Hi everyone! This is going to be a very different Friday's Fave Five from me. I will not be listing 5 favorite blessings from this week but I will share with you what has happened this week.
Sunday morning our phone rang at 2:30 a.m. and I jumped out of bed thinking it was the supportive living home for my Mom. Turns out it was my youngest daughter calling. She was calling from an ambulance on a paramedics phone to tell me the house where she rents a room had had a house fire. But that she was ok. It is a phone call every parent dreads. But she said she was fine though only had the pj's she was wearing.
(Screenshot of the news footage)
Turns out the fire was so much worse than she was able to articulate through her shock to us on the phone. It was a 2 alarm fire and she literally lost everything she owned except the pajamas on her back. Her bedroom was above the garage where the fire started and took the brunt of the fire. We don't think there is anything to recover. When we saw the house that afternoon we were shocked at the damage and so grateful that she and the owner of the house were able to make it out along with the 2 cats. But when we saw the news footage of the fire we realized what a miracle it was that they made it out with relatively very little injury. The owner of the house broke his toe and received a small burn on his shoulder. Had the owner panicked and not remembered Tamara was sleeping in her room and raced to yell at her and wake her up she may not have made it. It does not escape us that the grace and mercy of God was extended to her that night.
(T's room is the one right above the garage with her bathroom to the right)
During this week, in the midst of this devastation and shock, we have been experiencing the goodness and love of God all around us through people. The amount of support and kindness that has been bestowed upon our daughter has left us in awe and very humbled. Her cousin immediately set up a Go Fund Me and people have shared it amongst their friends and we don't even recognize some of the names that have helped her out. Family, friends, aquaintances and total strangers have come together to rally around her in a time of her greatest need. It has truly been a miracle to watch and experience. We are so grateful and overwhelmed.
So that is why I can't list 5 blessings this week. There are just way to many to even start and would go on and on. What the devil meant for harm God has turned into good. Though we are overwhelmed at everything that now needs to be done and we know there will be trauma for her to process as the shock wears off we are also overwhelmed by the love shown towards our girl. We are blessed. And we are thankful. And we give God the glory for saving our girl!
What are your favorite blessings that you are grateful this week?

Oh my goodness there you got the shock of your life ! How terrible ! I can imagine how you felt on the phone and then seeing the disaster ! Your daughter was really so lucky that she could escape in time ! Life is not replaceable, things are. It's so nice that there are still more good people on our earth than bad once, but we only hear about the bad ! Your daughter should be very careful with the shock she got and if she hasn't it's better to see a doctor. I once had a car accident the car rolling over several times and I had nothing but days later the shock came out and I got high fiever. Can't remember anything else I was only 18.
The pictures look really terrible ! Courage and a big virtual kiss !
When you first posted the video on FB my jaw dropped at the devastation. (Canada doesn't require homes to have smoke alarms to wake one up????) I prayed for Tamara this morning and HALLELUJAH for people coming together. My group was honored to collect for her and we will continue to pray that she won't have major PTSD or whatever.
GOD IS GOOD and He IS our Protector!! Glory to God.
THanks for sharing more of the details. Try to have a restful weekend.
Oh my word, Susanne. What a horrible experience the fire must have been--but so thankful and blessed by God's deliverance and His gracious provision through His people. Praying for you all in the aftermath with everything that needs to be done, trauma to be processed, supplies to be bought, I'm sure probably paperwork and maybe insurance to handle.
Faith: They did have smoke alarms and it was working. The alarms went off in both their home and the attached home but it went from smoke to flames very quickly! Your prayers are very welcome and you and your group's gift is a huge blessing!. Thank you!!!!

Hi Susanne. I didn't see this on FB because I am not on FB much. Such a blessing that your daughter is safe. Prayers for everyone.
Blessings to you as you support your daughter through this tragic event. --Ann
Oh Susanne...praise our Father above for saving your daughter. What a life altering experience. Trusting that God will work out all for good. That she will be strengthened in her faith and not waver in doubt. May God comfort and lead you all with immediate and long term decisions.
I can't imagine what it must be like for Tamara and for you! Thankful that she is safe and unharmed. Prayers for you all and especially your daughter in the weeks and months ahead. xo
Wow. Just wow. It's probably a good thing you did not know the extent of the fire when your daughter called. God's mercy to her and the family. Praying that the aftermath will be resolved as smoothly as possible. And that God will provide for your girl!
I am just so thankful that your daughter is safe! Things can be replaced, but she can't.
Ever since I saw the post on facebook, I've been praying for you all.
What an awful shock for you all, especially Tamara. It's times like these that make you realise that possessions etc are not what's important in life. Family is what matters. It sounds like you have had lots of help and I hope there will soon be some sort of normality again for Tamara but yes, getting over the shock of this will take time. Lots of prayers being said and hopefully that helps you all x
