Welcome to Friday's Fave Five. We're intentionally looking for our blessings in our every day lives, whether big or small. Whether it's been a good week or a difficult week. Looking for those moments God has sent us good things to lift us up. Won't you join us?
~ crockpot meals ~ Sunday was the first Sunday back to church for me since my Mom went into hospital at the beginning of December. It was a hectic morning trying to get back into Sunday routine. Days like this I'm so thankful for my hard working crockpot who cooked us up a fine meal of bbq pork chops while we were away at church. In the winter months my crockpot gets a good workout as it's used quite frequently because it's such an easy way to have a great meal ready at the end of a long day. Basically just toss, season and go.
~ tea ~ I always know when I'm coming down with something is when this coffee loving gal turns her nose up at coffee and seeks out the tea cupboard, even in the morning. Such was the case this week as the weekend's "feeling off" turned into a winter cold. There is something so soothing and healing about a hot cup of tea when one isn't feeling well. I've got a good stash of them, both herbal and black teas, so I just went with whatever my body was craving at the moment.
~ organization ~ I have had a to-do list of getting certain areas of the house organized and cleaned up, but it has been on the back burner for so long. Finally this week I took the plunge and got started. Though it was tough going at first the longer I spent at it the more motivated I became. It felt so good to finally be dealing with all the chaos. By the weekend hopefully I'll have made a good dent in the dayhome storage room which has blown up with all sorts of stuff that has nothing to do with dayhome.
~ cozy lounging outfit ~ my friend gifted me a cozy outfit to lounge around in for my birthday. I don't usually have separate clothes to lounge around in but this comfy outfit now has me questioning why not?! It's so soft and warm and comfortable. Perfect pairing with a good book.
~ sunshine and fresh air ~ December was a month where I was not able to get out much so it was a pleasure to be able to get out into the sunshine on a beautiful day yesterday. What a blessing the crisp air was with the warmth of the sun. So thankful for those moments.
What were your favorite blessings this week?

Your cozy lounging outfit looks both pretty and comfortable. I think it's important to treat yourself easy after the loss of your mother. You will need extra care and comfort. I don't like coffee when I am not feeling well either. I sure do like it when I'm feeling fine though!
Don't you just LOVE lounge wear? As soon as I would get home from teaching, I'd change into my lounge wear in the winter months unless I had to schlep one of the girls to an after school activity. I'm so glad you've discovered them! a truly special gift! (and yes I sometimes wear my lounge wear to run a quick errand :) )
LOVE the fresh air and sunshine in winter. Glad you got to enjoy it.
I need to tackle our basement this winter....can you hand me some motivation?!!
I hope you have a wonderfully relaxing weekend. and that you feel better soon.
I have a few favorite crockpot meals, but need to explore some more. It's so cozy to smell dinner cooking all afternoon and makes the late afternoon before dinner so much more peaceful.
I've been on an organizing bent, too--something about January brings that out in me. Mine has mostly involved paperwork.
Those lounging pants look so comfy.
I enjoy my crockpot during the winter months as well. So easy to fix a meal and for me, a meal will last a few days.
I too love teas. They are a comfort to me. I've had to switch to decaf so I've been experimenting with different herbal teas.
I do like your lounging outfit. Right now I'm wear what are technically pj bottoms. I don't like them for sleeping but they are perfect for lounging when I have no plans to go outside.
Have a warm, safe weekend.
I think sometimes when we're dealing with difficult situations (like the bereavement you've just had) we manage to keep colds etc at bay but then when we're able to relax a little bit that's when we succumb to the bugs. I hope you soon feel better Susanne but in the meantime look after yourself and enjoy lounging in your comfy clothes.
It's probably not a coincidence that you're feeling under the weather, after the past couple of months. Sometimes the body gifts us with some down time. Your lounging pants looks so cozy and pretty. Take good care of yourself.
I like my comfy clothes a lot...maybe too much. :) Hope you feel tip top again soon. Grief takes a lot out of us. Praying right now for strength and peace.
Hmm, I need to pull out my crockpot and make some easy dinners on those busy days. Thanks for the reminder.
Comfy clothes-- especially in the mornings and evenings.
Teas work wonders, don't they? I hope you are well now.
I'm with you - crock pot meals are perfect for busy Sunday mornings getting ready to be at church on time. I love your lounge outfit. What a nice gift. I am glad that a special tea gave you some comfort when you weren't feeling 100% ! Have a good weekend. See you again soon!
So much coziness in your fives this week. You've got me looking up bbq pork chops for crock pot! Hope the tea does the job and you get on the mend soon.
Congrats on tackling the organization project. What a blessing to already feel more motivated.
I always wear a cozy lounging outfit so comfortable as soon as I come home early evening ! Then I can really relax. I also had a time where I suddenly drank tea ! I didn't like coffee anymore, but now I am back to coffee. You must have had a hard time behind you, we had some people passing away here in my "castle" it is strange that so many people choose Christmas time to leave this world.
