Friday's Fave Five #133

Welcome to Friday and welcome to Friday's Fave Five.  Time to look back over our week and share some of those blessings that have touched our lives.  Looking with intention for blessings even when we have hard weeks helps us to keep perspective and uplifts us, giving us strength to keep on keeping on.  If our week is great, it helps to keep us thankful.  Please join us this week.   For guidelines you can go here.  And now to go on to looking for blessings and try to forget that it's April 1st.  I totally do not enjoy April Fool's Day.  So focusing my mind now:

1.  The novel "Unlocked" by Karen Kingsbury.  Review is here.  Scroll down to #7.  This was on my Spring Reading Thing  list and I was looking forward to reading it.  It didn't disappoint.  I thought it was a great read.

2.  A beautiful sunny, spring day!  It was glorious being outside with the kids and dog playing in the backyard for a few hours today.  I got a good fill of the warmth before the predicted "light" snow that is to come on Sunday.  **Edited to add:  I knew I needed to be thankful for that beautiful day  and soak in every minute I could because, believe it or not, we are now under a winter storm watch for the weekend.  Sigh.  The weatherman really needs to get the memo that it IS SPRING!

3.  Chai Tea Latte from Starbucks delivered by a sweet parent when they brought their child one morning.  I love Starbuck's Chai, nice and spicy, and I love the thought that a parent wanted to be a blessing to me.

4.  Getting back to regular walks with the dog.  Had to hold off on our longer walks for about a week after his "boy dog surgery".   Hubby and I had a good laugh.  On the vet paper it said no long walks and no jumping for about 7 days after surgery.  Tell me how you keep a rambunctious puppy from jumping on furniture and running around.  The day after the anisthetic wore off he was ripping around all over the place no matter what we did.  Anyway, I missed the long walks over the week we didn't do them and can't wait to build back up and surpass our 2 miles a day.

5.  Pasta Carbonara.  I have never had this wonderful creation before.  I made it last night for the first time.  Oh yum, is all I can say.

What have been five of your blessings this last week?  Share them in a post and link on up so that we can come and visit.

What a sweet thing for the parent to do for you. Mmmm--most any drink from Starbuck's would be yummy. Enjoy your puppy walks!

I love chai tea. I can't wait for spring weather. We had a very wet March. Hope April will be different. Enjoy spring while you can :)!

So glad you had a touch of Spring this week! I'm sure it did the kids good, too. And a unexpected gift from a parent is always a day brightener.

Have a great week ahead!

Life seems to be double the fun with a rambunctious puppy around. Glad you got to enjoy a beautiful sunny spring day. Tea and a book - how lovely!

Arghh...I messed up again. Sigh. Could you please delete my entry that says "What I want for Easter"? I hit send before I saw what the auto wording was. Sorry!

How nice that spring has arrived for you!

I was on the library hold list for Unlocked in position #18. I decided I didn't want to wait a few weeks to get it, so I picked it up at Sam's Club. I'll be up late tonight getting it read. :)

I keep hearing good things about Unlocked. I’ll have to add it to my list. Our spring days disappeared this week – maybe next? I’m ready. Puppy – they said similar with our girl dog. We couldn’t stop her from romping around. Ha. (And your Sloppy Joes recipe looks delicious!)

How lovely to get a hint of spring -- even if snow is on its heels! It's sweet of parents to be so thoughtful of you. And it's so lovely to read about how much you all are enjoying Todd. Happy weekend, Susanne!

I love anything written by Karen Kingsbury.

The Starbucks was an awesome treat. It makes me smile when people do something nice like this.

Yes it's Spring and don't worry the whole US and Canada are going through something weird. I hope the weather man gets your memo. Can he include one from WA too.

Sounds like you had a great week! My 6 year old "puppy" has finally decided he like to go for long walks with me too. So fun! Pasta and Starbucks anything makes a good day!
Glad you enjoyed you moments of sping!
I finished Lady in Waiting, loved it! Thanks for the review!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Isn't it wonderful to enjoy those walks...I'd love a Starbucks right now and I have never had Pasta Caarbonara...but I did see your Sloppy Joe recipe below and will be making that this weekend.

Oh Spring...so fickle. We have had some beautiful sunny, warm days, though - with spring in the air! I do believe winter is over, no matter how much snow we get this weekend. :)

So nice to have parents who love Starbuck's to isn't it? I am so ready for spring, we received a nice tease about 2 weeks ago then it got gray and cold and snowy again, but this weekend is supposed to be tolerable. Have a great weekend!

It's a beautiful day! Yesterday it was a gorgeous 65 degrees and we were able to take a good walk outside without a raincloud in the sky. LOVED it! Today friends are coming over to watch Tangled. Looking forward to that!

Chai tea latte! Oh yes. Yummy!

Have a great weekend!

I may change my mind and get that novel. I wasn't planning to since I kind of felt like I knew the story already since a film was based on it in another of her series.

We had a few springy days, but have had temps in the 30s again this week.

I need to get started walking...or something!

I can just imagine you with your little post-op puppy, too cute!

I love pasta carbonera and have not made it in a loooong time.

That is great that you were blessed by one of the parents...I love when that happens! (altho I do not like Starbucks....!). That Kingsbury book looks like something I'd like :) seeing as how most of the students I work with lately have autism...so scary because of the very high incidence of it, at least in our part of the state....the pasta sounds great. and guess what? we were under a winter storm watch too last nite )thursday) for today but we only had a dusting on the ground this a.m. and now it is just lightly raining....think Spring!!1

I, too, am trying to enjoy the spring weather while it lasts. We're supposed to get a storm on Monday. But tomorrow will be gorgeous!

I had to laugh at the vet's instructions for you dog. We had the same thing when our puppy got her operation about a year ago. No jumping or excitement for 7 days. 7 days?! She couldn't go five minutes.

I didn't get a chance to do my Fave 5 this week. I'll try for next week!

Have a great weekend, Susanne.

Hi Suzanne! I have a friend with two dogs and she said that keeping her dogs quiet for a week after that kind of surgery is one of the hardest things she has had to do! We have been enjoying spring here too, but we have had some cold days just to remind us of the weather we are leaving behind. It's nice to see the sunshine though! I've been really busy these last few weeks and haven't got a Friday's Fave Five post done, but I have had lots to be grateful for and I hope to be back soon!
