Friday's Fave Five #904

It's Friday!!  Thank you for joining me once again in being thankful for the blessings in our week.  Seeing blessing in each and every day is a learning process.  Our natural bent is to look for big, obvious things that grab our emotions and attention but developing a life of gratitude to God goes beyond that and searches for His gifts in the quieter, more mundane days and even in the most difficult of times when it takes intention and purpose.  If you are new, welcome to the jouney.  If you have been part of FFF through the years, I'm so thankful you've joined in once again.

~ help and connection ~  Sunday I went to church early to put together some Operation Christmas Child boxes and have a small display up for people coming to the church on election day.  Our church is a voting location when elections, in this week's case a referendum, are held and voter's have always taken some boxex to fill.  One of the church admins volunteered to come and help me and it turned into a wonderful time of sharing and chatting.  I've known this lady for years but it's been one of the few times we've really just visited for a length of time where we could get to know each other better.  Love when God knits hearts together over a shared purpose.

~ spontaneous lunch out with friends ~ we enjoyed the blessing of friends spontaneouly asking us to meet them for lunch.  The conversation was lively and fun and the food delicious.  And bonus:  there were no dishes to clean.

~ stunning fall weather ~  after the crazy wind on Saturday where gusts peaked at 100 km/hr (60 mph), the rest of the week has been stunning.  Warm and sunny, with the leaves turning color we've spent as much time otside as we can!

~ relaxed Sunday afternoon ~ when I was growing up, Sunday's used to truly be a day of rest in every sense of the word.  There were no store's open except your little corner grocery store.  You went to church, had a nice dinner at home, maybe had friends over for awhile.  We've lost a lot of that in our modern culture.  Everything is open for business as usual.   Sunday's seem to be so rushed.  This last Sunday we pushed the pause button on all that and made it a day of intentional rest and it was wonderful.  I didn't run around cleaning or grocery shopping.  Lunch was an easy crockpot meal with little amount of dishes.  We read, watched a show or two, went for a walk.  It was wonderful.

~ praying friends ~ I have had a physical annoyance that lately has turned into a concern.  I'm so thankful for a group of supportive and praying friends.

What have been your favorite blessings this week?

I so agree with your first paragraph and your graphic that there are so many "everyday" blessings that are so easy to overlook unless we make it a practice to notice and thank God for them.

It was so nice to have not only the help but also the good conversation while setting up the OCC boxes at church. Glad you had a fun lunch out with friends and some beautiful fall weather.

We try to make our Sunday afternoons and evenings like that, too--not so much about rules to do or not do, but general resting and not doing any work that doesn't have to be done that day. I look forward to that so much. I hope the physical concern will turn out to be not serious and hope you can get some good counsel about it.

I could not do life without my praying friends. I'm glad you have that support, too! There's nothing like doing life with our sisters in Christ.

I love going out to lunch with friends! or dinner. or breakfast. You get the point :)

YAY for beautiful October days. We are in an awesome stretch of weather for the last month. We are so thankful for the mild temps, the warm sun, the brisk mornings, the colors all around! I'm so glad I live in the Northeast where Autumn is truly magical!

A true Sabbath is special. That was me yesterday morning. I even wrote a devotional post about it yesterday afternoon when I got home.

I hope you have another restful Sat or Sun leaning into God.

I hope the physical concern doesn't turn out to be serious and you can move past it quickly. Good to have friends to be able to turn to when things are difficult. Your Sunday sounds lovely and yes I too remember when the shops were closed and it was a day of rest and family time. Have a good weekend Susanne and thanks for posting this link each week.

I remember those quiet Sunday afternoons, too. My dil and I were talking about reserved time for reading and relaxing and how important it is in our crazy busy lives.
I'm glad you had all those opportunities to spend time with friends and have good conversations.
Have a good (and restful) weekend!

It would be nice to go back to the days when stores were closed on Sundays. Back to the days when families would have Sunday dinners. I hope all goes well with your health issue!

Praying as I type for your concern. Sundays growing up I have a vivid memory of our dear Pop falling asleep on his recliner after church and lunch. Of course he had to wake up to drive us all back to church for Sunday evening!
