Friday's Fave Five # 172

Welcome everyone to the first Fave Five of the New Year.  A new year of finding the blessings in our everyday, in our normal days as well as special days.  I noticed in the last few weeks there have been some new comers and I welcome you as well as my friends who have been so faithful each week or month. If you need the guidelines just pop on over here before you start and then join right in!

1.  New Year's at my sister's.  We've gone there the last I don't know how many years, it's sort of become the tradition.  This year we played a wild game of Balderdash.  And I say that tongue in cheek because it took us 3 hours to finish one round.  One of us who shall remain nameless took forever.  But it was fun because it became the running joke of the night.  Lots of teasing and laughs got us past midnight.

2.  Easing back into work.  After so many days off sometimes it's really hard to get back into the routine, both for me and for the dayhome kids.  But it was a fairly easy transition with no tears or clinging which is always a blessing.

3.  Vick's VapoRub.  What would I have done this week without this stuff?!

4.  Christmas decorations packed away.  I love Christmas decorations.  At the beginning of December, I love getting them out and putting them up.  But by New Year's I'm ready to have my house back to normal.  Everything is all packed and put away for another year.  And it feels good.

5.  Cozy throw blankets.  With all the crazy winds blowing around here I am very grateful to have some cozy warm throw blankets to bury under in the evenings.

What are your favorites for the last week?  Join us in celebrating blessings in our lives with a post of your own and then sign your post url into the Mr. Linky.  Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Ahhhh. I feel the same way with my Christmas decorations, now packed away in the attic. Welcome back to work, Susanne, from what sounds like some great time with family.

I don't know what a Balderdash game is, but it seems to be very funny. I too took all the Christmas stuff away, I couldn't see it anymore, lol !
Vick's VapoRub was already in use on my chest, lol ! My grandma had it always ready !

You are all packed away and we're just starting to enjoy those quiet moments zipping on our favorite drinks. Going back to work is always a challenge after Christmas break..It's stacked to high!

I love Balderdash and haven't played it in several years. Would like to again. Putting away the Christmas decorations is one of my faves from this past week too.

Happy New Year and God bless.

We enjoyed some games over New Year's weekend as well. Such fun!

Vick's brings back memories of childhood -- my mom used that on us all the time. How could I have forgotten about that stuff? Thankfully we've been pretty well so far this winter, but I imagine we'll have have some colds before it's over.

Believe it or not, we've used cozy throw blankets in Florida this week! (We've had our coldest temps in a year, and we don't have heat, really. But it's a great change.)

Sounds like you're easing into the new year well, Susanne. Have a great week!

Sounds like you had fun on your New Year's family party! So did we Susanne! It's been very windy around here too, but the temperatures are way up, it's crazy! I always enjoy the festivities, but I'm always glad life slips back to normal afterwards! Have a great weekend Susanne!

You should try Quelf! We just played it this past week, and IT IS HILARIOUS! I can't even begin to explain it...you'll have to look it up to see all the crazy things you do. So much fun!

I love how clean and big, well bigger anyway, my house looks once all the Christmas stuff is packed up and put away.

We'll have to check out Balderdash. I've never played.

I'm loving my favorite throw too. Such a cozy way to spend an evening reading or watching tv, all wrapped up in it's soft and warmness.

I'm glad you had a good transition with work. It went well here too, which I also was thankful for.

I see I'm not the only one who likes to get Christmas packed up by New Year's!

I've always been a big fan of throw blankets too. So cozy!

I feel about the same with the decorations. Fun to put up, ready for the norm. by January.
I also have cozy blankets all over the house, old and new. Glad your kiddos transition well after vacation.

Happy New Year

Snuggling into the cozy soft blankets is a perfect way to spend an evening especially if it's accompanied by the hot drink.

Happy New Year to you Susanne. I'm glad your little ones readjusted well. I hope my New Boy did too.

I love Vicks. I don't use medicine very much, but I love my Vapo rub! And my cozy blankets. I hope you feel better soon. At least your decorations are cleaned up. I wait until the Epiphany, so that means I have my work cut out for me this weekend. :)

thanks for FFF - Catherine

oh, no. It sounds like you or someone in your family has not felt well this past week. I hope s/he gets well soon.

I am also glad to get back to "normal" life. The holidays added just a little extra to my schedule so that it was difficult to read and comment on blogs. I am looking forward to getting back to that!

Thanks again, Susanne, for hosting this meme because it has encouraged me all of 2011 to not take my blessings for granted.

If you've been using Vick's VapoRub then chances are you (or someone) is not feeling well. Hope health is restored soon!

I've also been enjoying cozy blankets this week!
