Monday Mish Mash

It's Monday and it's raining. Again. But I am thankful it is not snowing. Praise God! I'll take that. At least I got the rest of the flowers planted out and now they're being watered with no effort of my part.

Pretty quiet weekend around here. The usual Saturday housecleaning and laundry. Speaking of laundry, I wanted to say to Laura, that really I have finished my 30 Day Oranizational Challenge, oh, about a week and a half ago, but I have not been able to post the pics due to the pile of laundry that is breeding and multiplying faster than bunny rabbits in my laundry room. If I took a pic now, you wouldn't see all my hard work on the shelves for the laundry hanging on the line and folded on the dryer and waiting on the floor and in the baskets. So I'll post that as soon as I get out from under the mountain. Where it all comes from I'll never figure out.

This weekend was the Global Day of Prayer. Did anyone else's community participate? If you didn't, I would highly recommend looking into organizing one for next year if organization is your gift. If not, you can always put a bug in someone's ear, like a pastor or someone with the gift of organization. It is an awesome, powerful blessing. Yesterday was Pentecost, so it is very fitting that as the disciples were all gathered in one place praying, the day of Pentecost would be the day that churches and Christians from all over the world would be gathered in places in their communities praying and seeking God. There was 10 days of personal prayer leading up to the Pentecost Day gathering where we joined with Christians from the whole city in one place on Sunday. There was a prayer guide to use for your personal prayer and on the gathering day, different Christian leaders from the community lead in prayer and all gathered prayed with them. Saturday night our church hosted a night of worship where there was worship lead for 5 1/2 hours straight. You could come and go as you wanted. It was a time for you to come and meet with God personally in worship. The chairs were separated to give a feeling of comfortableness and being on your own with God. There was room made for flagging and dance, a book you could write in if you felt an encouraging word for the city from the Lord and a wall with paper to paint for the artists as they were moved. It was a beautiful time of worship, surrendering, and using your giftings from the Lord in the artistic area. The prescence of the Lord was powerful and you could sense it as soon as you walked into the santuary. There was no open mike and no talking, nothing but pure worship for hours onto the King. Amazing!

Sunday night we went to Pirates of the Caribbean 3. After #2, I went sort of leary. I didn't enjoy the second one at all. Loved the first one but the second was lacking & confusing to me. I found it way too loud and way too fast, jumping back and forth from frame to frame so fast my eyes were sore trying to keep up. There have been quite a few here and there mention in blogland that they were waiting to hear opinions before they took their children. Hence the reason, I'm even mentioning it. Pirates 3 was very much a pirate story. It wraps up all the loose ends from the first and second. If you like a priate movie you will like this. The moviemaking and special effects are phenomenal. I was amazed at what they can do on film and spent a lot of wondering "Wow, how would they have done that?". That said, my kids were all teenagers with the youngest being 12 1/2. The movie is loud in the action/fight sequences. And yes, there are fight scenes. It is a pirate movie. Some fight scenes last a long time. The climax fight scene I'm sure was at least 20 minutes. And they are intense. While not a lot of blood is shown there are many stabbings and lots of guns going off. They are lightened with the fun, goofy type of humor that was evident with the first Pirates but sorely lacking in the second. If you or your children are at all sensitive to violence you might want to wait for the rental to fast forward some of it. The story is again quite complicated and you have to pay attention. Even for kids who don't get the story line there is enough action that they won't care. But if you care, you better make a trip to the bathroom before the movie starts or you might miss something. It is a 3 hour movie. It is a story that is definitely not a Christian viewpoint concerning death and the hereafter, but you don't expect that from a pirate movie. If you do you will be disappointed and probably upset when you leave the theatre. But if you go knowing it is a story, a pirate tale, and that it will have fighting and will deal with treachery, disception, gods and goddess of the sea, and take it as such, you will enjoy it. It also has a nice thread of true love and honor, forgiveness and friendship. All in all, even though there are parts of the story I would have to watch again to understand fully, it was a fun ride for me and my teens.

To end a way too long post, heard in the car driving home from Pirates. A woman was standing on road, sorta looking across and up. We saw her a block away. Everyone in car was saying "what's that crazy lady doing? She's gonna get hit!" As we came closer, we can see she's taking a picture of something. Comments all around of "How silly that she would be standing in the road to take a picture. She better watch it or she's going to get hit. What is she doing? What is she thinking?" Then oldest daughter pipes up from the back seat, "Maybe she has a blog". After I totally laughed out loud, I all of a sudden thought, "Hey, what're you saying?" Hmmm. I wonder if I should be offended. I'll have to ponder that one! ;vD

I would definitely take the rain...we've got wildfires galore here and (choke-choke!) smoke has been moving in and out of our area.

I missed out on the Global Day of Prayer...didn't even make it to church on Sunday...but the prayer event that you went to sounds like it was awesome.

And I cannot wait to see your clean laundry room. Looking forward to those pix...

This isn't a too long post. If you want to see one of those, come on over to my place. LOL

You know, I love Johnny Depp but I just don't like this pirate series. I'm in the minority, though. My whole family is as crazy about Pirates of the Carribean as they are Shrek. Nope, not a fan of that either although the new ogre triplets do look kinda cute.

I have no idea how all of you get your menu planned for a week ahead of time. I usually have a general idea but for the most part I just wing it so I admire all of you who are so organized.

Snow? Good grief. We're BAKING here today. Honestly, I had to come inside and cool off after being on the back patio for about 30 minutes. Rain sounds wonderful to me!

Today's laundry day here, too. It's not so bad around here any more but when the girls were still home, it seriously never ever ended. I went through three washers raising those two girls.

Hope you're having a lovely day other than that! And your organized prayer vigil sounds wonderful. I love the idea of the artists' wall.

Happy Monday!!
These are my favorite types of posts.
First up, I can't wait to see your pictures girl, don't hold me in suspense a moment longer!!!
Second thank you, thank you for your review of Pirates. Loved the first one and I couldn't agree more about the second one....uggg. In fact my daughter and I got up in the theatre and left about half way through. It was way too scary for the two of us. If the third is more like the first then it should be okay for us. We don't have a movie theatre where we live (we'd have to drive to the next town to see it) so I'm thinking we may wait for the video.

Your menu looks delicisious!

I am enjoying your blog so much and loved your information about Global Day of Prayer. It sounds like it was amazing! It's been raining here in Okinawa today. The heat and humidity has kicked in though so when it rains, it is an escape from the tropical sun which is so nice. Have a wonderful week!

Loved the newsy post too! We saw Pirates this weekend, didn't like the 2nd one either but should have watched it again before this one.
Gasp! Eden's comment about a secret ending, we didn't see it! Rats.
Woman on road taking pics, LOVED that comment by your daughter! I was actually thinking the same thing as I read...really, don't we all photograph everything now!

I went to a Global Day of Prayer event on Sunday night - it was awesome!!

The online video is great too - you can watch it in Youtube. It really helped me grasp how huge this movement is - it's such a privilege to join with Christians all over the world for prayer.
