Happy first day of May and welcome to Friday's Fave Five. It's been a busy week so it's especially needful for me to take an intentional pause on all that busyness and take note of the blessings God has brought my way this week. Won't you join with me and keep on developing our hearts of gratitude and thankfulness by sharing five of your favorite blessings this week?
~ OCC conference ~ this past Saturday I got to attend my first Connect Volunteers conference for Operation Christmas Child. I attended online with my regional manager and other Connect volunteers from Alberta, Yukon and Northwest Territories. It was a time to reconnect with other Connect leaders, meet the new team members, celebrate what God did last year and learn what new things are coming. We ended with a great time of prayer together. What a great way to spend a very blizzardy Saturday.
~ day trip to Calgary ~ we were actually going to spend the weekend in Calgary so I could join in the conference in person at the Samaritan's Purse headquarters but the weather put a kabosh on those plans. But we still really wanted to try and make a day trip at least because our oldest was there visiting her siblings. It didn't look like the weather was going to cooperate for Sunday either with the weather channel changing their predictions hourly. But mid-morning there started to be a little break in the clouds here and there and the predictions started to level out so we took a chance. We ended up having a lovely, though short visit. Did a little shopping and then went out for dinner before we had a nice drive home. Thankful we were gifted the day to see our kids.
~ chocolate chai ice cream ~ one of my favorites from the little local ice cream shoppe near my house. I had bought a pint in December when they bring back favorites each day for 23 days. I finally opened it up and enjoyed a scoop or two this week. Enjoyed every bite as who knows when and if it will come around again.
~ gorgeous sunshine and warm weather ~ after the cold, wet weekend it was so nice to get beautiful, warm sunshine the last few days. We've been outside soaking it up, listening to the spring birds singing their song and working off our pent up energy. Thankful for warm spring days.
~ Hubby's computer knowledge ~ I'm very thankful for Hubby's computer knowledge as yesterday I picked up a virus. Ugh. Computer stuff stresses me right out. But he knew enough to be able to try a few things and thank God, the scans he knew to run and the files he knew to get rid of did the trick. I so do not know what I'm doing when it comes to those things. But all is well now.
What were your favorite blessings this week?

Great that you got to visit your kids even if only for a short time. Our weather definitely picked up this week too - lots of sunshine. I hate it when something goes wrong on the computer, glad you have a hubby who can sort yours - mine would be useless lol. Have a good weekend Susanne - hope the weather is better than last time.
Oh I'm so glad your hubby figured out the source of the virus and got rid of it. Mine, being a software engineer, has my Macbook with some kind of program that will shut out viruses...meaning if i click on some link that's iffy, a box pops up stating to NOT click...virus detected or something like that. Our daughter's computer once had a virus and it was a nightmare but thankfully she saves things on her hard drive way more than I do. One time I clicked on someone's blog and it had the warning!! So I never did see the blog hahah
You had me at Blizzardy Saturday! But I'm glad you did get to go to Calgary and see your kiddoes.
The conference with OCC sounds amazing. What a wonderful ministry!
I'd love to try Chocolate Chai ice cream but I've never seen it around here. sounds delish!
happy weekend!
I'm glad the OCC conference had online access and you could participate. And especially glad you were able to see your kids, even though it was brief. Our weather has turned a little cool, but not uncomfortably so. I forgot to mention on my FFF that we got some much needed rain, and it was a nice, gentle rain without storms. One of my sons is what he calls our computer whisperer. :) It's so nice to have someone in the family who can deal with things like that.
That chocolate chai ice cream sounds so good—those are exactly the kind of little moments to hold on to. And the spring weather too, I’m so grateful for that as well, here in The Netherlands.
I’m still thinking about my five blessings this week, but a few come to mind. We had beautiful, clear blue skies here, even though there were wildfires in parts of the Netherlands. Thankfully, no homes were affected... only natural areas. Still, for such a small country, having several fires at once felt quite intense. I’m grateful the wind was blowing the other way, so we didn’t have the smoke here, even while my heart goes out to those closer to it.
I’m also really looking forward to starting a new book by Lynn Austin—it was just recently translated here, so that feels like a little gift.
And then there are all those small, quiet moments that don’t always have words, but still feel like blessings.
Glad you could make that short trip. The weather has really improved. Oye! It is nice to have someone who understands computer issues! Happy May to you!
I hate computer trouble. My son can usually solve mine. We have had a lot of rain but tomorrow looks clear so that great. Have another great week.
Time spent with my kids is the best even when it's short. I'm glad that your husband was able to figure your computer stuff out. Chocolate chia ice cream sounds delicious.
I'm glad you had that time in Calgary to visit with your kids. That's the best.
Warmer weather is a blessing too. We are back to rain and cold but maybe next week things will warm up again. I hope yours stays warm.
The OCC meeting sounds like a wonderful time and opportunity. You work so hard to help OCC and it is a blessing to children all over the world.
Have a good week!
Hi Susanne, that ice-cream sounds good. Good that your husband knows computers! I have not gotten any viruses that I know of. Blogger is acting funny today. I will be helping of OCC when we come back from Israel. Have a great weekend!
