Friday's Fave Five #831

Welcome to Friday's Fave Five where we pause to be thankful to God for the blessings He gives.  Please join us as we share five of our favorites from the past week.

~ weekend relax time ~ this weekend I actually found quite a bit of relax time for a change.  There was lots of time to just have a cup of actual HOT coffee and sit with a good book.  This isn't always the case so I was really grateful.  And we all know coffee always tastes better in a cute mug.

~ birthday treats for a friend ~ Saturday I treated my good friend to a dessert place of her choice for her birthday.  We spent a lovely couple of hours catching up over delicious sweets: tiramisu cheesecake for me and cookie ice cream concoction for her.  I'm very grateful for her friendship and it was fun to celebrate her.

~ surprise hello ~ last night my son, who is an advance care paramedic in the big city, had a patient transfer to our city and after it was done, he popped in without advance warning to say hi as we live close to the hospital.  He gave his mother heart palpitations though as he put on a flash of the yellow lights (not the emergency red lights), and all I saw through the half drawn blind was yellow flashing.  As I got up to see what was happening on the street I heard a quick whoop of a siren.  I was thinking "what on earth is going on?" as I headed to the front windows.  When I looked through the window there was an ambulance sitting on our driveway.  My head immediately panicked thinking something happened to our neighbors and they were using our driveway for access.  So I ran to the kitchen to peek out the side window to see if they were indeed headed over there when I heard the lock on the front door opening.  My brain still did not clue in, and my heart and brain were racing wondering how on earth the ambulance service got the combo to my front door.  When I peeked out the window to the front step of course, I didn't see my son but another paramedic standing there and my poor brain was just not cluing in.  LOL.  Then in walks my son with a smirk.  What a guy.  Typical of his quirky sense of humor enjoying making his Mother's heart race.  After a quick intro to his partner and a hug he was back on his way to the big city.  In spite of the rise in heart rate, I am so blessed to have kids who still like come home and check in on their parents.

~ helpful Hubby ~ from kitchen cleanup help after supper to all the fix it jobs that crop up around the house to grocery runs, I'm so thankful for the blessing of help he is to me everyday.

~ cozy cover ~ found a steal of a deal on a really nice duvet cover.  I've needed a new one for a while but was biding my time until I found just the right one. Love when I can be patient enough to find the deal on something I need.  Now sleep time is super cozy and comfy again.

What were your favorite blessings from the week?

I would have been scared too if I had a flashing light in my yard. I changed my bedspread to spring last week as the weather warmed up. Now we will be cool for the next 10 days. Good things I have an extra blanket. Have a nice weekend!

I almost spit out my walnuts and blueberries as I scooped up oatmeal and read your faves hahahah Well at least if you HAD had a heart attack you had 2 good paramedics there! Your son sounds like a blast!!

LOVE that you had coffee and book time....and yes cute mugs!!
Yay for hubbies who step up...mine is the same and I think I might take him for granted sometimes.

How fun to treat your friend to a yummy dessert. Dave would highly approve (and want!!) your choice. :)

Happy Weekend Susanne!

That is such a cute mug! And I am seeing that book all over the internet. It must be a good one. Yay for a relaxing weekend with lots of reading.

How fun to treat a friend for birthday dessert.

I can imagine the heart-racing and concern seeing an ambulance in the driveway. I know what you mean about being blessed with kids who want to come home.

My husband is much the same--a blessing indeed. It's great to wait for something you want and need and then find just the right thing at a good price.

Hi Susanne. I love your faves this week. It's so great that you got a surprise visit from your son, even though it gave you a bit of a scare! Your son sounds like a good guy. That book you are reading looks good and the mug is cute. Glad you got time over the weekend to enjoy both! Wonderful, helpful husbands are the best! What would we do with out them! Have a great weekend. See you again soon!

Oh goodness. I'm sure it was lovely to see your son but arriving like that could have caused you to need the paramedics lol. Glad you had time to relax at the weekend but found time to meet up with your friend. My hubby's a good one too although he does need a little prompting at times lol. Have a good weekend Susanne.

I loved your story about your son coming to surprise you. What a fun way to prank your mom.
Coffee and a book is a great way to relax. And it always helps if you have a cute mug. And dessert with a friend sounds so sweet.
Helpful Hubbies are a true blessing! Mine does 99% of the cooking around here.
Have a good weekend!

Wow, an abundance of relax time? HOW did you do that?

Heart pumping just imagining those flashing lights on your driveway (bet your neighbors were, too!).

So sweet of your husband to take part in the housekeeping. Enjoy your new duvet cover and hot chocolates or coffee in cute mugs :-)
