Here it is, the Sunday after Christmas 2014. For shame, but we have all skipped church this morning, choosing instead to cater to our tired flesh. Three of us are still in bed sleeping and the other two of us are sitting in the living room typing on our laptops, coffee close by. It has begun to snow outside, the weather missing the postcard Christmas Eve by a few days. The gifts have been put away, well at least moved out of the living room so that we can find space on the floor and couches. It's been a wonderful Christmas holiday. The whole family was together which was a gift. I didn't realize how much I really, really missed that over the last couple of Christmas' that Son has been working as a medic on the rigs and not here. I've been savoring every second. Celebrating with extended family has also been a gift. As my parents get older and neices and nephews and my own kids grow into adulthood and into their own lives, I hang onto these moments with more tenacity knowing that one day it's all going to change.
I've been a naughty blogger, having stayed away way too much from the blog. But in my defense, I had really good excuses. First and foremost was the week before Christmas my computer caught a nasty virus that totally hijacked my browser. I couldn't access anything without being whisked away to another page I couldn't get out of. And my wonderful hubby, even though he also had tons to do, tried working on fixing it for me. Because you know, I was in total panic mode that Friday's Fave Five was going to be missed. And for his efforts in the middle of googling on his computer for a solution for my issues, he also picked up a virus. Arrrrgh!! So I just told him to work at it at his own pace. The computer world was not my priority because I was sooooooo behind on Christmas. I'd caught a horrendous cold, an actual real live virus, that totally sapped my energy. For two weeks, I went to bed exhausted and woke up tired. It was all I could do to get through the work day. So there was no Christmas baking, no Christmas shopping, basically no prepping at all. Which left the 5 or six days before Christmas to do it all. (The very same days that my browser went AWOL). If I thought I was panicked about missing Friday's Fave Five, I was super panicked about missing the whole Christmas thing. And throw in their Younger Daughter's Christmas Day birthday and well, I think you might just understand a wee bit.
So now finally I have my computer back so hopefully things will now get back to normal. Well, better than normal because looking back over this year my blogging has not been so great. Neither has my reading, as a matter of fact. I am way behind in the "norm" of the amount of books I usually read. And I miss both. So here's to the last week of 2014. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas holiday and I'm looking forward to reconnecting with you all!

YAY, praise GOd for your fixed computer!! We missed you! I too have had a nasty cold virus that has left me wiped out!! But since the cough is FINALLY on its way out, here's to hoping for better nights' sleep and a restful Xmas vacation! Hope you are much better, too!! We skipped church today too due to out of town guests needing to have breakfast and leave our home by 11:30 a.m. so.....we have been enjoying a lazy day of coffee, croissants, and good books!! Happy weekend, Susanne!
So good to know you're okay. I saw a comment here or there and that was a hint. Those nasty viruses are awful when they attack a necessary tool, bBut it sounds like you're back, the computer's back, and everyone's enjoying some together time. Thanks for the update, Susanne!
Yikes, viruses. Which are scarier the human kind or the computer kind? I'm thinking in this day and age the computer viruses might trump the physical ones. Glad you had good times away from the computer, too.
It sounds like the computer virus might have been a blessing in disguise, with all that you had going on. I'm sorry about the yucky virus YOU had though:( You are wise to savor all these times with your family, and I'm glad that you had a nice Christmas with everyone at home! Here's to a bright new year!
So glad the computers are in working order again. I appreciated your leaving a comment on my blog at some point about the virus. When there was no FFF and no posts from you for a while, I was assuming/hoping it was something like that or busyness and not some kind of family tragedy. That put my mind at ease that you all were ok - though both computer viruses and human ones are nasty to deal with.
I treasure when the kids are all here, too, knowing that in any given year that might change as they are all adults now.
Our church has morning and evening services, and we missed this morning due to a conflict with the timing of my oldest son's flight. Then this evening I was just excessively tired, so I stayed home. I felt guilty, but I don't think I would have been good for if I had gone.
Glad to have you back online!
Oh, I'm so glad you are better and the silence was 'only' because of the computer problems.
Breathe deeply and slowly and take the time to read and rest.
Happy 2015 to you!
ugh, viruses!!!!!!!! So glad you are back and doing well :)
I too fell very short of my reading goal. but life picked up a little and I found some other great things to do. I am NOT setting any extreme reading goals for 2015! I feel so defeated! ;)
I'm glad you were able to get your computer fixed!
I'm REALLY glad you were able to be together as a whole family! That is the best.
Yes, indeed! Here's to a Happy New Year!
It's good to have a blogging break every once in awhile - though a virus is definitely a fun way to get time off! I freak out when it happens to me. I'm thankful to have found a wonderful computer tech who is so reasonable on his prices!
I'm looking forward to 2015 and the encouragement and inspiration I get from joining the FFF group!
Happy new year!
I thought last Friday that you probably had still computer troubles, but being sick on top of that and just before Christmas, must have been really stressing ! I didn't enjoy Christmas so much, we had to go to Amsterdam and the Dutch don't celebrate Christmas, so no decoration at all in the windows or on the streets. Rather sad !
Forgot to wish you a happy and healthy New Year !
Me again ! No Friday's Fave Five ?
You must think that I am crazy but I thought it was Friday today ! Sorry !
