It's Wednesday and that means another Random Dozen from Linda at 2nd cup of Coffee. Head over there and join in!
1. Are you pleasant when you're ill, or are you a grumpy, fussy patient? I may get ill but I definitely don't get to be a patient very often. I can be grumpy when ill but that's because I don't feel I can be the patient. And it wears me down.

2. When you find out that school is canceled (due to inclement weather) what is your gut reaction? Hahahaha. School closer due to inclement weather? What's that? That doesn't happen hardly ever around here. I cannot remember the last time schools closed for weather.
3. What is one domestic skill you wish you could improve? There is probably a lot of them I need to improve but are there any I wish to improve? I don't know. I guess I wish I was a better baker. I love to cook but baking is definitely not my forte.
4. Do you decorate your home for Valentine's Day? Nope.
5. What song is on your mind today? This one.
6. Do you prefer contemporary movies or classic? It depends on the movie. I like some out of both and I dislike some out both.
7. How well do you "compartmentalize" your feelings? For example, how well can you put aside a really trying moment to deal with the immediate situation which is not related to the trying moment, e.g., putting aside a tiff with your spouse in order to finish wallpapering a room. I'm assuming you mean the spouse is helping to wallpaper. LOL. For the most part because of my training in rehabilitation, where you literally have to put any emotions aside and deal with whatever crisis is happening, then when it's all over and dealt with is when you break down, I'd have to say for the most part I'm pretty good at defering it. But that doesn't mean I'm good at letting it go. It bubbles up and boils over eventually. Hard question, Linda.
8. What is the first thing that attracted you to your spouse? (Or if you're single, to your best friend.) His smile and confidence.
9. When was the last time your heart raced? The last time my son snuck up behind me. That kid loves to see me jump out of my skin. It cracks him up for some strange reason which is totally lost on me.
10. What are your memories of Valentine's Day at school? In all honesty, I really don't remember Valentine's Days except maybe making containers to hold our valentines at school. It's not really a holiday that held a whole lot of significance to me that I remember.
11. If you were going to receive candy for Valentine's Day, which would you prefer? If I had any choice, money no option, I'd go for this! The one with 70 peices please. If in real life then these will do just fine too.
12. Red or pink? I favor the red!

I will take either chocolate on #11 THANK YOU!!!!
They NEVER cancel school here, either! They cancel buses sometimes, but school stays open.
When they actually cancelled school last year - the first time I know of it happening - it was because EVERYTHING was coated in ice AND there was a huge snowstorm.
We decorated the schoolroom for Valentine's Day! It's pretty cute.
I couldn't remember any school Valentine's day either! As for the inclement weather, however, we've only had school twice in the past 13 days here! SNOW, SNOW, SNOW!
Great list.
I'm just the opposite of you in the kitchen. I love to bake. Cook? Not so much!
I am a Lindt's fan, too.
I didn't know you were trained in rehabilitation, Or maybe I did and forgot -- quite possible. :-) I don't necessarily express my feelings at the time, but they do simmer below the surface.
So far I am the only pink girl -- everyone else I have seen likes red.
What a fun list!
The chocolate...oh my! It was fun reading your answers...enjoy your day!
Good answers. I enjoyed that song! Thanks for sharing.
until next time... nel
love me some dark choco, too...
great answers!
well we were supposed to close early today due to a snow storm coming. LOL..NEVER got the storm. it did snow this a.m. on way to work but it was just a light dusting. sun is out now and there is NO snow. unless it happens tonite! so yeah..here in NYS we have not had more than 1 cancellation this school year :(
love your answers...mine is finally up!
That chocolate heart looks amazing!!!!
i cant seem to bake either. i even have a kitchen aid mixer..only used it a handul of times in the last 4 1/2 years.
Like you I don't get to be a patient often either.
In the rare instance school is canceled, I LOVE IT! Time to snuggle with my kiddos at home relaxing, drinking hot chocolate and taking an unexpected day of togetherness.
I didn't know you had training in rehab. Learned something new about you! :-) I'm also pretty good at compartmentalizing which I would guess is due to my training as a nurse.
AS a side note, I picked up the book from the library today. Eager to get reading!... :-)
You hit the nail on the head with your answer to #1. I think that is why I get grouchy because I still have to do everything.
WOW! I want one of those chocolate boxes!!!! That is amazing. I may dream about that!
Your valentine choice gave me a smile. I would say the same thing!
It has been many years since I was a schoolgirl but I still remember the beautiful box that teacher decorated with hearts and lace to hold our cards.
Of course we had treats too. Things like cupcake crumbs and broken cookies, suckers and conversation hearts. It seems the cookies and cakes could seldom get to school in one piece and if they did, they never made it home that way.
My children love to scare me too! You should see the picture of my daughter in the cabinet where she was hiding from me. I looked EVERYWHERE for her!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. This is the first time I've been to yours, and I like it. I enjoyed reading your answers for Random Dozen.
I see that you are a reader. Yay, me too! Reading "In Search of Eden"? I loved that book. Made me cry a few times.
That is AMAZING to me that you never have schools close.
I always get the feeling that you are such a caretaker that you put yourself last all the time. On one hand, I admire you because I'm such a taker, but on the other, I worry about you because you don't allow yourself to be the patient when you're ill, etc. Oh, Susanne. Sigh.
Well, thanks for playing, even when the questions are tough.
