Friday's Fave Five #723

Welcome to Friday's Fave Five.  Let's take a moment to pause and think about all the good blessings and gifts from God that have come into our lives.  What was good in your life this last week?  What made you smile, brought you joy?  Made your life simpler or worked out for you?  What lifted you up?  What are you grateful and thankful for?  Here at Friday's Fave Five we take a few moments to intentionally put our buys selves on pause to find these blessings, large and small, and be thankful for them.  If you are new, welcome and please join in.  Guidelines are linked in the sidebar.

~ first aid certified ~ my job requires I become first aid certified.  It's been a few years since I took it.  Here in Alberta one's certification lasts 3 years.  Mine ran out a bit before covid and so it got put on the back burner.  Now I needed to recertify within 3 months of contracting with an agency.  I chose to go the online route this time as I could pace out the theory part to when it was convenient for me.  Sunday I was booked for the in person section and exam.  This teacher made it so stress free.  I was worried about nothing.  And now I'm done again for 3 years.

~ ointment ~ I have done something to strain my elbow and it is really painful at times during the day and I wake up with it sore.  Until I can get in to a doctor I have been using Watkin's medicated ointment on it before going to bed.  (Not the most romantic smell but hey, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do).  It's really helped and getting this picture of it I found out I can go to a certain drug store in my neighborhood and get it instead of having to find a rep who sells it and waiting for it to come in.

~ little free libraries ~ I found another couple of Little Free Libraries fairly close to my home and scored a couple of books in great shape that I've been wanting to read, one of them being one I almost bought not that long ago. That makes about a dozen of them that I visit on a fairly regular basis.  I love my public library too but with these I can take my time and read the books whenever I want and take as long as I want and when I'm done they'll go back into a little library so someone else can enjoy them. Love these little things and hope to have one in front of my house one day.

~ beeswax lip balm ~ bought it at a Christmas market in Calgary and really love it.  Can't even tell you the name of the local person that made it but it's all natural and I got fun flavors like root beer and coffee.  And it actually works well.  Which is a must in winter around these parts.

~ commitment free weekend ~ I am so looking forward to the first weekend in a long time where I do not have a commitment other than Sunday morning church. Gonna find my biggest coffee mug, grab the current book I'm enjoying and take full advantage!   It's going to be great!

What are the blessings you have come into your life this last week?

How fun to find another Little Free Library. There is one in the park where I walk the bike path when the weather is good and I noticed quite a few good titles in there last time I was there. I love to read and since I'm alone in the house for an entire week, I will be curling up with my coffee and my latest fiction book most of the weekend!

YAY for good ointments...I was going to recommend Deep Blue essential oils rub for your elbow but looks like you found something similar.

Congrats on finishing the First Aid Cert. I know that's a huge relief when those required trainings are completed.

I love a good lip balm. I'm currently enjoying a new one by Avon: LEMON....it's just amazing.

I hope you have a wonderfully relaxing weekend.

Good work on getting the certification done! It will be nice not to have to think about that for another few years. I have not seen any little free libraries here. I love the idea. That ointment sounds good. I use Icy Hot spray for areas I can't reach on my back. It's lovely to have a free weekend. Enjoy!

Hi Susanne. What a great feeling to have finished your first aid certification. Good for you! My mom used to use Watkins salve so that part of your post brought back good memories of my childhood. I haven't seem that stuff around for years. Did know it was still made, but I am glad you found it and that it works for you. I'm glad that you don't have anything really planned for the weekend, so that should be a nice and relaxing couple of days for you. Have a good one. See you again soon!

Congrats on getting your first aid recert out of the way. When I was working as a nurse, I had to recertify my CPR every two years. Thankfully, I never had to use those skills.

I'm glad you found the ointment locally. I used to use Biofreeze for pain and it had to be ordered. Now it's in several places.

I've seen photos of those little free libraries. What a great idea. I'm glad you've been able to make use of them.

Enjoy your non-committment day!

So good to have that certification behind you for another 3 years. Enjoy your 'free' weekend. Those are so good and so needed especially for someone like you who works hard all week. Blessings!

So many good things, Susanne! But your last one "commitment free weekend" reminds me of the line in Pride and Prejudice, "We have no fixed engagements" has been my goal lo these many years. Enjoy yours!

Oh how wonderful to have a whole unscheduled weekend! Enjoy!
Love the little free libraries. My younger daughter had one at her former home. I hope the new owners are continuing to use it.
Congrats on getting the first aid certification done!
Have a great weekend just resting.

Ooh we have little free libraries near us too - love using them and I've also volunteered to have one but I might need to chase that up. Hope you're arm is better soon. Well done on getting recertified for your First Aid. I had to do that when I was working. Oh enjoy your free weekend - we are booked to babysit Nathan and Ella tomorrow evening. It will be lovely to see them but they are a nightmare to put to bed. Thankfully, as yet, we have no plans for Sunday.

So if I need first aid, I can fly over and you can take care of me ! What a nice idea !
Sorry for your elbow, sometimes old cremes are better then the new once !
If it helps just continue ! With this bronchitis finished now, I am quite weak and have to rest a lot, so Sundays which you appreciate (understandable) I have the whole week and I want my old life back, at least going out to buy fruits, without falling into pieces !
