Friday's Fave Five #345

It's Friday and that means it's time to look at the blessings and good things in our last week.  Find your five favourites and then share them with us.  It is truly fall like around here.  Routines are back in full swing, Our labour day long weekend is over and the days are getting shorter very quickly. And one of my favourite routines just happens to be FFF!

1.  My first favourite is a road trip on the long weekend to see K, my oldest child, who is no longer a child but you know what I mean.  It's a 6 -7 hour trip, depending on how many stops one makes.  We always have a good laugh because going there is like heading on a little holiday so we stop for bagels, and stop for Starbucks and stop to let the dog do his thing, stop for a burger, stop for gas.  It inevitably takes longer.  But coming home we are tired and we just want to get back to home sweet home.  We stop for gas and a burger.  Period.  LOL.  But it's always nice to see my oldest and this time was extra fun because we got to see her pictures from her summer trip to London, Paris and Scotland...all 1600 of them.  The weather was cold, so cold we didn't do a whole lot of any outdoor activities but curled up and visited, talked trips and books,   It was a lovely visit.

2.  Road trip reading!  Hubby is the main driver with me just taking over when he gets tired.  Which makes for lots of good reading time.  And because my daughter is a reader too, after hubby went to bed we sat up reading in between chatting.  I finished one book and got about 3/4 through the second.
3.  Warmer quilt on the bed.  Though it's not our great big winter quilt, it is thicker than the summer  coverlet we have.  I so prefer the puffier blankets that go into a duvet cover.  It's so comfy and cozy.  And it makes making the bed a snap!

4.  Fall decor.  I love the colors of fall decor and I know I'm a couple weeks early but hey the weather is suiting it, so out it came.

5.  Quirky sense of humour of my youngest daughter.  Oh how she makes me laugh at times.  I'm so thankful for this girl.

And in the midst of remembering things from the week I want to take a pause and remember 9/11 and all those affected and all that that day meant.

What are your favourite blessing from the last week?

Your road trip sounds like so much fun, every minute--getting there, being there, coming home. When we travel to Phoenix, we have our spots where we stop for gas, Starbucks, etc. Aren't we such creatures of habit?

I read your review of Invisible Ellen and thought it might be a good read. Thanks for sharing it.

Have a great weekend and enjoy laughing with your girl!

Oh my goodness, all this talk of fall has me jealous! We are still in the 100Fs barely cooling down to the 80s at night :-(

Good and sweet faves, Susanne. So nice you got to see your girl and spend some together time with her.

How nice that you got to take a road trip to see your daughter. I love hearing about her 1600 photos from her trip. Too funny. It seems like last week my duvet was too hot and not I'm thankful for that. It's turned a bit chilly here too. can't believe we're almost looking at holiday season already.
Loved your FFF today, made me miss my quirky girl too.
Have a great day and thanks for the linky.

how fun that you got to go see your oldest girl! and her vacation to Europe sounds amazing!! it is definitely not autumn weather here yet although we are starting to wish it was!! way too hot and humid for going back to school! the classroom yesterday was 91!! and no fan or AC. but thankfully the humidity is supposed to break😀. yeah for good books. Yes the Arranging Art one was just ok. The book was downright boring and depressing until about a little more than half way through. ( i saw your omment on the reveiw) How awesome, too, that you are finding your youngest to be quirky and fun...we feel the same way about OUR youngest! enjoy the weekend Susanne.

So glad you got to see your daughter! The trip sounds fun. We're like that on a trip back home, too - just want to press on and get there.

I am thankful to be able to read on trips, too - I know some friends who can't because the motion disturbs them. Travel would be so boring without being able to read. My husband prefers to do most of the driving as well.

It's not quite fall-like here yet - a handful of leaves turning, but that's all so far. I am in no hurry - I like when the seasons change slowly so I can savor it. It has been cooler the day day or two, though, and that's a plus!

Full disclosure, I quickly read through yours before posting mine, but didn't remember your #5. Obviously it made an impression, because I put something similar for mine. LOL. I love reading about your road trips! And I'm getting my fall décor out, too. My husband says it's a bit early, but I'm sneaking bits out anyway;)

Really enjoying your blog. I plan to read "invisible". I'm thankful. that God sent his son, Jesus, to save us from our sins. God is good.

That is so true about road trips and how when it's time to come home you just want to get there. Glad you had a nice weekend with daughter and got to see what she saw! Have a great weekend.

How fun to have a daughter who has a quirky sense of humour. I like to laugh but don't so a lot as I am more serious. However for the post-a-day in October sponsored by The Nester I am going to do 31 days of laughter. Maybe I will end up chuckling more as a result. That can't be bad.

Car reading is the best. I did a little (out loud reading) with my daughter when we drove back from Yosemtie last Friday. The book is "High Country Women: Pioneers of Yosemite National Park."

How fun to get the house ready for the next season. I don't do seasonal decorating except for Christmas. Maybe this is something I could experiment with esp since I am here alone. The change could be quite nice. I will let you knopw if I do. You are not too early as I think the official Fall date is next week (the 20th?).

Sounds like a good road trip to see your oldest - lots of fun. We road trip like that too. On our last trip - I read aloud to my husband and it ended up being pretty humorous - we laughed and laughed and hubby still talks about that and tells others how much fun we had, as read to him while we drove. Good memories. Have a great week!

I am looking forward to getting out the warmer quilts. I am still barely reaching for the sheet.
