Another Book Meme

Ahhh, another book meme. Lauren has tagged me for one that takes a bit of a different turn than the last one. Instead of asking what I would write, it asks different questions of what I've read. This meme made me think back a bit on my reading history. I've come a long way, babe, you might say. From the fairly innocent (back then) harlequin romances and mystery novels in my teen years to the much more trashy so called love stories of my late teens before I was saved, to my period in life where for about 2 years after I was saved where all I read was my bible or bible study books, to now where I love to read and always have at least 3 books on the go. One fiction and one or two "learning" kind of books. And not to even the mention this wonderful medium of blogs I now read on a daily basis. Now, though, it is very rare for me to read a non-Christian writer unless it is an autobiography, not counting the multitude of children's books I read to kids. So all that to say, it was interesting to see where the Lord has brought me even in my reading. So here goes:

1. One book that changed your life: The obvious answer to that would be the Bible. Without it I would be a very different person indeed! But if I had to not name that one I would have to say "Ribbon of Years" by Robin Lee Hatcher & "This Present Darkness" by Frank Perretti.

2. One book that you've read more than once: I read lot's of books more than once depending on if I feel I need to get something more out of them. Never back to back, though. So other than the Bible & Ribbon of Years, I'll say "A Man on the Moon" by Andrew Chaikin. The whole getting a man on the moon era fascinates me.

3. One book I'd want on a dessert island: Only one? Okay other than the bible, I'd want a book on how to build a good fire with no matches and how to make smoke signals.

4. One book that made you laugh: I'm drawing a blank but I know as soon as I hit publish something will come to me.

5. One book that made you cry: Other than the Bible and Ribbon of Years, I'll say "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers and "September 11 - A testimony" by Reuters, "A Time to Dance" by Karen Kingsbury, "Dana's Valley" by Janet Oke. I definitely see that I tend to read a tear jerker compared to a comedy.

6. One book you wish you had written: "How to be slim & trim without diet & exercise - no fooling"

7. One book you wish had never been written: "On the Origin of Species" by Charles Darwin

8. One book you are currently reading: "Hidden in Time" by Michael Phillips

9. One book I've been meaning to read: "When Forgiveness Doesn't Make Sense" by Robert Jeffress

Now to tag someone: You're it Heather, MommaB, Jenny fro CA. And anyone else who wants to try it. Just let me know you've done it. And if you already have and I just haven't remembered just ignore this tag. :)

Hey susanne,

I'm it!! (my first tag!) I have this meme up at my site aleady, I will post a new introduction and a link if I can manage it.
I Like your book mentions, many I haven't heard of, though the authors are familiar to me. I remember enjoying This Present Darkness when it came out. I used to work in a Christian bookstore in my highschool and college days. Unlimited book borrowing- it was great. I tend to be careful of non-christian books too, I am usually disappointed by the smut or bad morals. The exception is classics, I can usually pick one up for a good read.
Thanks for letting me play,
Jenny in Ca

Oh my goodness, the book (besides the Bible) you'd want on an island cracked me up. I'd be sitting there freezing, starving, unrescued, reading War and Peace or something!

I did this meme. Shannon at Rocks added a few questions. This is one of my all-time favorite memes. I love love finding out what people read.

So many people have recommended Redeeming Love, I almost bought it Saturday. My sister Bev steered me toward the Mark of the Lion trilogy she wrote so I bought A Voice in the Wind. But next week I'm going back, with allowance in hand, and buying the other two Lion books AND Redeeming Love.

Didn't you love doing this book meme? I did. As much as I read, it was fun to talk about it.

OK. I wrote my book I mean novel I mean the meme you tagged me for. Sigh....

jennifer: thanks for relinking to it!

lauren: I love to read!

Barb: War and Peace on a deserted island I must say I never thought of!

mommab: you tagged me for it? So sorry I missed it! Must have been when I was on holidays and it totally went by me. Glad I got to do it now!

melanie: great answers and I'm glad you're feeling better!

barb: Mark of the Lion Series is phenomenal. It's on my list for this year to reread.

beck: Janette Oke is Canadian and from my province! Never met her though! This was written with her daughter and is not a historical novel like her others.
