Friday's Fave Five #272

Welcome to the last Fave Five of February.  Hard to believe, isn't it?  This month just zoomed by so I'm glad I have a purposeful exercise to help me to focus on some blessings otherwise they might just have zoomed by without me even noticing.  Please join me in looking for the good things in life by finding five favorites from your last week.

1.  Coffee break with my beloved.  What's nicer than having a coffee break with my hubby on a busy Saturday afternoon?    It was nice just to come to a stop and enjoy a Starbucks and a heart shaped cookie together in the midst of our running around.

2.  A nice wrap up to the Olympics.  I love watching the Olympics and though I'm all about cheering loud and strong for the Canadians, I love watching all the competitors and see them reach their goals, whether that is making it to the medal podium or not.  I love when I see good sportsmanship displayed no matter what country colors are represented.  My favorite moment from the closing ceremonies was watching dancers recreate the now infamous Olympic ring malfunction from the opening ceremonies.

3.  Watching a fun movie with a couple of friends.  Monday night for whatever reasons only 3 of us made our ladies bible study.  Lots of colds going around here.  Anyway, the 3 of  us who did make it made it a fun movie night instead.  It was a nice change of pace and it was fun to just relax and watch a favorite movie, Cool Runnings, with a couple friends, one of whom who had never seen it.  It was also fun to see all the familiar landmarks and scenes from Calgary, Alberta where the the movie was filmed.

4.  Voltaren.  This week I have had major shoulder and neck and upper back tightness.  Being a topical anti inflammatory, Voltaren helped to ease the aching a bit so that I could at least get to sleep and function in the day.  I'm thankful there is over the counter products that do help when I'm experiencing this kind of stuff.

5.  It's Friday.  I'm just plain thankful it is Friday and I'm looking forward to a relaxed weekend.

What have been your favorites from the week?

I didn't know that Cool Runnings was filmed in Alberta. I will have to re-watch that and look for the places I might know.

I will have to look for Voltaren as my back has still been tight too.

Watching the movie does sound like a nice change of pace. I bet it was great relaxing and laughing together.

I hope you feel much better by the start of your work week on Monday, Susanne.

I know Starbucks from the UK. It doesn't exist in Belgium. I like the coffee there, it's very good.
Mr. G. takes Votaren too when his arthritis bothers him ! Quite efficient !

So thankful you found an OTC med for your stiffness.....the only thing that works for when my neck or knees are stiff is gentle yoga! But I've never seen the med you wrote about. Will look for it. Yay for Starbucks...I wrote so etching similar!! And guess what?? I had to cancel my small group study last night too for same reasons. I didn't think of a movie night, enjoy the weekend!!

Hi Susanne - I may have to try that OTC topical anti-inflammatory you wrote about. I have never seen it. Hope they have it somewhere around here in Arizona. It has been many years since I saw Cool Runnings but I remember I did really like it. I love your Friday Faves. I always want to join you but then Friday evenings turn so busy. Maybe tonight, but that is doubtful since I have a weekend class to attend which begins tonight. Oh well. I love your blog and all your book reviews. Enjoy your weekend.

Glad there is Voltaren for you. Your movie experience sounds wonderful. I remember Calgary on a cassette tape someone gave me many moons ago.

Faith: Here Voltaren is a gel like rub in a tube and available at drugstores. I buy mine at Costco in the health and beauty department.

I've heard great things about Voltaren, too. So good to have a remedy close at hand.

I remember Cool Runnings :-) What a fun way to enjoy some together time with friends.

I'm definitely with you on #5. What a week.

I'm glad it's Friday, too, since in a few hours we'll see our second born and his girlfriend who are coming for the weekend. It's nice to get away with our husbands for some one on one times. Glad you had a good time. I have to say I've not heard of Voltaren but my father has been using a topical lotion for his shoulders from Mexico that has really helped his pain. Glad you were able to get relief...

I hear ya on Friday! Seems like it has been a long time coming! Hope your pain goes away. Until Christmas I had months of that pain. Physical therapy helped me a great deal. God Bless and have a great weekend! (long slow weekend)

LOVE Voltaren! It's so very expensive here, though. $40 for a small tube even with my insurance...

The coffee break sounds nice!

I loved that moment at the Olympics closing ceremony, too.

It's been years since I saw Cool Runnings but I remember enjoying it, and they referred to it a lot when the Jamaicans did the bobsled races this time.

I'm sorry for your back/muscle trouble. :-( Is this due to your work or is something else underlying causing it? I get muscle spasms there sometimes and use Icy Hot patches - will have to try Voltaren some time.

I love Fridays, too! ♥

I loved that moment from the closing ceremonies as well. I was laughing and cheering at the same. I am glad that they were able to poke fun at it!

I would love to see Cool Runnings again and we tried to find it to share with the older kids during the Olympics but couldn't.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.
