Welcome to Friday's Fave Five. It has been a crazy busy weekend and week so I am especially glad to be taking this intentional time to stop and refocus and take note of what were blessings in my week. Please join in with us sharing five of our favorites.
~ OCC kickoff Sunday ~ a little later than usual this year but we finally had our kick off Sunday at church. The announcement went well, I think, and now the fun begins filling up the shoebox gifts with special items. It's always a favorite for me as I love supporting this project bringing joy and Jesus to kids around the world.
~ supportive ladies group ~ as a Connect Leader volunteer with OCC I get the opportunity to apply for spots at the processing center before the general public does so this year I took a step of faith and asked for 12 spots on a Saturday. I was approved. My family will take up some of those spots but I put it out to my ladies study group and already 4 of them have committed to come. I'm so excited to be able to introduce them to another step in the shoebox journey.
~ surprise lunch ~ my thoughtful hubby surprised me with a sushi lunch yesterday. There is a little place in town that does a lovely tray for a reasonable price. It's delicious, fresh made and the owner is a lovely lady who goes the extra mile. A quiet sushi lunch in the kitchen with Hubby with the dayhome kids in the next room having their afternoon rest is a real blessing.
~ fresh local honey ~ we ordered a fresh batch of local honey from our favorite honey farm this week. There is nothing like a local honey.
~ evening tea ~ with the nights cooling off a hot cup of tea in the evenings is making the comeback. This week I've been enjoying a pineapple pear infusion tea. So relaxing and warming while the wind has been howling outside.
What have been your favorite blessings in the last week?

I love fresh local honey. I normally buy a huge jar from the local farmer's market and it is so delicious! I love when it crystalizes. It's like candy!
The OCC sounds a great project to be involved in. Glad you've found some supporters. Hard to imagine getting a quiet lunch within a daycare setting but I guess if they all nap/rest at the same time it works lol. Have a good weekend Susanne.
I love this list of blessings! Last year I also was a Connect person at church (we are a collection site for other churches in our region) and I really enjoyed talking to people about OCC. This year I'm involved in other things but I def filled a box and brought it over this past weekend. I LOVE this ministry!
YAY for yummy quiet lunches with hubby and for soothing hot herbal teas. My new fave this month (I just started having a cup in the evenings while reading) is Maple Ginger I found in a local food store.
Fresh, raw, local honey is my fave. I have some from a Vermont town about 35 min from us....yes, that's local to us...it's THE best honey I've ever had. I don't use it alot but sometimes I add a drizzle to my oatmeal or hot tea.
Happy Weekend!
I got my OCC box and am looking forward to filling it up this week or next! How fun to be able to participate in the next phase, and to include family and friends. I love when my husbands suggests or brings home a meal.
Our honey is from a town about 30 mins away too. We don't use a lot either but Hubby does bake scones with it and I love it in some teas and it's wonderful to ease coughs.
Amen to that entitled gif! That tea looks interesting with those flavors. Yippee for a surprise lunch. Have a joyful weekend!
That's a real nice project you do for the African kids. !! I love Sushis too and I think it was Rick's last special meal.
Fresh local honey sounds great. We bought some local "Huckleberry" Idaho honey when we were up there last month. Yes, it is time, once again for OCC. It's great that you are involved with your church and can help with this worthy project. So glad you had a nice week with many simple but great blessings! Have a wonderful weekend! See you again soon!
Hi Susanne, my granddaughter and I turned in our boxes last week. Our church is a collection site. They have 2 groups of 35 going to the collection center. I am not able to participate. I buy local honey too and it taste so good! That tea sounds really good! Have a great week!
I always love becoming minimalist's quotes.
Local honey-- yes! It's the best.
Good news that so many people are volunteering to help with OCC. I know it is a ministry that is dear to you.
I hope you have wonderful weather this week!
I met a gal who shared that she's paring down the things she collects during the year for OCC and "only" doing 50 boxes. I wondered how many she did before!
That's super that you're getting volunteers together. Those folks will be blessed for sure.
I hear there's a lot of benefit from local honey. With your favorite teas, you should be set for keeping well this season :-)
