Friday's Fave Five #849

August 1st.  How can that be?  Wow, this summer is just flying by.  Thanks for taking some time to pause in your lives to stop and join in on Friday's Fave Five.  I am so thankful for this community who comes together each week to take a moment to show gratefulness for the blessings in our lives.  If you've never joined in now's a good time!!

~ massage ~ I used to regularly go for a monthly massage due to neck and upper back tightness.  Then covid happened.  When all that started to open again I just never went back.  Well five years later and now some crazy arm issues are happening.  Weird stuff like not being able to hold my arm up in certain ways without it collapsing, weakness in my arm and hand.  And the latest is 2 of my fingers going into this weird cramp.  And no, it's not carpel tunnel.  One doc thought it was my shoulder so sent me to physio.  Physio thought it was my tricep and work on that but only got so far.  My last doc sent me for carpel ultra sound.  Nope.  But what has everyone stumped is other than the pain from the finger cramp when it's happening I'm not experiencing any pain at all.   My new doctor is trying to figure it out, she thinks I have a pinched nerve in my neck,  but in the meantime has recommended I go back to massage because my neck and tops of my shoulders were so tight.  So I called the massage therapist up and booked in again.  Long story short, she did some trigger point work.  Let's just say it was not a fun or relaxing massage.  OUCH!  I was tender and achy the next day.  But by the third day of recovery I was noticing some of the symptomatic issues in my hands were not happening.  So I'm biting the bullet and going to try what she recommends and that is 6 weekly sessions of the intense trigger point work.  Yikes!  I'm really praying it works because these arm issues have not been getting better on their own.  But I'm thankful I am able to have a knowledgeable therapist and good doctor who are working to try to figure this out.

~ clean blinds ~ I have this week off and one of my goals was to get started on cleaning the blinds in my house.  One of my least favorite jobs ever.  It doesn't help that we have a lot of mini blinds in this house.  But this time around I got the great idea after giving them a 10 minute soak in the tub, I sprayed them with this product.  Then it was just a gentle brush with a scrub brush followed by a rinse and they were amazingly clean.  Even the greasy dusty ones from the kitchen that hang in the area near the stove.  I couldn't believe how clean they got with way less effort than I've ever used on them before.  Glad that chore is done.  And thankful I found the product that made the job pretty easy.

~ treats shared from the garden ~ my sister shared some wonderful fresh onions and parsley from her garden with me.  I'm always thankful for these wonderful gifts when people pass them my way as I don't have a garden of my own.  Nothing like homegrown!

~ short wait on "hold" ~ I had to call the governments dental care plan to confirm some things with them and was prepared for a long wait in the queue.  Last time I called a Government help line I was on hold for over an hour and a half.  But this one was painless as the call was answered within 10 minutes and they helped me in even less time.  What a blessing not to have my time tied up sitting on hold.

~ relaxed days ~ it has been a huge blessing this week that I have off to have relaxed days.  Even though I've been busy catching up with things that have been shoved on the back burner for way too long, there is an easiness to the days when you can get up when you're body tells you too, you can start the day with a leisurely coffee and not hit the floor running and when you can pause in chores to take a break when you need to.  When I'm working, even though I work in my home, my days are scheduled and though not rigid they are definitely not leisurely or relaxed.  I've loved having that blessing this week.

What have been your favorite blessings this last week?

Sorry to hear about your arm and hand issues but hope the treatment will work. Yay for a week off just to relax and recharge - you need it in your line of work. Have a good weekend Susanne.

I'm sorry to hear about your arm and finger issues. That is not fun! It's nice to be able to be home for a bit and catch up on things...including relaxing.

Isn't Dawn detergent wonderful?! glad your chore is done. When we built our house in 1994 we decided NO blinds or shades were going in except we did have room darkening shades when the girls were babies until they turned 10 and then we switched to semi sheer curtains which we love under the valance layering look. works for us.
I love that you could experience lazier, slower paced days. Just wait til you retire!!
Homegrown veggies are the best! I've been enjoying my home grown basil and now wish I had done cherry tomatoes. Oh well there's always next year.
YAY for short government calls.
I get trigger point work done via my PT weekly for my neck. Sometimes it's a cord compression that causes those hand and finger symptoms. In my situation it's the cord compression and herniated disc at C6-C7 but since having consistent chiro and PT the numbess and tingling in legs and arms/hands has gone away. And yeah trigger point work leaves you in pain for a day but then the rest of the week is heavenly usually. I'll be praying for you.

The arm issue sounds scary. I'm glad the massage helps. Cleaning blinds is not my favorite, either. Thankfully, last time my husband took them down and power-washed them. I will have to keep my eye out for that product.

You reminded me my neighbor shared some garden produce with us this week, too. I forgot to mention that.

It's amazing to get through any government call so soon. Nice!

So glad you had some relaxed days. Even though they were still filled with tasks, it's nice to go at your own pace and get some of those needed jobs taken care of.

Your week off was a blessing in many ways-- cleaning done, the massage to help the pain in your arm and shoulder, phone calls accomplished. The relief from your pain must be a huge one.
Enjoy all those homegrown yummies!

I do hope the massage treatment works well for you. Mini blinds...oye. Thanks for the product recommendation. Enjoy the rest of your 'off' days!

Poor girl nothing is worse when X doctors can't find the reason why it hurts somewhere. I had that with my left arm ! They treated my arm, nothing changed until one day I was sent to a therapist who did neck massages ! And what happened in a few weeks nothing hurt anymore it had been a nerve who was stuck ! And I had suffered for month with my arm in a sling !
