Welcome again to Friday's Fave Five. Are you ready to take a look at your week and find your Five Favorite things about it. I must admit when I sat down I thought this was going to be really hard. It wasn't the easiest week of my life. But once I started to look back there were five favorite things, albiet mixed up in the chaos, but they were there. So if you'd like to join in, please make a Fave Five post and don't forget to sign on to Mr. Linky! If you're new, details are
here. And if you'd like to grab the new button for February, feel free!
So onto my five favorite things from the week:
1. Youth leaders. I am so appreciative of people who feel called and take on youth groups. Bless you, if you are one of them. It is certainly a job I could never do. Getting the Word into our kids, building relationships with them, encouraging relationships within the group, living out the Christian life in front of the kids, being available for them and allowing yourself to have their kind of fun, I'm telling you I totally admire and am so thankful for you.
2. Throat Formula Organic Tea. Apparently now called Throat Coat. I'm telling you this has been a gift this week. My sister gave me this when I last had a really bad sore throat and I wasn't too nuts about the taste, but this week my throat was so sore I didn't care about the taste and I'm telling you, this was so soothing. I now quite enjoy the taste, sorta licoricey and it does the job. So a nice hot mug of this throughout the day is definitely one of my favorite things this week.
3. Birthday Celebrations. More specifically, celebrating my one and only son's 17th. Can it really be he is that old already. He's my homebody. He's quite content being at home, celebrating his birthday with his family and Grandmother's. He's such a good boy! And he'd be totally embarrased to know I just said that.
4. Going downstairs and seeing my "library". I have wanted a bookshelf for years and hubby blessed me on my last birthday with a literal wall of them. I walk into the tv room and just sigh when I see them. This isn't all my books on it yet but I just had to show you. Ignore the the ugly wall behind it and just feast your eyes upon the loveliness of the shelves. My hubby totally doesn't get my love for books and reading or of bookshelves so it was an extra special gift that he actually got me three!
5. And last but definitely not least was talking to Kay on the phone. It's always so good to hear her voice and hear her telling me about her days away at school. And yeah, that I can actually call her for free anytime on my cell phone plan. Yipee for that.
Tell me, what's your favorite things this week? Don't forget to sign Mr. Linky if you done a post. Make sure you use the URL for your specific post and not just your homepage. That will help those of us who like to spread out our reading or can't come until the next day or next week to get to your post. Have a great weekend and happy Fave Friday!

I love book shelves too! You can't have too many books (actually you can and I do)!
Happy Friday to you!
I love your book shelf :) and how great is it that your son wanted his birthday at home :) oh and sorry for not linking properly.
I so enjoyed your shares, Susanne! The Throat Coat is a new one to me--but I will certainly remember that item when my next sore throat rolls around!
Ah, happy bd to your boy! He DOES look like a sweetie--what a lovely family photo!
Your bookcases looks wonderful--your husband is truly a great guy for giving them to you!
I also love those 'free' long distance calls our cell phones provide for us. It's hard to believe the "olden days" when you called a "long distance operator"!!
Thanks for hosting the ff5!!! Dana
I loved reading this...and guess what? I decided to finally join in!
I didn't have such a super week either, but I think this is exactly why I wanted to do this...
Thanks for hosting, Susanne!
I'm starting the Fave Five this week and I'm really excited about sharing an attitude of gratitude. It's contagious, you know!
HBD to your boy! I have a bad throat this week, too. LOVE the bookshelves. I'm in the processing of "looking" for shelves.
This is my first week doing a Fave five and I am very excited! I enjoy yours very much! I LOVE your book shelf!
OMGosh...those bookshelves are GORGEOUS!! ('Course, *most* of my books reside on a board-and-brick makeshift shelving, so I covet ANY "real" case!!)
I luv this Friday Fave idea too...great way to round out the week. I believe I'll go read all the entries, and perhaps start to play along myself!
Have a wonderful weekend ahead, y'all!
Belated Happy B-day to your boy Suzanne!!
I'm with you on youth leaders - God bless them!!
Great bookshelves - I have a wall of them too but they are packed with books just like a library - no room for plants or decorative things - and I still have boxes of boxes here and there.
I hope your throat is better soon.
And I hope you get a good rest this weekend.
I saw this at Willow's blog and I'm joining in for the first time too this week! It's a great idea to count your blessings, even if the week was not all that great! Sometimes we just forget too quickly!
Great Favorites Susanne. I love bookshelves, too. Yours are beautiful. How sweet that you 17 year old is content to enjoy his birthday with the family and that he can be flanked by both his grandmothers!! Hope your throat is all better. I had some great conversations with daughter this week too and love to get calls from her...
#3- very sweet!
Love the bookshelves!
We love Throat Coat! I'm so glad to hear it has helped you, too.
Nice birthday picture. Happy 17th to your son.
Hooray and hallelujah for bookshelves! I think it was Jan Karon who said, "As long as you have any floor space at all, you have room for books." However, they do look nicer in a bookshelf.
Your Friday's Fave Five is a great idea, Susanne. I'm so glad that I found your site.
Great list! happy Birthday to your son!
Great Library!!!
Happy Birthday to your son! My son would be just as content to have it at home as well.
Thanks for the mention of youth leaders. That gives me the extra enthusiasm I need as I prepare to soon leave with 9 Jr Highers on a 4 hour drive to join almost 150 more for a weekend youth retreat.
Look out gym floor for sleeping, cold community showers, and school cafeteria food... here I come!! :-)
And your bookshelves are lovely! Look at those books to dive into.
Terrific fives, Susanne - full of gratefulness for people and family. Happy weekend to you as you enjoy your bookshelves!
Hi Susanne,
Thank you for allowing me to join in the fun! Your book shelves are gorgeous!
Have a wonderful weekend and God Bless!
Sharon
I was in the same place as you a couple of weeks ago - tough week! I too was surprised that once I started thinking about it, it was easy to find 5 good things! God is good.
I love the bookcase - my books are my best friends.
I enjoyed reading your faves this week, Susanne! Your son is very handsome! wow...17! I never heard of that sore throat med before..will have to remember that one! Mine is finally up. I was late today due to work and taking my teen to her final mid-term! and I LOVE the button for the month!
Susanne,
I love your bookcase. What a lucky reader you are. I'm lobbying for a wall of bookshelves in our basement and keeping my fingers crossed because I never have enough room for all my books.
You cool son and your bookshelves are my favorite things on your list. It's so neat to have a sweet teenager. I love that. And book cases! It's so neat to have those, too!
I joined y'all this week for the first time! Thanks for hosting!
I didn't join today, I've had my hands full with sick kids all week :)
Loved reading your list and I literally felt giddy at that bookshelf LOL
Great list! I finally got mine up too!
beautiful shelves! obviously, your hubby loves you much!
A teenager that you can call a good kid is a blessing beyond blessings!
Great list....hope you are feeling better!
Love the cute new button!!
I didn't get to this today -- working on other things with deadlines all day.
The bookshelves are so nice! My husband doesn't understand, either. He sees no reason to keep a book once it has been read. But he is very tolerant of my addiction. :-)
Happy birthday to your son!
Your bookshelves are awesome, now you've got plenty of space for your treasures!
Happy belated 17th birthday to your son too!
