Friday's Fave Five #649

Welcome to Friday's Fave Five.  It's our small space here to intentionally join as a group and find some things to be thankful for in our last week, to make sure we pause our busy lives for a moment and find those blessings.  If you are new you can pop over to the guidelines linked in the sidebar and then just feel free to hop right in!

~beautiful weather to take mom out and for a nice walk around a neighborhood "lake"~ We've been having absolutely beautiful fall days so Sunday we took Mom out into the neighborhood where her supportive living home is and enjoyed some sunshine.  A few blocks away is a lovely neighborhood "lake" and it was filled with geese who had come to cool off which she really enjoyed.  I'm glad this little piece of nature is nice and close to where she lives and we can take her to enjoy it.

~HOT coffee~ Saturday I got to enjoy a full cup of coffee that was actually hot.  It seems I rarely have that.  A sip or two, yes, but a full cup, not very often.  I'm notorious for pouring a cup and then getting distracted, which is not hard to do when you work with kids, so I'm always sipping on a lukewarm or room temp coffee.  May I say hot coffee is wonderful?!

~cool mountain weather mornings and scents~ the days may be warm but the nights have been cooling off and we are waking up to what I call mountain weather.  It's cool and crisp and just smells so nice.   I love it outside first thing in the morning when I wake up and let the dog out.  It goes well with that first sip of hot coffee.

~nap times to myself~ My childcare has had a big turnover with 5 of my 6 kids changing up.  My new group ALL still take naps, which hasn't happened in a few years.  I actually get about a 2 hour time slot of peace and quiet, where I can pick up, clean up after lunch, prep, throw in a load of laundry or even have an actual lunch hour like most working folk.  It is glorious and I'm enjoying it each day as I know at some point it will change.

~my dishwasher~ I was thinking this week how much I am thankful for my dishwasher.  It's a hard worker serving my childcare dayhome and my family.  If I didn't have one I would be doing lots of dishes every single day.

What are you thankful for this week?

I am loving the cooling temps as well. We are still unseasonably humid though…it’s been feeling like the tropics around here! Nice to get out for a bit of a walk in a pretty place with your mum.

I LOVE the quote you posted at the end of the FFF. Great faves this week....nothing like time in nature for ANY aged person.....nothing like a full cup of hot coffee. (hint: get your self a stainless steel coffee travel mug...stays warm for up to 8 hours..at least mine does, which almost every teacher in my site has!!)

yay for toddlers who take naps. I kind of wish the special ed preK class did nap time but....they ARE only with us from 8:30-1 so.....and we do NOT get a lunch hour. We squeeze a half hour in after they leave and before paperwork and meetings. you are blessed my friend!!

love the cooler nights here too!! all windows open!!

enjoy the weekend and another full hot cup of coffee :)

Hi Susanne. I always enjoy "nap time" when my kids were little. As much as I love my kids, nap time was like a little island of peace in the day. So glad that things are working well for you mom in her supported living situation. Yes, dishwashers are a modern convenience and a blessing that we sometimes don't fully appreciate, but sure do miss when they break down. Cooler fall weather after a really hot summer like this one has been, always feels like a blessing. Hope you have a good weekend. As always, thanks for hosting FFF!

So thankful for the beautiful weather! I love this time between the extremes of summer and winter. And it's wonderful there's such a nice area of nature close to where your mom lives.

I do that with coffee, too--I imagine it's even more a problem in your situation. Wow, how nice to have nap time! I can't imagine getting six kids to sleep at the same time! It's so nice to have that break to catch up and enjoy a lunch rather than eating on the run.

I am immensely thankful for my dishwasher, too.

These are great faves, Susanne. I especially the nap time where it's adding back some hours to your day for keeping up with the kids. I wish we had nap time at my company -- might slow the email torrent.

And here's to more hot coffee! I don't like those thermal/metal cups and wind up microwaving the last couple mouthfuls in my mug.

Roomie's mom's place has a small pond where they have outdoor seating for lunches. Glad your mom's place is near a pretty lake to enjoy.

Beautiful weather is wonderful. Glad you can enjoy some. Haha, I don't have a day care and I end up with lukewarm coffee, too. :)
My dishwasher is humming this morning.
Happy weekend to you.

I, too, am thankful for the beautiful September weather. After a horrific fire season here in British Columbia, the opportunity to enjoy the fresh air is a gift I do not take lightly!

Any time we can be out in nature is a huge blessing! I'm glad you were able to share that with your mom.
Dishwasher? Yes! I am thankful for mine, too!
Hot coffee is the best part of morning!
Have a good weekend!
