I Can Hear the Hammer's Now

My friend, Shalee, after seeing the pic from yesterday's post, asked me if we had started building an ark yet. Let me tell you the thought did cross my mind on Tuesday. Praise God, we didn't start to float away. In fact, our basement had very little water. A tiny amount and it came in in the storage and laundry room and ran straight to the drain.

Other's, however, did not fair quite so well. As in the poor driver of that minivan in yesterday's picture. The unsuspecting driver, a 71 year old senior, was just driving in the rain going into the underpass when the man hole cover blew off and water spewed out and rose so fast he couldn't get out of his stalled vehicle fast enough. The door wouldn't open from the pressure of the water and passersby had to rescue him out of his van. Can you imagine? It's enough to give a poor senior heart failure.

I've always loved the story of Noah's Ark and totally believe it happened but in my finite mind it was always hard to just imagine how water could cover the earth. Well, let me tell you, after watching that downpour and everything that happened within a few hours around here, all of a sudden I can totally imagine it. If it rained at that rate for forty days and nights? Oh yeah, my mind can totally get that now.

And with the sunshine pouring down today I'm reminded where God said to himself that He would never again curse the ground and destroy all living creatures with a global flood. (Genesis 8:21). And He made with Noah a wonderful covenant that is also a promise for us.

"And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me
and you and every living creature with you, a convenant for all generations to
come:
I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the
covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth
and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me
and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the
waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the reainbow appears
inthe clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasing convenant between God
and all living creatures of every kind on the earth"

So in the fun and interest in everything flood and Noah and Arkish, I give you a list of 11 lessons to learn from old Noah. The author is unknown but he's got a point!

1: Don't miss the boat
2: Remember that we are all in the same boat
3: Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark
4: Stay fit. When you're 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big
5: Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done
6: Build your future on high ground
7: For the sake of safety, travel in pairs
8: Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs
9: When you're stressed, float a while
10: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic, by professionals
11. No matter the storm, have faith … there's always a rainbow waiting

Now I think I'll go and watch this fun movie.
