Book Review ~ Almost Like a Song

This book is one that I had won in Katrina's Spring Reading Thing. I set it aside as one of the books I wanted to take on vacation with me. It just sounded like a vacation-y type of book. And I was not disappointed.

Almost Like a Song is the story of Hannah, who as a young girl has a whirlwind romance in the beautiful setting of Yosemite National Park, which turns into a spur of the moment wedding. Then heartache comes when she awakens the next morning to find her new husband has disappeared. Now raising her young son from that union as a single parent, Hannah is trying to make a life for them far from family. Singing in a dinner lounge, her dream is to one day own the place and make it her own, but that dream is shattered when the ailing owner sells it to his godson, who Hannah is devasted to find is none other than her disappearing husband, who seemingly has moved right on with his life.

Delia has painted a lovely story of faith, hope and love in her debut story. The story is engaging as you are drawn into Hannah's life as she struggles to come to terms with what life has dealt her and still keep her faith in God strong. I was caught up in her story emotionally and think Delia has put out a wonderful, inspirational contemporary love story for her first endeavor into writing. If you're looking for a nice, easy reading love story to finish off the summer with, this might be just the one.

You do some great reviews Susanne, I enjoy them! It sounds good.
I read the one I won at Katrina's on part of my trip too and it was a fun one, Lost in NashVegas!

Well, I'd like to enjoy some nice, easy reading, but I only have minutes a day now to read. AND, I keep being handed serious, gut-wrenching books. I'm glad you're up to your ol' fiction readin' tricks.
