Unmotivated...That Would Be Me

Oh dear.  I'm seriously lacking the ho-ho-ho motivation this year.  As I type, the mantle is empty, the tree sits naked for 3 days now in the living room, the window is wreathless, the cards have been sitting on my cart for a week now and there is a distinct lack of snowmen sitting around the house.

Maybe it's the odd, nicer weather we've been having.  We haven't really had a major snowfall yet this year and the temperatures have been pretty darn balmy for what we should be getting by now.  These nicer days however, do make for nicer shopping.  I mean who likes lugging packages and bags while trying to locate one's car as it's blizzarding around you. To say nothing of sweeping off your car and scraping ice off the windows.   It has been seriously windy, but that doesn't stop us Southern Albertan's from getting out there.  We just get a firmer grip on our stuff, put our heads down and charge ahead.   But just a few more things and I can say I'm officially done with the gift shopping.

Maybe it's the busy October and November I had.  It left me t.i.r.e.d.  But November has waved goodbye 7 days ago.  So I'm running out of excuses.

Time to buck up, put on the running shoes and get to it.  Christmas is coming and will wait for no one to dawdle around.  Maybe I'll watch Christmas with the Kranks tonight and remind myself what can happen if I leave it to the last minute.

So Much Empathy!!

I can not get into it this year either. I wish there was more time, I am just in no mood to decorate, bake, grocery shop, any of it. Plus, I have no idea when I'm going to have time to do any of it either.

I hope you gather some Christmas spirit soon. Me too. :)

The hohohodrums are going around this year. I've had no ump lately. The house is decorated, did it more for my son and hubby. But I am enjoying it. No shopping done yet...but we are usually last minute anyway.

I can kind of relate to this, Susanne. I think it's hard as we get older. I do know that my goal this year was to simplfy. I have succeeded in decorating but it is definitely paired down from years past. Plus the girls are older now and at 18 and almost 13 they have learned what's really important about the season! (JESUS!!). I'm tired too but i know it's cause I"m staying up too late and working longer hours in the classroom now....sigh...I don't LIKE baking cookies at 7 pm so I announced to my husband that there would be less sweets in the house this holiday as well. He was ok with it! yay!! It's funny you are writing about this today because we haven't had any snow yet either although tonite we are supposed to get 1-4 inches of slushy wet snow. We had 2 inches of a surprise snow in October around halloween time. It melted the next day thank the Lord! come on over later tonite...i'll be posting about something that might help your xmas spirit! :)

Seriously lacking in motivation here too, Susanne. I think it's probably because we won't be at home for Christmas so I have ZERO interest in decorating.

I'm using the excuse of 'I'm focusing on Advent' this year...

Dear Susanne. At least you're nearing the end of the gift shopping. BTW, I checked back with the Punjammies people and they now ship to Canada ;-) I just got two pairs for my cousins. NOW, I'm done shopping!

I've had the same problem...I've done some decorating but no baking or cards....luckily, the Princess has been wrapping gifts, except hers, so that is about finished...One thing I can say here is I don't have the energy that I did 20 years ago and I run out of steam pretty fast...I've decided to stop obsessing about what I'm not getting done...its just not worth it..

It is so good to visit with you again Susanne. I'm always behind, it seems, but I've determined to try to just slow down this Christmas season and savor the days.
We are having much colder weather than we're used to in South Texas. It makes it seem more like Christmas, but I really do prefer our warmer days :-)

I am glad I read this. My mantle is empty, too! The tree finally got decorated. Maybe we should declare this year as Living Simply and we'd look like we have it all together! ha
