For those of you who were interested this is the advent book I spoke of in this Traditions post. The two front flaps open to reveal the 24 individual little books that tell the story of Jesus birth from the angel coming to Mary, to the trip to Bethlehem, to the birth of our Savior.

Another book down in the Fall Reading Challenge. This was one of my added books. One I had on hold at the library so when it came in I had to read it or else lose it and then who knows when it would come around again.
This is book #3 in the "Annie's People" Series by Beverly Lewis. I enjoyed the first two books, being a lover of Amish fiction, and I was looking forward to this one. I did enjoy it. The characters are so very real, with real struggles that you can relate to. The description of Amish life and traditions and beliefs are laid out in an understanding manner.
This series is about an Amish girl who is struggling with whether she will be joining the church or possibly "jumping the fence". I thoroughly enjoyed this story but was sad to find out it was the last in the series as I thought there were a few questions that did not get answered by the end of the story. If you are a Beverly Lewis fan or an Amish fiction fan you will like this last installment.

I love that Advent book! The second I saw the picture, I wanted to buy it - and yay! I can! Guess what my kids are getting for Advent this year...
I've never read Beverly Lewis but I'll be checking this series out now. I've always enjoyed reading about the Amish and their way of life.
I know what you mean about wishing there were more books in a series. I wish Jan Karon would get busy and write some more about Mitford.
The Advent book is adorable. What a great gift for my grandchild, when he gets just a little older, say next Christmas? I'm making a note of where to find this. I love the idea of taking the little books out and putting them on the tree.
That's a great tip on the Advent book - good alternative to the candy calendars!

I just ordered it! Looks great!I'm glad I had an amazon gift certificate to use! Another thing we like is the *Adornaments* from familylife.com.Have you seen these?..it has the names of Christ from scripture on ornaments that are hung on the tree.There is also a cd that comes with it with songs for each ornament....we do this every year.
The nativity book looks fabulous!!
I "found" Beverly Lewis last year. I've not yet read this one. Guess I can add it to my list (if I ever get time to read again that is....) :-)
When I read my last Beverly Lewis book I checked it out from the library in large print and found I could read while on the treadmill.
Hey... maybe that's a way I can read the book AND exercise... hmmm. I may be making a stop at the local library this weekend! :-)
I read this book also..along with all her other books. I enjoy her books alot, she is my favorite author. If you havent already check out her cookbook..its awesome.
I absolutely love Beverly Lewis although I haven't read too many. I just finished The Preacher's Daughter and thought it was one of the best books I ever read. I am trying to get my hands on The Englisher but my library doesn't have it. I got 2 other's by her.
I really enjoy reading about the Amish. I'll be sure to look that one up in our library. Thanks!

You sure are full of good information! I love the calendar and I don't believe I have read any Beverly Lewis books before. I read "Crossing Over" by Ruth Irene Garrett about 6 years ago which was about a girl leaving her Amish community. The Amish are such an interesting group of people.
I love that Advent book! I was wondering about it when you first wrote about it, so I am glad that you took pictures!
Canada does sound like a great place to live, although I truly know very little about it. That's why I am so fascinated with your blog and news. I won't be moving that far, though.
Susanne, this was on my fall reading challenge too. I really liked it. I do think she wrapped it up alittle too quickly, but at least it wasn't as gut-wrenchingly sad as some of the others she has written.

Congrats on another book in the challenge! I'm doing well too, but I sort of cheated and only put fiction books on my list (what I enjoy, no challenges!). I have bought the first Annie's People book and the first 2 in the Abram's Daughters series, but have not read any of them yet. I put other books on my Fall Challenge list, so I'm hoping to get to them after the holidays. I also put the rest of those 2 series in my wishlist at Amazon, so maybe someone will get the hint and get me some for Christmas :)
Love the Advent book too, what a wonderful tradition to have in your family :)
