Friday's Fave Five #111

Welcome to the 111th edition of Friday's Fave Five. After all this time I still look forward to this exercise of looking for the blessings in my everyday and picking 5 to share. Please join on in and don't forget to sign on to Mr. Linky.

1. Doing the kick off to Operation Christmas Child at my church. I love this ministry and I feel very privileged to be a part of it. We kicked off on Sunday with an absolutely beautiful testimony on video from one of the very first recipients of a shoebox gift from Bosnia. Please take a moment to watch the video. It absolutely powerful and a wonderful testimony of God's love. It's amazing that people have packed and given more than 78 million shoeboxes filled with gifts since they started in the 1990's. If you don't know about this very special ministry you can check it out here (for Canada) or here.

2. The humble little egg roll. I have no idea why they call them egg rolls because as far as I can tell there is definitely no egg rolled into them, but I do know I love them. Haven't had one in forever and last night's supper was a real treat with rice and stir fry broccoli. Yum.

3. A son who does his fair share of running to the grocery store for this mom. I cannot say how much I appreciate him for doing that and saving me from having to go when I'm tired after work. And when his sis can join him that's even better and I love them both for it.

4. Beautiful warm days. Yesterday was actually 22*C, which is a balmy 72*F. That is incredible for this time of year.

5. Pumpkin Spice tea. From Bigelow teas. My current favorite afternoon relax time tea.

What have your favorites been for this past week. What are the blessings, big or small, that have come to your mind as you think over the week? Please link to your specific post and not your home page so that visitors may find the post easier.

Have a great weekend!

What a coincidence (or not!), my church just kicked OCC, too :-) Looking forward to checking out the video you linked.

I love egg rolls, too -- Chinese ones, Philippino ones, Vietnamese ones...

Enjoy your beautiful weather! The clouds have cleared here and we should be seeing the sun, too.

I too have "warm" days, laying on the beach in Egypt with 87 F !

Ooh I didn't know they had a pumpkin spice tea! I will have to keep my eye out for that. I love the pumpkin spice coffee but coffee disagrees with my stomach.

Pumpkin Spice tea and coffee always sounds good to me yet whenever i drink it i don't care for it....glad you found one you enjoy!

I love the shoebox ministry! My boys always loved putting those together, even when they were little.

Pumpkin spice sounds good. I'm partial to Apple Cinnamon!

I miss having a boy to run to the store for me...! Have a great week, Susanne.

I'm with you on the warm days.

An egg roll, like in Chinese Food?
A short visit as time is of the essence this day. Take care, thanks

Watched the OCC video. Touching. That is such nice weather you have. Bangkok is threatened with flooding, but we're ok, thank God.

Pumpkin spice tea sounds yummy. It makes me want to look for it here.

How lovely to still be able to enjoy warm days where you are! Today is sunny and bright but temperaztures have dropped a lot this past week!
I love pumkin spice, I brought some from my trip to the States last year. I don't think we have that tea over here, but maybe if I put some of that spice in my regular tea, wouldn't that work? I'm glad you had a lovely week Susanne, mine was awesome too, since it was my birthday!

It's been that warm, sometimes warmer here in the southern US. Although it was a little chilly this morning at 49*F. During the day though it still gets into the 80-90's.

I can't wait until my kids get old enough to run to the store for me. But, as of right now, they are not even old enough to stay home by themselves when I need to run to the store for something.

I love the smell of pumpkin spice, but don't like the taste of anything pumpkin. Seems like everywhere around here has pumpkin something, shakes, lattes, cookies, etc.. Enjoy your tea!

Ha I am looking forward to having a son who can run to the grocery store for me......he will turn 16 in Dec. :)

The tea sounds delicious!
Oh and I love the OCC shoeboxes we have been doing them every year also, such a great ministry idea.

WE always do OCC too - I just sent that video over to the church office so we can use it in our kickoff too. Thanks Susanne!!

Love egg rolls - mmm!!

I never tried that kind of tea but it sure sounds good.

And yay for your kids!

Oh! We HAVE a church in the community that DOES those shoe boxes! Luz and I are each filling one to send! I'm so glad you shared that video... I had not seen it!

Isn't it great when our kids get old enough to start doing some errands for us? I know I love that!

We had some warm days here as well, but now its raining and that kind of makes me happy. I'm ready to curl up with a book :)

I like egg rolls -- good ones, anyway. I used to love to get some at Jack In the Box when running errands and needing to eat a little something but didn't want a bog heavy meal. Unfortunately we don't have one here.

It is nice to have kids who can drive and run errands. My two who could do that are gone -- I need to get my youngest his license!

Somehow drinking something that tastes like pumpkin doesn't appeal to me at all, but that just leaves more for you. :-)

This must be the season for OCC -- my church emphasized it last week. Such a worthy cause!

Yum, I love egg rolls ... you just reminded me that I haven't had any in a while.

Your weather sounds perfect. Too bad I can't fit a flying trip in to Canada!

I all about being thankful when our kids help out!

I look forward to when my youngest can run to the grocery store for me. I remember how neat it was when my oldest could. 72 degrees is such a perfect temperature! I love that, too. Have a great weekend.

I also appreciate Operation Christmas Child. It is amazing to think that something so little, a small box of gifts, can have such a huge impact. It certainly is a worthwhile project to be involved with.

I haven't had the pumpkin spice tea from Bigelow yet. Yesterday I was drinking their caramel vanilla. It is a yummy one too.

The OCC is great!

So glad the weather is so nice! Hope it hangs around till after I get home. (Doubt it) I'd appreciate some 22C weather these days!

Aren't kids who are willing to run errands a wonderful blessing?

I love it...the blessings big or small. Thanks for sharing and allowing us to focus on positive things at the end of a week...
Sometimes it's easier to think of negative challenges..but this always enlightens my heart.
Who knows when those first snow winds blow eh?

Operation Christmas Child is a great ministry. We just got our brochures at church this past Sunday so now we can have the fun of shopping to fill the boxes.

I can still remember how neat it was once our kids started driving to be able to "send" them to the store for things I might have forgotten. They were thrilled to be able to drive and I was thrilled not to have to drop everything and run. It was a win-win situation.

Another fun FFF. My kids are excited about doing occ. They love going out to the store to pick out the gifts. Oh, and no pumpkin spice tea for me, just pumpkin spice latte.
