Friday's Fave Five #861

Well, this Friday just seemed to blow right in, literally.  It is so windy outside right now.  But if I let the weather rule my contentment I would be in great trouble, indeed, as wind is a way of life around here especially in spring and fall.  We just gotta go with the flow.  See what I did there?  LOL.  Anyway, gratitude for the blessings that God brings into our lives is what brings contentment.  The more we focus on those things to be grateful for rather than those things which upset or bring us down, the more fulfilled and serene we will feel.  So let's get to our favorite five blessings this week.

~ helping hands ~ this week was the week to put out all the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes at church.  I shot out a group text to my ladies bible study that I would be at the church a half hour early to put the boxes together and would appreciate anyone willing and able to help. About a half dozen ladies showed up and as other people from other study groups were filtering in they stopped and lent a hand also.  We got it all done by the time the studies started.  So appreciative and thankful for willing hearts and hands that just jump in and help.

~ heart to hearts ~  one of the ladies helping was the friend I went to Costa Rica with when we went on an OCC distribution in 2019.  We haven't had a chance to really sit and talk in a very long time.  We ended up sitting and talking, encouraging one another with God's grace.  We prayed for each other and over the boxes.  I'm so thankful for reconnection and hearts knit together.

~ outside time ~ there has been lots of outside time this week as the weather has been pretty awesome for October.  There has been some windy evenings and overnights but at our outside time with the dayhome kids it has been incredible.  We've had lots of sunshine and running and playgrounds and playing in the leaves, everything little bodies need to burn that massive amount of energy they all seem to have.  And it's been wonderful to sit out in the warmth of the sun.

~ more clean up ~ with the weather holding up I've been able to get more yard cleanup done.  I pulled and prepped everything in the front and I'm almost done the back.  While the kids are playing I can get a few things cleaned up here and there.  Hopefully I'll get it all done before we're hit with the bad weather.  Getting things knocked off the to do list is always a blessing as I'm a huge procrastinator by nature.

~ pumpkin spice caramels ~  came across these when I ran into the drugstore for some items.  And they are good!  I don't eat a lot of candy but a couple of these once in awhile are a nice fall treat.

What were your favorite blessings this week?

How wonderful to have a great church group of ladies. I love Werther's candies. They remind me of my nana and papa who are long since gone now. My daughter loves them as well. I haven't seen the pumpkin spice ones yet.

Your quote pic reminds me of a trail I hiked earlier this week with my hiking group!

YAY for helping hands and heart to heart talks. I love that you prayed over the boxes. I was on the committee last year for volunteers to help sort/pack into the big truck and we also prayed over the boxes. Our church doesn't have the boxes yet...we usually get them the week before Veterans day so i'm expecting another weekend we will be able to pick them up and begin to fill. Hobby Lobby has a huge promotion kiosk about OCC in our local store...i was just there the other day and noticed what a good job they did.

I hope you have an awesome weather weekend....our temps are beginning to not quite reach 60 so I will need some layers in the mountains tomorrow when I lead another hike. These hiking days are coming to an end very soon.

HAPPY WEEKEND

It's good to get that clean-up taken care of before it snows! I need to get my act together. Heart to hearts are good. Happy weekend to you!

It's so nice to have willing helping hands for a big task. That was neat to be with that friend while working to fellowship together. I'm so glad the weather has been good for outdoor play for the kids and for yard cleanup.
