Makes Me Wanna Shout

I love me a deal. Even more I love a great deal. And best of all, I love when I come across a great deal by total "co-incidence".

But I'll start at the beginning. Every year we get the kids an ornament. It's one of the gifts in their stockings. I always try to choose something that would suit them for that year. For example, one year I got Kay a crystal snowman with chennile arms and legs that was holding a basketball. No, it wasn't because she's flexible like chenille pipe cleaners, but she'd been playing basketball for about 6 years, so this was perfect. And last year I found her a bagpipe Christmas ornament. She loves the bagpipes. Last year, I found Tamara a polar bear mommy and baby ornament. She was really interested in polar bears last year. And Jeremy I found a Crusader ornament complete with sword and sheild. He was really into playing a computer game called Age of Empires.

So anyway this year, I've been struggling to find an ornament that suits any of them. All the stores ornaments are really themed this year. There is even a "peacock" theme, if you can believe it. What on earth? I mean I love peacocks and their colors but all over my Christmas tree? I just can't wrap my mind around that. So all that to say, it's been really hard to find quirky personality type ornaments for the kids.

Now to the HO, HO, HO part. Monday night I tried to get hubby to go with me to a few stores to look for ornaments. Having had a particularly rough day at work, he agreed to one but they were closed so I managed to talk him into another one. While they had lots of gorgeous and fun ornaments there was nothing that struck me for my kids. I tried for one more store but he was just too exhausted.

So last night I ran to this store that he refused to go to the other day, and what do you know, but they have all their Christmas decorating stuff on for 60% off. And I found ornaments for all my kids. Was I thrilled or what! I won't tell you what they were 'cause some of them read here and NO, TIA, I'M NOT TELLING! YOU'LL HAVE TO WAIT!

And Mama got herself an ornament, too. I've been looking for a partridge bird ornament for years. Guess what I found? At 60% off.

And not only did I find ornaments but I found the exact stocking hangers that I was looking for. Ones that I had in my mind, but had never ever seen in actual fact before. At 60% off. The only trouble with those was they came in a box of four and we're a family of five so I had to buy two boxes. But it still came to cheaper than one box at regular price. And the exact spruce smelling pot pourri that I wanted to make the living room smell like a real tree that I wanted. You guessed it, at 60% off.

By the time I left the store I was almost giddy with the rush of a great deal, wanting to shout "Ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas" to the passing cars in the parking lot. It's better than drugs, man! LOL. So thank ya Hubby, for not wanting to go the other night. I'd have been paying through the nose had it not been for you.

I just placed an online order from Old Navy and saved $20.00 with my coupon credits PLUS 20% off the regular price....I was thrilled!!

BTW: your fave five button disappeared from my sidebar and there was a message saying it was unavailable! I have no idea what happened...all the other ones are still there.

Congrats on finding just the right ornaments. It's actually fun to shop when things work out that way.

That is a great tradition. I may have to implement that one next year if you don't mind.

I've been up in arms about what to do because I started getting a family ornament years ago, but what to do when they each leave the nest? You have made a wise choice, and I just may have to copy it if you don't mind. I love that that way they would already have a special ornament collection built up to take with them one day, and it would help them remember each year.

Oh - I do love a good sale too! And to find just what you were looking forward. That's my kind of shopping. I really don't like that endless wandering up and down aisles waiting for inspiration to strike (which it seldom does).
Great job!
