Front Porch Days ~ Dream Vacation
Today starts off a new weekly feature over at Jules place, Everyday Mommy. It's a wonderfu little thing where we all gather on her porch and talk about a specific topic that she puts out there. To kick off the first one our question today is:
If money and time were no object, what would your ultimate dream vacation be?
Oh, did this ever set me to dreaming. Would I choose a getaway with no kids or with kids; far far away or oh so close; adventurous or pretty mellow. I am so torn. If you have ever read my site you'll know when I'm thrown too many choices my brain goes into a tizzy.
Jules idea sounds wonderful. To be able to see all the different parks and beautiful scenery that your own continent offers just makes me itch to hit the road. Then there is the thought that all those wonderful Sandals commercials gives us. Oh, to just sit there doing nothing, being waited on hand and foot, sinking my toes in white sand and looking out over crystal clear blue-green water throwing my pager into the ocean gives me shivers. Ahhhhh. That sounds like heaven. Or some kind of trip to the mountains always makes me feel like I can reach out and touch God. And the adventure vacations sound like a hoot, but I would probably not be able to move for a year if I took off on one of those!
But I think, my dream vacation would be a European vacation with my family. See my relatives are from Hungary and I've only met them once in my whole life. My grandparents are now passed away, but I would love to meet everyone as an adult. And then to tour Europe with all the romanticism and beautiful architecture, museums, resteraunts, can't forget the resteraunts. This would have to all be done with a tour guide, maybe a fella named Jozef, or a young lady named Erzabet, of course, so we could see the best of the best and get to be part of the culture in each country, not just go to the tourist spots. I'd love to be able to be with a certain family in each country and really get to experience their family life. And it would have to be done at a leisurely pace, so that we weren't rushed and exhausted and could spend as much time at each country as we wanted.
Of course this whole little thing would have to include great hotels, my old bones would not be able to do the camping or hostel thing.
So if any of you know where we can get the jobs to support this humungous dream vacation, or if any of you so so feel led to send us off, well you can e-mail me.
Come join us on Jule's front porch and don't forget to leave your link so we can read all about your dream vacation!

When in college I got the opportunity to spend 3 months in Poland which is my grandmother's motherland. It was awesome to connect with the past in sch a wonderful way and I do long to return there someday.
That does sound nice! I've never been to Europe. My husband got to go when he was in the service and I had to stay home in our little apartment...so would love to go to Venice, especially!
But everyone who knows me knows that I was blessed to finally go to Maui for a week with my husband for our 10th last year...and we get to take our kids this fall! It sure is pretty dreamy there!
I'm with you - hostel is a little scary, but my dear friend did just that and loved it. Dreaming about it almost makes it feel right there. I'll have to remember that when I'm scrubbing the kitchen floor later today - scrubbing in Tuscany....
I went to Sandals in Jamaica for my honeymoon. I loved it and would go back in a heartbeat.
For me, I would go to Italy and to Ireland. Those are some of my dream places to behold. I of course would want to go and stay for at least a couple of months in each place to really see the way of life. And unlike all the fancy hotels, I would choose a family to stay with and to truly learn their culture.
I'm picturing my sister scrubbing the floor of her hostel in Tuscany. Not a pretty sight at all.
And yes, when you're in the mountains (I like call them MY mountains since I live where I can see them out my windows) you DO feel like you can touch God.
But your dream vacation sounds wonderful. I can't even imagine going to Europe. I've always always wanted to go to England and Scotland though.
Maybe when I get home from the Outer Banks I can start a new dream.
I like this meme. May do this one later.
Your vacation sounds like mine..European tour would be right up my alley!
Susanne, your trip sounds wonderful. It would be great to meet relatives in a different country. I enjoyed your post today so much. Thanks for your visit today as well.
