Friday's Fave Five # 43

Hello again! Welcome to Friday's Fave Five! Hopefully you'll find a nice, relaxing time looking back over your week and finding five of your favorite things out of this last week. If you're not sure how to jump on board, take a look here and then just start. Thanks for all of you bringing me many smiles and a lovely way to spend a short period of time reading about all your wonderful things that make you smile!

So here we go:

1. Peonies. My mom gave me some beautiful peonies from her garden and they actually lasted alsmost a week. I love them. My mom is a wonderful gardener and her love of flowers is apparent in her garden. There are so many lovely varieties, but the peonies (and the tulips) are my absolute favorites.

2. Holidays in the middle of the week. Love the long weekends, but I'll never turn away a day off in the middle of the week. Wednesday's Canada Day dawned warm and sunny and proved to be a really nice mid week break. For the first time in a long time I didn't feel like going to the lake to watch the fireworks. But we only live about 6 blocks away and I have a great view of the higher ones through the trees. I laughed at this picture with the squiggly looking fingers it almost looks like some kind of strange flower. I couldn't believe my little camera could take pictures of fireworks from so far away.

3. A date out with hubby this week having a little supper at our favorite restaurant. Date nights are a good thing.

4. Blood pressure numbers down. A definite thing that made me happy, happy, happy. I don't know what I've done right and they still aren't where they should be but they did go down. Yipee!

5. Iced tea. I can tell summer is here because I'm craving the iced tea. Long, tall, cold glasses of iced tea. I'm going to try to make sun tea for the first time this year, I just need to find a good jar. Anyone have any good recipes.

What have your favorites been from the end of June and and first few days of July? If you do a post, please sign up on Mr. Linky so that we can come and read it. Just click the Mr. Linky icon to have the page displayed. Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Beautiful peonies, yes, I do believe your Mother is a great gardener! You're one lucky girl! Congratulations on the blood pressure, good health is precious. And dates with husbands are the best. I had a very long one. Two weeks worth of dates and fun things to do! I don't know where to start either! It's good to be back too though!

Happy Belated Canada Day, Susanne! I love iced tea, too, although I make mine in my coffee machine with 12 cups of water and 3 large tea bags (the ones they sell at the grocery store that are labeled for iced tea). I fill a large jug with ice cubes and pour 3/4 cup of sugar on top, then pour over the hot tea from the coffee carafe. Stir and enjoy, it's delicious!

We had a date night this week - dinner and a trip to Home Depot...ahh, romance!

Have a lovely weekend!

Beautiful photos!!

My fav's from this week:

Getting our adoption home study done! Nothing like having a complete stranger tour and critique your entire home.

Launching the new location of My Quiet Corner! Now that I have a better feel for what I'm doing, I will be attacking it a bit differently (more so behind the scenes). It's so nice to have things fresh and clean!

Happy, Happy Friday to you!

I love Peonies and we have two big bushes in our backyard. My problem is the ants that seem to love them as well. Do you know what to do about that?

Sounds like a perfect week.
The peonies remind me of my mother. She had them in her garden.
I'm glad your blood pressure is lower. That's an awesome feeling.
I'm sure it's all that bike riding.

Peonies are so beautiful! I tried to grow them once... oh that was a complete failure! I thought they were difficult -- but then I found out it's just ME! I can't grow ANYthing! LOL!

I never used a special recipe for Sun Tea -- I just used water, tea bags and lemon -- I don't think you can really mess with a good thing!

Congrats on the BP! That is a gOOd thing!

Sounds like a great week with date night and a holiday.

I like suntea the best for my iced tea. I just think it gives the best, clean flavor.

But maybe next week I'll post my raspberry tea recipe, thats really good too.

Sounds like a great week! I was just admiring the peonies on our walking route a couple of nights ago! And that's so great about your blood pressure - always good news!
Enjoy your weekend!

How about a tall glass of peach iced tea? 3 (11.5 oz) cans of peach nectar, 2 quarts of brewed tea, 1 cup of sugar, and 1/4 c. lemon juice. Add all ingredients to a large pitcher; stir to continue. Cover and chill until ready to serve. Serves/makes 10.

remainder of Peach Tea recipe:
Stir to "combine", not continue! Sorry. Drink up! Enjoy! Ah.....

I adore peonies, Susanne. They smell so heavenly ...

Great pic of the fireworks. Today is Independence Day in the USA and we'll be having fireworks. I'll see if I can get some pics on my little camera.

Date nights are the best! May we all have more of them!

Interesting because our peonies bloom the last week of May and that's it! Do yours bloom a lot later?

My mother-in-law grew peonies too. What memories your photo brought back - I hadn't thought of that in ages.

I love days off in the middle of the week too. Actually, I'll take days off any day of the week at all. :-)
