Friday's Fave Five #855

Hi everyone and welcome to Friday's Fave Five.  In what has been a shocking and sad week with the public murder of a public figure, a family man with a wife and two little girls.   I have to admit it hit me hard.  I don't know him, have never been to an event of his. While I don't necessarily agree with absolutely everything little thing he might have said, I did like his strong stance on family values and honoring God and his heart for the youth, freedom of speech and debate of ideas, willingness to talk with anyone and everyone, his passion of having people thinking critically about why they think the way they do rather than just accepting the idea of the moment.   But what I do know is he was a fellow believer, a member of the family of God, a brother in Christ and therefore I grieve for his horrific passing.  I hurt for his precious family left behind.  All because someone didn't agree with his viewpoints.  What is democracy if we can't have freedom of speech about our differing viewpoints?  It's so easy for me to get caught in the endless scrolling that can be a part of a monumental event such as this.  Therefore it is especially important for me to have Friday's Fave Five to refocus my mind and heart on what good blessings have touched my personal life this week.

~ beautiful early fall days ~ this week has brought some absolutely gorgeous weather into my neck of the woods.  Cool evenings and mornings with warm, even hot days.  But the hot is a different kind of hot than August.  It just feels different in the fall.  We've had plenty of outside time soaking in the Vitamin D.

~ massages ~ After not going for a massage since c*vid, I have started going once again to see if it helps with the arm issues I have been helping.  I'm thankful for the lady I am going to.  She is doing a lot of extra work and research trying to figure out what it could be and what nerves and muscles to pinpoint in a massage session.  Though right now it is painful at times as she hits trigger points I am really hoping this is going to help improve the symptoms I am experiencing.

~ quick appointment ~ I'm also very thankful for an appointment at a neurophysiology lab that was set only less than two months from the time of referral.  With healthcare the way it is in my province right now, these specialist appointments can take months and months so I am very grateful to have gotten one so quickly.  I wish I could say the same for my MRI.  That is a year away!  But I've got myself on a cancellation list so hopefully that will come sooner.

~ fresh garden produce ~ I don't have a garden so I'm always so grateful when someone with a garden shares from their efforts.  My sister has a couple of container gardens and share some delicious tomatoes, celery, green onions and parsley with me.

~ thoughtful hubby ~ whenever hubby does a c*stco run (asterisk so I don't get people googling that store all landing on here), he brings me a little something he thinks I would like.  His last little treat was B.C. cherries which he knows I love.  Thankful that he thinks of me.

Going into this next week, I am so grateful that in spite of the evil that tries to gain the upper hand that God is still God, that He has a plan, that He is good and merciful and can bring good from every situation.   I pray you experience God's grace this week.  Hug your people and tell them you love them.  We are never guaranteed tomorrow.

What are you thankful for this week?

This killing and all the others are so awful! I hope you get your MRI soon. I have Kaiser and got mine less than two weeks after the doctor ordered it. Nice when we can get fresh veggies. My neighbor gives me some of hers. I love cherries! Have a nice weekend!

Amen to all you said in your first and last paragraphs. We've had a respite from the heat and cool mornings--lovely after a sweltering summer. That's great that the massage therapist is going the extra mile trying to find what would help. That's awful that the MRI is a year away. I hope they can get you in earlier. We don't have a garden, either, so it's nice when someone gives us their extras. That's sweet that your husband brings you something special from the store.

I'm pretty much like you Susanne when it comes to Charlie Kirk. We have two colleges in our area (Siena College, catholic in nature and the more secular U Albany) which have Turning Point chapters on their campuses. That's really all I knew of him and also that he definitely knew Jesus as Savior based on his own speeches. I am happy he is in heaven and very grieved for his young family. But like you said God is still God!! this was NO surprise to our Father. The states are a MESS right now with the gun violence and the total disregard for someone's beliefs, thoughts, opinions. I refused to scroll on any news source the last two days nor have I scrolled on FB. I refuse. The news i watch is the first 20 minutes of The Today Show and only because Savannah is a fellow sister in Christ. I'm praying that like the Boston Marathon killers, this whacko will be caught with in a few days.

I love your list of blessings. Getting into the appointments is a true blessing for sure and the weather here in NY has been picture perfect for September (although we do need rain!).
I hope you have a relaxing weekend enjoying coffee, books, and time in the Word.

I have found some of the news reporting from the States of this event by the main news outlets absolutely disgusting, fraught with gaslighting and false narrative utterly lacking empathy for his wife and children left behind. And the celebrating online that some people are doing is sickening. Makes me sad to see what society in general has become in the last years.

Yup which is exactly why i won't watch any news except Today Show (cause Savannah is born again and Craig Nelson has a clue) nor will I scroll on FB or Instagram. I posted some good articles about the lack of respect for others' beliefs and my hiking pics and that's all i have energy for. I perosnally haven't seen the celebrating of his death but that's probably because i've been off line other than posting hiking and blogging. hahah

I don't think there's a single other person, politician, or theologist that I agree with every little thing. We're individuals with our own experiences and influences. It is hard to see so much hate flung around and so little compassion for another human being. I'm thankful for this little corner of thankfulness. We're not ignoring the world news; we are focusing here. John 16:33

So I'm glad you got some seasonal rain, that massage work you need so much, and getting that specialist appointment (!)

I just couldn't bring myself to make any comments on my blog about news this week. It has been hard and horrible.
The changing leaves on the trees are beautiful! Fall weather is the best.
I love that your hubby thinks of you and brings you gifts from C**co.
Have a good week!

It was a tough week. We just listened to Charlie's wife speak today and it was so full of light and a great testimony to God's comfort to her. It really hit us hard, too. So thankful that He was a believer.

Hi Susanne. Yes, it was a very tough week. I am glad that you found things to be grateful for. We definitely need Jesus in our society now. I hope you have a good weekend. See you again soon.
