Friday's Fave Five #858

Happy October!  And welcome to Friday's Fave Five!  It's definitely feeling fallish here with weather cooling off and the leaves turning and being blown by the winds.

~ fall clean up started ~ usually I put off with emptying planters and flower beds because I want to enjoy the flowers as long as possible but then I usually get caught with the weather changing drastically quickly and then I'm stuck trying to pull flowers out of very cold and hard dirt or have to wait for the first snow dump to melt and it's a mess.  This year I told myself that wouldn't happen so I've been slowing pulling out the flowers a little at a time starting with the saddest.  Hopefully I will get to them all before we have a freak snow storm.  My front porch planters are all still so pretty it breaks my heart but it's gotta get done and I know in the long run I'll be glad.

~ friend tradition ~ every year we can my friend and I go and tour the show homes together.  Saturday was our day.  As per tradition, we grab a coffee shop coffee and head out.  This year we started with the biggest and most expensive but ended on what both of us felt was the best one.  It had a library at the top of the stairs.  How can that not be my favorite?!We both enjoy it and it's fun to spend time together.

~ autumn clean up at church ~ at our church every fall on a Wednesday night, all the bible studies get together along with anyone else who wants to come and we scour the church from top to bottom.  When I got there it looked like a busy bee hive with everyone busy with buckets and brooms.  This year there were so many people it took just over an hour!  And the time goes fast as you get to visit while you work.  I was home before a regular night of bible study would have even been over.  Hmmm maybe we should all do each other's houses, one a week!  LOL.

~ bible study leader ~  I'm really thankful for a wonderful bible study leader.  She has a heart for the Lord and the ladies in her study.  She is empathetic yet challenges you.  She lets people talk and knows when to move on.  She has a wonderful sense of humor.  And she is sensitive and quick to pray.  Very thankful for my group as a whole.

~ fall hand soaps ~  I love the scents of fall, even in the hand soaps.  So I loaded up on some new ones and some old faves.  With the dayhome kids I go through tons of hand soap and they are so funny when they get so excited to see a new bottle on the counter.  I have to admit I like starting a new one too.

What have been your favorite blessings from this last week?

And as per my question last week,  if you want to share in the comments how do you think you can intentionally be a blessing to someone else this week?

I'm so envious of your bible study. I have been longing for a good bible study but there isn't a church in my area where there is one during non-work hours.

The group fall clean-up at church is such a great idea! I don't think I have ever gone to a show home but I have a friend in another state who enjoys doing that. I never thought about pulling flowers out before winter. Ours just die off until there's not much left of them. A great Bible study leader is worth her weight in gold.

First: I can be a blessing to my own small group by calling or texting each member to see if they have more prayer needs or if they need help with anything. I hope to be the kind of small group Bible study leader that you mentioned in your faves!

Love all of your blessings from the week especially the idea of your church coming together for a clean up day and that you and your friend had a day together....i would LOVE an actual room in my home for a library/coffee corner. But....my "library" is in the living room.

YAY for the Autumn scented hand soaps. the ones I'm enjoying currently is an Apple one in the upstairs bathroom and Harvest something by BBB in the guest/half bathroom.

ENJOY the weekend

I do appreciate a talented Bible study leader who can keep a gaggle of women in line. :) What a fun tradition with your friend! Happy October to you.

Many years I haven't got around to it but then it's a huge mess because we don't have snow that comes and stays for winter. It comes and goes and the chinook winds come in. And then it's way more work in the spring.

Faith, I love your idea on how you can be a blessing. We can all do that with people we know.

I enjoyed reading your list. I am taking a break from my Bible study and groups while I recover from face surgery. I can't use candles because of allergies. I need to find some essential oil recipes that I can enjoy for the fall. I enjoy teaching the girls in my Bible journaling class. I am planning a craft for them in November.

I am lucky no cleaning any more, no garden work either the only thing I did was moving summer clothes aside and warmer once in the front ! We still have around 18°but there is a cold wind.

That's a great idea to get everyone together to clean up the church - so often these jobs get left to just a few people and it makes it hard. Yes it is definitely colder and we're in the middle of the first "named" storm of the year here so it's been very wet and windy today. Sounds like a fun day out with your friend. Have a good weekend Susanne. Most weeks I'm a blessing to our community by volunteering at the food bank.

I guess that helping my son's family unpack two storage pods this morning as they move into their home is one way I blessed them.
Our weather hasn't cooled down much yet; we are hoping that next week we will get some truly autumn weather.
I love that your church does a huge cleaning project in one day. Everyone can do something.
That house tour sounds like a lot of fun. And I agree that a good Bible study leader is a blessing.

(Even here, we're getting a little fall-ish)

Good planning for your fall clean up. It's a hard trade (a little beauty now for the mad rush later), but sounds like you'll be glad.

That's a fun tradition with a friend. I've often wished we had a library tour around here...

I like the community aspects of the church clean-up. Think how much faster house cleaning would be with more dispassionate workers making decisions about what to keep -- or maybe a bit scary!

How lovely you have a good leader in your Bible study. Makes all the difference for group dynamics.
