Menu Plan Monday

Monday: Hamburgers on grill, marinated tomatoes, cukes, zuchinni

Tuesday: Broiled chicken breasts, potatoe salad, 4 bean salad

Wednesday: Hamburger soup (from last weeks menu that didn't happen), cheese toast

Thursday: Garlic sausages, baked potatoes, mixed veggies

Friday: Date with BH (beloved hubby)

Saturday: Scrounge Day

This week I talked with my oldest daughter and thought we'd try to have her have a specific night where she comes home in plenty of time to help cook supper so she can learn a little bit about cooking. She's a lot like me at her age, no interest whatsoever in the cooking department, but I'm hoping to whet her appetite a bit in showing her it can be simple and fun. So this week it is Wednesday and hamburger soup which is easy, quick and a favorite. Hopefully this will spark the interest and keep this going. Well, at least till basketball season starts, anyway.

UPDATE: For those of you who would like the hamburger soup recipe it is at last week's Menu Monday here.

I have one daughter who dislikes cooking and one who loves it. My dislikes-cooking daughter has a few easy casseroles that she whips up occasionally and we all like them. My other daughter won't get out of my kitchen. I'm serious! She browses through cookbooks and magazines for new recipes and is always treating us to something new. I had to ask her to put the brakes on making so many cookies though because I was having trouble just saying "no"!

Sounds like a good week! My youngest son likes to help out in the kitchen.

Happy Monday!

Your menu all sounds delicious! I hope you and your daughter have a good time cooking together. I wish my mom had taught me some things, but I didn't learn a thing until I got married, hehe!

We have "Date Night" on Friday also, I look forward to it all week!

Have a great Monday, and a terrific week :)

I'd like that hamburger soup recipe, too, please. :-)

It's a great idea to get your daughter in the kitchen even if you start with your easiest and quickest recipes. I never really did that with my girls and now that one's married and the other's engaged, we're all regretting it. A lot of their favorite family recipes aren't recipes at all. I can only teach them to make them by "showing" them so we all three find outselves trying to catch up now.

Wish I'd let them help me more when they were younger.

Yummy week! My oldest daughter would do all of the cooking, but seeing as she is 7, I would eat a lot of mustard sandwiches.

When my kids were much younger, I would try to have them pick out a meal and learn how to prepare it once a week.
You've got a yummy menu for this week. Reading everyone else's menu makes me tempted to change mine.

Great ideas. I have to confess, I like my private little domain in the kitchen, but now that my children are getting old enough to help I need to start encouraging them to join me there!

Great idea about teaching your daughter. I so need to be more disciplined about teaching my boys. I usually just don't think about it, and I should. My oldest actually enjoys it when given a chance.
