Friday's Fave Five #521

Welcome to the deep freeze, I mean Friday's Fave Five.  Oh my goodness, it is still so cold out.  Brrr.  Time to warm up at least our hearts, if not our toes, with gratefulness and thankfulness for the blessings in our lives.  Please join us as we look over the last week and take note of the God's gifts and blessings, sharing five of our favorites.

~training day~ Saturday found me at the Samaritan's Purse headquarters in Calgary, AB for a training day for the Operation Christmas Child distribution trip I'm going on.  It was so exciting being there.  There were lots of great sessions and teaching, I learned so much.  There were lots of different teams there and I got to meet a few of my own team which is really nice.  And they fed us.  Super well.  Oh my the Thai Food lunch?  Excellent.  Such an exciting day.  I can't believe there is only 33 more days to go!

~girl time~ I went for this weekend with the other lady from church who is going on the trip and my friend.  We went up the Friday afternoon, my friend drove which was a real blessing as she is a pro at winter and highway driving so that was one less thing to stress about.  We stayed in a nice hotel and went out for a nice supper at a fun restaurant called Starbelly and did a little mall wandering. I was a good girl and didn't buy a thing.  It was a nice girl time full of laughter and encouragement.

~therazinc spraythis has been a saving grace this week, let me tell you.  As soon as I have felt anything trying to come I start  spraying the zinc into the back of my throat.  For the most part it has warded off any cold or sniffles.

~gestures of affection~ this big boy has taken to sitting with me for a bit in the evenings. As you can see he likes to hold hands. His warm fur and soft purring are quite soothing on these cold evenings.

~my fave chocolates~ my sweet valentine, my hubby, gifted me with my favorite chocolates for valentine's day.  It was a lovely thoughtful gift and I'm enjoying every single delicious bite!

What were your favorite blessings this week?

What am I doing up this late? Yikes.
I'm excited for you about your upcoming trip with Samaritan's Purse. What a wonderful experience it will be. Glad you have some training.
Yippee for girl time. Glad you are enjoying those chocolates. Stay cozy and warm. It's snowing here again...and again. We have to drive to Spokane Friday morning so I'll be praying all the way!

I'm sorry you are still having such cold temps to deal with, Susanne.

What a blessing that you were able to go for the Samaritan's Purse training with a friend who is also on the team. What a blessing to be a part of the distribution for Samaritan's Purse! I know you will enjoy your time immensely.

What a sweet cat you have. I love the markings on its fur.

I would say your husband scored big with the box of your favorite chocolates!

Have a wonderful weekend, Susanne.

How fun to have that training session and a bit of girl time, too. I am so excited for you! I have not heard of therazine spray, but I will look it up. We've had more trouble with sore throats this winter than we have in a long time. What a sweet photo of your kitty holding hands. I got my favorite chocolates, too!

The training weekend sounds awesome! So exciting!! I'm eager to hear about your experience when you go on the trip. LOVE the photo of your kitty. We used to have cats, before kids. They add such a feeling of cozy to a home, like books and a fireplace. Our dog wouldn't tolerate another four-legged being in the house, so we have been cat-less for a long time. I'm glad for you that the cold remedy worked.

We are lucky since two days we have 15° !! Unusual for February, but I prefer that to cold and snow ! Yes a cat so so comforting and anti stress proved ! Girls days are always fun ! It cuts a bit from the daily routine !

I'm sorry you are still having all that cold cold weather! My high school friend who lived in Foremost passed away last week and her brother (who lives in Palm Desert!) is visiting up there for the funeral. He's most likely frozen solid.
Such a sweet kitty to help you stay warm! I do love gingers!
And I'm excited for you as you prepare for the Samaritan's Purse trip. It's going to be a trip of a lifetime.
Stay warm!

You must be getting so excited for your trip. Your cat is very cute and your chocolates looked yummy. I hope your snow clears soon. We've had a really mild spell here but I'm worried that will mean a really cold spell at some point.
