Friday's Fave Five #743

Hi everyone!  Welcome to this week's edition of Friday's Fave Five!  This is the place we gather weekly to develop a focus that looks for our blessings whether things are going great in our lives or whether we are passing through a difficult time.  Developing this habit in the good times helps us in the challenging times to not forget to look and be thankful for those things that bless us.  When we develop the habit of gratitude we change our hearts, we learn to slow down and notice blessings even when we are discouraged, disappointed, provoked or just trying to make it through the day.  Please join in with us weekly as we humble our hearts in gratitude for the blessings from the week.

~ haircut ~  I was actually a couple of weeks behind schedule for my regular trim due to first my stylist going on holidays and then me.  So I was so glad to get in and get it done!  Double blessings was my stylist has moved her business back into the city (instead of in the next town) and literally a couple minutes by car from my house so I am really thankful for that.

~ reading time ~ with it being hot all week we have been outside a lot with the dayhome kids engaging in lots of various forms of water play.  We get out right after snack in the morning and stay out until lunch time before it gets too hot.  While the kids are playing all things water, I get to enjoy the adirondack chair and a some good reading time.

~ more garden gifts ~ this week were blessed with zucchini, both green and yellow, and some snow peas.  So many good things coming our way that I'm very thankful for.

~ course approved ~ I was approved for completing that  course for work I mentioned last month that has funding attached to it.  Now that it has been acknowledged that I completed the course I will get paid for taking it.

~ sparkling water ~ my go to drink all summer, ice cold.  My new favorite flavor is orange cream soda and pineapple coconut.  So refreshing on these hot days and no sugar or sweeteners, no additives, yet gives me the fizz that I like.

Simple things this week that I am thankful for.  What were some of your blessings that you are grateful for?

Nothing better than a haircut. I hope to get one this weekend. I enjoy reading in the evening. I can't drink sparkling anything because of Osteoporosis. I love Max Lucado! I heard him speak at a conference I went to along with Michael W. Smith. I would like to read that Beth Moore book on your list on the right. Enjoy your weekend!

I'm a little behind getting my hair cut, too. It always feels so good to get it trimmed.

What fun to play in water on a summer morning.

It's so nice to have friends share from their gardens. That's great that your course work was approved and you should be getting compensation soon.

Oh I LOVE Sparkling water with LOTS of ice and slices of lemon or lime. My current fave is by the company Aha and NO sugars....none. Thank God. Just fizz and flavor from the fruit. I'm loving the Pineapple-Passion fruit one and the blueberry pomegranate .SO refreshing. What brand do you buy?

YAY for water play and reading outdoors time.

YAY for a new cut (I just did that yesterday and was 2 weeks over due for same reasons).

Yummy...fresh veggies...I also included those in my faves!

Have a fantastic weekend and congrats on the course completion and getting paid for it!!

Hi Susanne. I love that quote at the very end of this post. Wow, that is so true. So glad that you had a nice week. I'm glad that you got that course approved and will get paid for it. Believe me, I completely understand taking courses like that for work. The classes can be interesting, and the payment is nice, but overall, they aren't much fun. It's good that you got some reading time in when the children were enjoying some outside time. A new haircut always feels good. It sounds like your garden is doing quite well. I hope you have a good weekend. See you again soon!

I love this idea of humbling heart in gratitude!!:) I really need to join your (link-up) group sometime soon! Hooray for haircuts! And for zucchini. I wish I had a garden but I do enjoy the farmer's market and all the fresh produce this time of year! Especially zucchini:)

Water play is fun for littles and a great way to keep cool. Happy for you that you will be able to take that course and get paid for it, too. I had my hair appointment this week, too, and it is always nice to get it done. Closer is better, too. Hope you are staying cool!

I love that last comment-- we should never take for granted our many blessings!

Oh, all that yummy garden food! We had fried zucchini at our friends' home, straight from their garden. It was so so good! I hope you have a long harvest of goodness.

These days it is good you are out early to let the daycare kids play--afternoons are definitely hot right now. And you get to read, too. Win-win.

Have a good restful weekend!

Boy, you make me want to find the sparkling water flavors mentioned!

Congrats on your stylist and you reconnecting after your mutual vacations at a location more convenient to you. Wow.

Water play and reading... hope those two don't get mixed up ;-)
