot and dead leaves this winter and that seemed to do the trick.  Can't wait for it to grow and really bush out.  Golden Bleeding Hearts are a rarer variety that have peach colored stems and pinkish hearts with bright lime yellow leaves.  I found it at the Canadian Tire the first time and they never did get any more in and I had to really hunt around to find one last year.  But I scored one of the last ones at a garden center and would have been really sad to have it go too so I am very happy this guy made it.  I'm probably going to have to move the hosta next year though that is a very short variety so we'll see.

What were your favorite blessings this week?

Awesome that your plant came back! I wrote something similar about my tiger lilies!

That IS a good deal on the Starbucks. Claire is a barista at one this summer and i asked if she could get me a discount. Nope. 🤣

Happy belated Anniversary. Ours is the 30th and we will celebrate 29 yrs!! Actually we will be unpacking the car, and doing laundry from our vacation. Ha! Hopefully grabbing dinner at a new place, too.

Happy Anniversary to you and your hubby! Thirty-six years is a great accomplishment.
Those food trucks are always a fun way to find and try a new food combo. Who thinks them up? I'm glad you explained poutine as I was getting ready to look up the meaning. :)
New crayons? oh yes! A new pen or pencil makes me happy too.
Have a great weekend!

I was also wondering what a poutine was, so I am glad you explained it. :-) Happy anniversary!!! I'm so glad your plant made a comeback! I love a new box of crayons or colored pencils. My son and d-i-l suggested going to a food truck thing something similar to what you talked about, but I wasn't very interested - I'll have to take them up on it next time. There are several around the farmer's market every weekend here.

Lots of things to be thankful for there not least your anniversary. Congratulations. I love getting new pens and stationery. Food trucks sound interesting and at least it means no cooking lol. Enjoy your weekend.
