Friday's Fave Five #61

Update Note: I added the pics of the weird squash for those of you who asked. If anyone knows what they are and if they are actually eating squash, let me know!

I can't believe this week just flew by like it did. My goodness where did it go? It's time to look back and look for those favorite five things that made your week happy, those things that were a blessing to you. If you are new, click on over here and then come back and just join in.

1. Trying a Mexican restaurant for the first time in years with hubby. There is a little authentic mexican food restaurant in my neighborhood that we finally tried last week. Oh my. Was it ever good. My mouth waters as I think of it. And there was so much food we could hardly eat it all. It came with a bowl of this wonderful tasting mexican soup and a good serving of salad. And I'm not talking about the wimpy iceberg lettuce with a few purple cabbage strands thrown in for color. This salad had lettuce, peppers, real grated parmesan cheese, olives and it was good! Then the ordered meal came. When they put the plate in front of me I had to make the executive decision to not touch the rice as I knew I couldn't eat it all. So the rice was sacrificed. Everything was so good!

2. A nice cup of hot mint tea after supper in the evenings. Now that it's cooler out I'm back in the mint tea habit. I don't know what it is about it but I really enjoy it in the evenings. It really does bring out an "Ahhhhhh" content moment.

3. An unexpected walk around the lake in the daytime with the dog. I rarely get to go to the lake for a walk in the daytime during the week because I'm working. It was really nice to get that chance this last week. The breeze was quite nippy coming off the lake but I still savored the moment. Who knows when I'll get that chance again.

4. A last trip to the Farmer's Market. Now done for the year, I was able to get in on the last day where I found a huge spaghetti squash which promptly became part of the next days dinner. Yummy. And I found the two neatest shaped squashes to put into my flower pot by the front door. Ok, I ran out this morning and took this pic for those of you who asked. I like them because they are this pastel kind of dark green and shaped weird and then to offset them I put a perfectly shaped little pumpkin. I still need something to cover the dirt. Little pinecones maybe? Did I ever mention I love fall decorating? Does anyone know what the weirdo ones are?

5. Getting the flower beds cleaned out for the winter. I so glad I was finally able to get to that job this week and to finish it. It feels great to have it done. Another "to do" thing crossed off the list.

What have your favorite moments been this week? Please sign Mr. Linky if you've done a post so that we may come and visit you.

You had such a wonderful week. Farmer's market has a rustic charm to my ear. I love reading about the walk by the lake. I enjoy trying out new restaurants in my area as well. Crossing off things on the to-do list is a fave of mine too.

Sounds like a great week to me - starting with the Mexican food! I always thought I disliked Mexican until an authentic Mexican restaurant moved in -- then I found out how much I LOVE it! YUM!

Do take pictures of your squash today! I want to see!

A nice week, indeed! I love mint tea, but I've also been expanding my horizons. Madagascar Vanilla Pomegranate is excellent, too. Makes me feel all cozy!

I like the accomplishments this week, Susanne -- good food, exercise, comforting tea, and even garden clean up! Hope your back is still doing good.

My word - that sounds delicious even early this morning! I'd be perfectly happy to eat Mexican food most every meal.

I keep hearing about spaghetti squash, but I don't know how to choose one or what to do with it once I get it home. Suppose I should Google it and learn - we've decided to eat better and any vegetable is a good thing.

We love Mexican food and often will little out of the way places. But we have learned to share a meal because the food is so heavy (even though we are big eaters!).

So sad the farmers markets are ending for you. Out here in Cali, they continue most of the year, weather permitting.

what a lovely week you had.
That Mexican restaurant sounds great.
I think that mint tea would go well with my mint slice cookies.

Happy Friday and safe weekend.

Oh I love getting those "to do" things checked off the list. If I'd thought of it, I'd have listed that we finally burned one of our burn piles last weekend! (1 of 3) It's a good feeling to get outside tasks done before winter really sets in!

I heart my Farmers Market! All that fresh local produce! The Mexican restaurant sounds yummy. You've had a good week, Susanne!

It is great to be able to cross something off the 'to do' list. In fact, it is one of my favorite things to do.

The Mexican restaurant sounds great. Is it a chain or a one of a kind?

Hope you are finding peace here at the end of the week. Praying for you.

Great five!
I love Mexican food. I usually make my own version at home though, since we rarely go out to eat. But mine isn't as good as from a restaurant. We have a favorite Mexican place that we like to go to when we go on vacation, but that's rare!
I posted about a walk too!

Mexican food, YUM!

I'm so glad you had time to take the walk around the lake in daylight and also enjoy the cup of tea!

Also getting in the trip to the farmer's market and getting some clean up done outside. Sounds like a pretty good week!

Happy Friday!

I have no idea what your weirdo squash is, but it looks neat in your arrangement.

A walk around the lake sounds nice. A good way to clear your thoughts and just be.

Mexican food. My favorite:p

Mexican food just can't be beat. What a nice treat. And I'm with you...forget the rice and go for the really good stuff.

Since moving to Texas, we have become real fans of Mexican food. The first thing we do when we get back home after a trip is head for the Alamo Cafe and a "dose" of Mexican food.
Your list makes me feel all warm and cozy - sort of settling in for the winter.
I have no clue about the squash.

Thanks for hosting. It is such a fun meme. I love your list. But I don't like a hamburger overcooked!! We enjoyed our dinner at Red Robin and split a sundae to celebrate my birthday. Good times!

Blessings.

I missed fff this week as my computer crashed. but $129 later and all is well.

Good for you gett the garen done - I picked the last of my parsley today. I still have some purple flowers blooming in a planter - they're so hardy - they've survived snow and sleet and are still blooming away. I don't have the heart to pull them out :)
