Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all my Canadian friends. And while we celebrate this special weekend here in Canada I'm thankful I have all you wonderful people who join me on the regular to make being thankful an intentional way to live our lives everyday not just on a holiday once a year. ~ lunch with a friend ~ after several attempts to get together we were finally able to pull off getting together on Saturday. It was a couple hours of catching up, encouragement, tears and laughter. And the food was delicious too!
~ playground days ~ the weather has been gorgeous this week which has been a life saver. There is a teacher's strike going on here so that means no school. Which means I have 2 kids who normally would come 3 days a week now coming 5 days a week. But it also means with no school I have 2 playgrounds available! We been going to one or the other everyday! So thankful we can get out and burn off energy in the fresh air everyday!
~ river bottom walk ~ I love taking walks down in the river bottom park. Sunday was cool and crisp but the fall leaves made it a lovely walk. Even saw a couple of young deer munching away on some vegetation. So nice having access to all sorts of trails in lovely areas.
~ speaking of deer ~ twice this week there have been deer in our neighborhood. This guy was playing pick a side of the street with us when we went for a walk. We kept crossing the street away from him so it would freak out Tux. Then yesterday morning the kids spotted a family of dear in the schoolyard across the street. When they finally came out the gate, funny enough they crossed the street right in the crosswalk. Would have been fun to get a picture of that. I never get tired of seeing deer in the neighborhood.
~ hanging in there ~ though I've started to clear out some of the planters as mentioned last week, I haven't touch my front porch flowers because they are still gorgeous and I just don't have the heart to pull them when they still look so lovely. I'll enjoy every minute I can get out of them.
Very simple blessings for me this last week. But things that lifted me up nonetheless. How about you? What were the blessings you saw in your life this last week?

We had a teacher strike here last year as well in three of the surrounding communities. It was rough. I'm glad that you are finding the silver lining. The deer are beautiful to see and your flowers look lovely.
I love simple blessings. Happy Thanksgiving! We're having lovely weather here, too. I love lunch with friends. How fun to see deer on your walks and even in the neighborhood. Our wildflowers were looking pretty sad, and I was about to ask my husband about cutting them down. But they're having a last hurrah, so I'm glad we waited.

Deer are always fun to watch. i haven't seen any on my mountain hikes this year (although i've seen their scat!!) BUT just driving down our road, I see them often...right here in suburbia.
Glad you can get the little ones outdoors for play time in the fresh air. that is the best!
My flowers are on their last legs. Last night was a gentle frost and i forgot one was predicted as it had been so warm....so...my yellow mums died overnight. The bunny ate my purple mums. sigh. But....no one is touching the pumpkins I have in the front and back yards due to me painting them with hot sauce. :)

Faith: Hahaha It never occured to me that pumpkins on porches would get eaten. I've never had my pumpkins eaten on the steps so you putting hot sauce on yours cracked me right up.

I love your front porch flowers! Yes, keep them as long as you can (and hope the deer don't eat anything).
Walks in nature are the best! I'm glad you had that wonderful walk and saw the deer.
We also had a teacher strike in Belgium, and a lots of other strikes too, often Bus drivers or the trains ! And in France it is even worse they strike all the time for everything ! I would also leave your still beautiful flowers they look so fresh and colorful !
