Friday's Fave Five #186

Welcome to Friday's Fave Five featuring Easter week!  How was your Easter?  Have you reflected back over your week and found some blessings to share?  If you need guidelines for posting, you can go here first and then just jump right in!  Didn't have such a great week?  I encourage you to try to look for the blessings that are not so obvious.  Sometimes once you start looking and find just one, more tend to be found.  Looking for what is good or that uplifts us helps us when the times are tough.

1.  My family together for the holiday.  This is always something I am really thankful for because I know it can change at any holiday.  It's just wonderful to hear them all chatting and laughing together.  We don't plan a whole lot when my oldest daughter comes home, mostly playing it by ear, depending on her.  She leads a very busy life and when she comes home she just likes to kick back and relax.  Which is fine by me.

2.  A four day weekend.  I always take Good Friday - Easter Monday off and it sure is wonderful having that extra long weekend.  Though one of my parents did forget about the Monday even though they'd been reminded and showed up at my door.  I'm sure the shock of seeing me in my housecoat, no make up and hair barely combed was enough to scare him into remembering for next year.  LOL.

3.  Easter Sunday Service.  I will be honest.  I haven't attended Easter Sunday service in quite some time.  Last year Hubby's mom passed away on Easter Sunday morning and for years before that I stayed home to do the cooking for about a dozen people.  But this year I just really felt I needed and wanted to change that pattern.  And I'm glad I did.  Even though it threw my cooking timing for a loop I know that will fix itself.  The service was so worth it.  Remembering and honoring the Lord with other believers for what He did giving us New Life in Him was definitely a highlight of the weekend.

4.  The sprinkling of the Starbucks.  I know spring is here and it will soon be time to prepare the flowerbed and welcome flowers when I start sprinkling the Starbucks coffee grounds onto the soil.  Here they give away used coffee grounds in all the locations and it is free and good for the soil adding nutrients.

5.  Dressing up for Easter.  Shock of all shocks, I actually put on a dress for Easter service.  I can't remember the last time I wore a dress other than a wedding a couple years back.  It was sort of fun getting all dressed up.  Definitely made me feel springy.  LOL.

Join us by doing a post and sharing your Five and then link that post to Mr. Linky so that we can come and visit.  Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.  Hopefully it's nice and springy wherever you are.

Easter was special this year, I think because of more time and intention to prepare my heart. I'm so glad you could celebrate with others in an Easter service this year.

Lol! I wore a skirt to Easter services too. First time in a long while.
Don't you love it when the kids are all home and chatting with each other? And they no longer argue :)

That was a nice Easter for you !
We have Easter Monday as an official holliday, only banks (of course) and the public services also have the Friday off !

Our Easter was small and quiet, but it was great anyway. I do love those big family dinners, though -- Thanksgiving was a great one for us.

The four day weekend was great, wasn't it? Make this week nice and short! Have a great week, Susanne!

Sounds like a wonderful Easter weekend all the way around!

Easter morning is one of my favorite services of the year. We always have a lot of special music with it as well.

I do like getting dressed up -- I wouldn't want to live that way every day, but it's nice some times.

I'm so happy that you could take that time off from your second family. I like how you said...you leave the kids lead the dance when they are home...I still do that.
I love going to church on Easter Sunday, but I made a cold potato/ham meal this year and served it a bit later. I don't want to miss out on anything. I don't know if I could fit into any of my dresses anymore.
Have a relaxing week.

Getting dressed up for Easter used to be SUCH a big deal down South where I grew up. Here in Oregon though I didn't notice very many people who entered into the season with bright, happy colors and new dresses. It's sort of amusing to me. I personally didn't wear a new dress or anything like that (I favor skirts or slacks, actually) but my kids were all in Easter clothes. It's just kind of...interesting to think about.

Glad you had such a wonderful Easter holiday!

We didn't attend church this year. I was with my Dad who had just come home from the hospital. But my sister and I dressed up in our Easter dresses for the day just because!

This is the first year I wasn't able to make Easter service because of being out of town and just getting home in time to cook. I don't like it and won't do it again. Being in service on Easter is a highlight I don't want to miss!

Having a 4 day weekend is such a joy!

I'm glad you had a nice Easter with your family, and that you made it to Easter Service. The Easter Vigil is my absolute favorite mass of the year.

LOL at your description of your Monday Morning attire. Quite a contrast to your fancy dress up on Easter. :)

My mother has the most beautiful Azaleas, and swears it is because of her coffee grounds.

You gave me a good reminder to put some coffee grounds in my house plants, I used to do that but then forgot about it.

Glad you enjoyed Easter Sunday. Nice that you had a four day weekend, we don't have any holidays in the US around Easter anymore :(
