Friday's Fave Five #567

Hi everyone and welcome to Friday's Fave Five.  We're intentionally practicing taking a pause and looking for blessings in our lives, developing gratefulness for the good things God blesses us with, both big and small.  Please join us.

~this post and this post by our blogging friends Faith and Barbara~  One encourages us to be in the Word daily as it is food for our souls and the other gives some great wisdom to read and study the bible.  Both came at just the right time for me and were confirmation to what God was nudging me towards.

~heaters~  Alberta has been sitting in the deep freeze this week with temps in my area falling into the -27*C (with a "feels like" making it -34*C) range at night.  That's -17*F (feeling like -29*F) for my American friends.  Bone chilling cold.  Where my son lives in the capital of Alberta it went to -40*C!!   I have been very grateful this week for all kinds of heating.  Our home furnace and kept the cold at bay, our electric fireplace in the living room has added extra toastiness to the frigid evenings.  My car's heater has kept us warm as we drive.  Very grateful for all the warmth these heaters provide.

~hot nourishing soups and crockpot meals~   when cold like this we crave warm, one pot nourishment.  Meatball soup, cream cheese chicken, stew are just a few of the things that have got on the supper table.  Love these kinds of comfort foods.

~ new brush ~ for years I've been looking for a certain kind of brush. I finally came across it quite by accident and it'exactly what I wanted.  Just a little thing, but a blessing nontheless.

~ unexpected day off ~ Wednesday I was handed a day off I was not expecting.  I was so nice to just take it easy and get caught up on some chores that kept getting put on the back burner.

What have been your blessings from the last week?

My goodness - 27° I have never had such temperatures in my whole life ! the worst I ever experienced was -15° and that was a catastrophe for a lot of people because the heatings are not conceived for such temperatures ! Here we still have nearly autumn temperatures always around 8 and 10° during the day, and my weeds start to come out !!

Oh Susanne! I was touched that you were encouraged by my post and the funny thing is, that evening when i wrote it, i didn't feel like it!! I was very tired and all i wanted to do was curl up under fleece and read my book. But i felt God nudging me to share the word about the birds. Glad i listened!!

You know i love an unexpected day off....glad you hadone!

Our bitter cold temps are JUST arriving. They came overnight. As i type this at 7 a.m before work, our temp is 12 F. Yesterday was 44!!

I'm thankful for warm houses and cars too.

Yay for crockpot meals and the warmth of soups!!

Happy weekend!

Thanks so much for sharing my post! I'm so glad it was an encouragement to you.

Wow, that's super cold. I don't know if I could stand it. We're supposed to be in the teens this weekend. Brrr. I'm glad you've got good heaters. I love soups and stews this time of year, too.

I know what you mean by a little thing sometimes lifting your spirits and making your heart glad. Yay for finding the brush you wanted.

And an unexpected day off--what a blessing!

I love your favorites - little things that mean so much - like encouraging blog posts, heaters and an unexpected day off - blessings in the normal, everyday stuff. They are small things, but really NOT small at all. Have a good weekend! See you again soon!

Wow! That's COLD! Stay warm up there! I know I would be thankful for every heating option.

Soups are maybe my favorite food (after burritos!). I made a vegan zuppa toscana last night and we have "planned overs" for tonight. Yum!

An extra day off-- Nice! Have a warm and fun weekend!

Unexpected days off are wonderful!!! We are getting a cold snap here also. I'm sure it's nothing like yours, but I'll be pulling out the crockpot also. That cream cheese chicken sounds very interesting and probably good for a diabetic diet!! --Ann
p.s. I have to comment as "anonymous" due to difficulties with my log-in. Long story. :-)

Soup is perfect for the weather you're having. Wow, that's cold. It's been chilly here and I we haven't had a drop of snow all month.

I hope you had a nice weekend.
