Friday's Fave Five #116

Hi and welcome to Friday's Fave Fives!  If you've noticed something is a little bit different, you're right.  My button is missing.  I can't access my file and hubby is not here so it will have to wait until sometime tomorrow.  Oh well, it's still Friday and we can still look for that which was a blessing in our lives without the button, right?  So on we go.  If you're new you can go here first and then please just join in with the rest of us.

1.  Graters that clear the streets of all the snow during the winter time.  We have had so much snow in the last week and the streets are quite the mess.  I'm really glad for those big ole' graters that come and clear my street of all that slippery stuff.  I wasn't too crazy about the one working down the intersecting street this morning at 4:30 a.m. with it's loud beeping back up signal.  I kept waking up thinking my alarm was going off.  But I sure am grateful (grateful, get it?   ....grater... Oh I crack my self up) for the work that they do.

2.  A cup of mint tea to wrap up the day.  I've been enjoying nice, soothing mint tea in the evenings.  So relaxing.

3.  Warm blankets to snuggle into in the evenings on the couch or reading chair.  With it being chilly this last week those blankets felt pretty darn cozy.

4.  Chili.  I made an awesome batch of chili the other night.  I'm not sure but I think the secret might have been in using a can of Hunt's "original" pasta sauce rather than a can of plain old tomato sauce.  The chili was so good.  I think I'll keep using the pasta sauce all the time.

5.  A good, calm week with our dog's health.  After the horrible scary week with his health last week, I am very thankful it has been a calm, good week for him this week.  It was an awful rollercoaster of emotions when we thought we were losing him, and good and bad moments since August,  so it's been nice to be calm this week.  Hopefully he has many good weeks, months and hopefully years of calm and happiness coming to him.

What have been your blessings of the last week?  Join us with a post and sign on to Mr. Linky.  Don't forget to visit around and share in other's blessings too.

And we have NO snow yet although the upstate part of NYS does and out towards the Great Lake/Buffalo/Rochester. But not here in Albany area....for which I'm thankful...so not ready yet for all that....
I wrote about tea and being cozy too! and guess what...i typed up my post quickly before going out with my hubby last nite and forgot to include the FFF button...I was actually hoping you had a xmas one but then never remembered to check! so my faves has no button either!! Mint tea, warm blankets, chili, and a good old doggy friend. Can't get much better than that! Sounds like a lovely winter week.

Glad to hear your dog's doing better. I have an old canine companion, too.

Happy week to you!

Grateful for graters - that made me smile :) I'm so glad your dog is ok now. Mint tea, warm blankets and chili, aren't they just perfect for the cold weather!

Mmm, I love Chili. I think everyone has some kind of different thing they put in their chili. Mine is a can of tomato soup along with the tomato sauce.

Mint tea sounds wonderful!

I can’t imagine having so much snow that we’d ever need a grater. But I can understand how useful they’d be if we did have snow! I love warm blankets too—especially my Snuggie. I bought ingredients to make chili tomorrow night. Can’t wait. Glad your dog is healthy this week. I know how traumatic it is when they die. Have a great weekend.

So happy to hear that your dog is doing better. I know how that stress can be.

I haven't made chili for a while, and I've been thinking about it, too. Maybe next week.

Have a wonderful week and, as always, thanks for hosting FFF!

I'd never heard them called graters before! We just called them snow plows. But I am glad for them, too -- and glad not to need them as often. :-)

I love throw blankets -- we have one on the backs of several couches and chairs.

I'm so glad your doggie is doing better.

Good news about your beloved dog!

All your snow news makes the thought of cozy blankets and hot soothing tea sound welcome and necessary. Have a cozier weekend :)

It's the time of year to be snuggled into those wonderful blankets, and sipping on tea or hot apple cider.
Our snow has disappeared and we're having rain. I love the snow, as long as I don't need to shovel.

good pun! Those of us who live in the land of ice and snow are grate-ful often for those men who care for our roads!

Glad your puppy is feeling better!

I'm making chili for supper tonight.

Hi Susanne,
Ours was Vegetable Soup. It was yummy but Chili is a second one we love in the winter. Have a great day!

When I was on the Outer Banks of NC on our road trip I saw some of these big graters you speak of... only they were removing the sand dunes that blew over the roads after a storm.

It was add coming home from the US the closer we got to Canada the less and less snow there was. Then in New Brunswick well we won't go there. So far Prince Edward Island doesn't have snow.

You make me want to have chili now, it sounds good.

I'm glad to hear your dog had a good week, many more.

I can't believe you've got snow already. So glad it isn't here. Chili is wonderful for those cold evenings, isn't it? I've been changing my sipping routine in the evenings while I watch a show from sodas to tea myself. When it's cold, a nice warm drink is just what a person needs.

They are actually called graders, graters are for cheese!
