Friday's Fave Five #67

Welcome to Friday's Fave Five. Please join in with us as we remember what our favorite five things from our week were. If you need details or guidelines, you can go here first, but then just jump right in!

Onto my five:

1. The number that participated in last week's Fave Five. You all were such a blessing. It took me all weekend but I made it through each and every single post!

2. This post had me laughing from beginning to end. Beck was up for quite a few Canadian Blogging awards. This is a prime example of why.

3. Chilis and stews. It was just this kind of a couple of weeks where chilis and stews tasted especially good. And best was when they are made in the crockpot. Saturday was frigidly cold and snowing with wind. Again. My youngest had an orchestra recital at the university, where you have to park quite aways from any door. I threw a chili together before we left, put it in the crockpot, and we had a delicious, hot, warm ya to your bones dinner when we came home.

4. Southern Alberta weather. One reason I love living here. Yes we get the bitter cold at times during the winter, but around here they never last too long. It's hard while we are in the midst of it but around here they say if you don't like the weather just wait a minute. For example, after a bitter cold week and a half with Monday's weather being -30*C (-22*F) by supper time it was 0*C (32*F). And today was a downright balmy 7*C (44*F). It's looking to be a lovely weekend.

5. Attending my daughter's orchestra recital mentioned above. I love going to these. They have 3 levels of orchestra, she's part of the junior orchestra, playing violin 3. Each level plays 2 or 3 selections on their own and then they all play one or two together. It's always a really enjoyable way to spend and hour and a half.

What were your favorite things from the week? If you do a post, please sign in on Mr. Linky so we can come and visit. Have a great weekend everyone!

The weather is why I love living where I do. Don't you feel like Christopher Robin? He didn't care what the weather was like as long as he could be out in it!

Hurray for the orchestra!

Hot soup is quite a relief for the cold - that I learned in that freezing country called England. I loved reading your fifth fave. Yay to a talented daughter and to you!

I love soup and stews this time of year as well, and I love when I think about it ahead of time to have it ready after an event.

They say that here, too, about waiting a minute if you don't like the weather. We've been in the 20s and 30s at night and in the mornings when I take Jesse to school, but it warms up during the day, thankfully.

Enjoyed Beck's post!

Ohhhhhhh I'm going to have to be making some soups the next few days! We are forecast for 6-12 inches of WHITE coldness tonight and through tomorrow! And I'm waaaaaaaay south of Alberta! NO FAIR!!!

Ya know... I always grumbled and groaned about having to go to the chorus and band recitals - but once I got there I really DID enjoy them! I don't MIND having a few years off though - before Luz starts whatever she chooses to get into!

Have a great weekend Susanne!

Wow--you're so awesome to visit every one of us. Thanks for sharing yourself in that way.

Glad you enjoy your daughter's music-making. That's a gift to her to have a mom who WANTS to go to her activities.

Have a great Christmas!

We've had extremes in weather here too - rain and cold. Stews and chili are perfect for today - it's -10 but with a cold wind.

I was enjoying our daughter playing music this week too. isn't it fun!

Happy weekend Suzanne - and thanks for hosting again.

I miss Christmas music programs/recitals. I'm glad you have embraced your "weather". It really makes it easier to be content :0)
I'm making stew for tonight. I love stew/chili/soup weather...
Have a great weekend Susanne.

Hmmm -- a balmy 44F??? We're having a day in the low 70s ;-) Glad you have those warming foods for the really cold days!

You got warmer than we did, I think. Of course, the weather change made my list, too.

I agree that chilis and stews (and soups) are the best kind of meals to have when it is so cold.

Have a great week and a wonderful Christmas!

I really like the weather where I live also. We're in a valley so we occasionally suffer from extremes, but it's extremely rare. We experience seasons, but nothing overly dramatic. Calm and even. Just the way I like it (with a few fun snow days thrown in here and there!).

Chilis and stews, oh my and oh yes!

BTW, we're having our Christmas party tomorrow and I'm making the gingerbread with lemon sauce recipe. This way I think I can rest assured I won't be the only one eating the whole pan of it. =)

Don't you just love crock pots. I do. I don't think I would survive where you are, that would be too cold for me.
You must be very proud of your daughter.

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Not ONE of my kids shows any musical talent at all, which means there goes my hopes of making a family band. Dang. Your week sounds lovely - as always!

Stews and soups are great this time of year. I could have posted that in my Faves also!!!!
Your daughter's recital sounds wonderful, I am sure it was beautiful! :) Good for her! And I bet that Chili hit the spot when you got home!:)

Both of my kids were in orchestra and I sure miss it now that they are grown.

Here in Texas we don't have the really cold weather but once in a blue moon. And honestly I do miss that, though I'm sure some would think me crazy. But to me that's what winter is all about, not the flip flops and t-shirt that I'm wearing today.

Soups and stews are my favorite winter meals. I need chicken soup now, I feel a cold coming on.
I am giving it away. Any takers?

It was so awesome to experience some Alberta weather earlier this week. It was so cold but the beautiful blue sky so made up for it. Gosh such a foreign concept for me.

I keep wanting to jump in and participate but I've not been up to my blogging par these past couple of weeks with so much going on.

Crockpot cooking is the best! I enjoyed your FF once again -- thanks for hosting this!
