Friday's Fave Five #217

Already Friday!  It's time for us to count our blessings.  Time to look back over the last week and recognize and acknowledge some of the good things in our lives.  Whether we are on the mountain top at the moment or having a valley experience, looking for and being thankful for the good things in our lives makes us a more joyful person.  Please join in with us!  If you need guidelines they are here.

1.  Girl's night out.  A few of us friends met at a local decorating stores Christmas open house night and just had fun munching on their goodies and looking at all the gorgeous decorations.  As it turned out it was a really difficult day for all three of us and it was so good just to be together and let go of the previous hours and have the kind of fun that only a bunch of ladies window shopping together can have.  We even stuck to our budgets and didn't get carried away!  A miracle!  As it turned out we ran into another handful of friends and we all went out for coffee after.  Letting go of the day's trouble and finding the laughter was a great blessing.

2.  My favorite flavor is back at Starbuck's.   Caramel Brulee Latte.  Love this stuff.  And I must get there at least once over the next couple of days.  Until the 18th between 2 and 5 p.m. it's buy one get one free!  Hmmm, I can take hubby one day, daughter another day, maybe sister or a friend on the third day.  Yes, must plan a coffee run, or three, over the next couple of days.   Yummy coffees definitely are a blessing in my book.

** I looked on both the .com and the .ca sites and they are both advertising the deal so I assume it's U.S. and Canada!

3.  A better report from the doctor for my Dad.  What we thought was a definite surgical consult turned out to be better news than we thought.  Instead Dad was sent home with a prescription that the doctor seems confident may help rather than having surgery.  Total relief for my Dad.  He'll have to have a revisit in 6 months and see the progress and then go from there.  A doctor who doesn't jump right to surgery when there may be another way is a blessing.

4.  A short work week.  I had Monday off this week making it a 4 day work week.  A little sleeping in, a little lazing around, a little date with hubby.  Always a blessing.

5.  Encouraging texts.  I normally grumble about the text thing, how it takes over normal conversations, how it's hard to really discern the tone of texts and how mistakes and offenses can occur, how we've become a society who cannot be one minute without that electronic in our hands or ears.  But I must admit when a text comes in in that just right moment that is encouraging and uplifting or humorous, I love it. Please note:  taking and returning a text while driving is NOT the just right moment!!

What have your blessings been this week.  If you can choose your 5 favorites and do a post, please sign onto Mr. Linky and let us come and visit with you.  If you didn't do a FFF post, maybe skip the signing on to the Linky but feel free to share your faves in the comments if you'd like.

Hmm, I was in Starbucks this morning and didn't notice a sign about either creme broule or buy 1 get 1 free. Is it only a Canada thing? I'll need to check tomorrow, right?

A day off is always lovely :) I'm glad you enjoyed your Monday.

Yes, those Fridays keep coming! I'm so glad for FFF to remember each week's blessings. Your girl's night out was just the right thing at the right time and even at the right price -- wonderful! So glad for a prescription instead of surgery for your dad. Hoping the meds help.

A friend just posted on Facebook about this Starbucks deal (15th-18th). I'm in No. CA. I have GOT to take advantage of this blessing.

I have to admit to being a texter (but not while driving). Getting those encouraging words at just the right moment is indeed a blessing.

Hurray you got to sleep in. Couldn't you get used to that?

Have a good week, Susanne.

Good news for your Dad, Susanne. I hope the medication really helps.

Our holiday Monday was an incredible - sunny and warm - probably a record! Usually Remembrance Day is cold and wet.

I'll have to try that Starbucks flavour - I haven't been in there for months. We tend to make a Timmy's stop :)

Your girl's night out sounds like it was just the right medicine for you. Glad you had such fun.

Happy weekend!

Caramel anything sounds delicious!

I'm glad that your dad is able to avoid surgery right now. I hope the medication works!

I'm totally with you on the texting thing. I like texts that have meaning, and an encouraging one can make your day.

Have a great weekend!

So glad you told us about the Starbucks deal. Although I prefer Dunkin Donuts or Green Mountain, I think I'll get my self over to Starbucks for the deal and have one of their skinny peppermint mochas! :) The ladies night out sounds perfect and I know what you mean about the texts that encourage!! Sounds like you had a special week.

I love getting texts because that is how I communicate with my grown daughters and my boyfriend when we are apart. I just got a caramel cream brulee yesterday. Yum! I am glad to hear that you have good news from your dr.

So happy to hear about a better report for your dad.

The girls night out sounds like great fun -- haven't had one of those in a while.

What great news for your dad!

While texting can go too far, generally I like it, and some are great for either a spot of humor or encouragement or just that bit of touching base with a loved one.

A short work week is always a fave, even though it does throw me off in remembering what day it is all the rest of the week. :)

I hesitate to share this but I've never been to Starbucks .... sounds like this special might be one I'd enjoy, though... Glad you are enjoying it!

I love short work weeks, encouraging texts and time out with friends, too. What a wonderful world!
