Friday's Fave Five #708

Welcome to Friday's Fave Five.   A place to practice training our hearts and minds to see the good blessings God brings into our lives.  I know in the United States of America minds are more set towards being thankful as they celebrate Thanksgiving Day next week.  But really intentionally noting our blessings in our ordinary days should extend beyond one month or one special day.  It should be a lifelong practice, a habit honed and practiced on a daily basis.  Please join in with us as we intentionally develop this in our lives and on Fridays share five of our favorite blessings from the past week.

~ gorgeous Sunday walk ~ though it's been colder than normal and we had a blast of wintery weather and snow Sunday was a gorgeous day so we bundled up and took a walk in our favorite park.  It was sunny, not a speck of wind, the air was crisp and the water like smooth glass.  What a blessing to have a lovely area to get outdoors into God's creation and breathe fresh air.  Does wonders for the mind and soul!

~ Operation Christmas Child Collection Sunday ~ Sunday was the collection day of celebration for our shoeboxes packed with love to go to children all over the world.  Sent off with love and prayer, 63 boxes will make their way to a different country and be put into the hands of  children in need or facing hardship.

~ lovely smelling shampoo and conditioner ~ tried a new brand this last time and I'm loving the smell of it.

~ encouraging conversation ~ Sunday at church a lady joined in my conversation with another lady.  As she was talking I knew God had sent her into my path.  I'd only met her once before but the words she was saying and the story she was sharing just in natural conversation were so uplifting and God honoring and exactly what I needed right in that moment.  I knew it was a not a coincidence but a Godincidence!

~ eye cream used as lip balm ~ with the cold weather and the heater running making the air dryer my lips get so dry.  Eye cream to the rescue!  It sure has helped.  Whatever works!

What are your favorite blessings this week?

From late spring weather you dropped into snow !! Unbelievable we still habe rather warm temperatures (good for the heating) I don't remember when I last saw snow here, it must be at least 2 years ago but it's never much and it melts quickly.

Sounds like a perfect early winter day for a walk in the park you love! the photos are stunning!!although secretly i am SO thankful here in eastern NY we don't have that amount yet. (although the central and western parts of the state are supposed to get big time this weekend).

LOVE shopping for OCC and I just finished my box this week. We are sending them off as a church collection center on Monday the 21st.

OOH i love a good shampoo scent :)

I've never heard of using eye cream as lip balm but i sure do love my Naked Bee honey lip balm. I use it throughout the year.

HAPPY WEEKEND!

Hi Susanne. I love the pictures of your snowy walk at the park. The pictures of all those OCC boxes made me smile. Ours are ready to go and will be delivered to a participating church this afternoon after school Glad you found encouragement in a conversation at church. It's always nice to have really good smelling hair products. I hope you have a good weekend. See you again soon!

I enjoyed your faves for this week. I agree that we should make a habit of noting all the blessings God bestows on us all year long and not just one day a year. I've been truly blessed simply by joining in here and making myself search for all the blessings I've been given. It's especially good on those weeks when everything seems to go south!

I love to walk in the snow. When it's windy and bitterly cold, it's not as pleasant but I love the hushed quiet of a snowy landscape. When I was growing up in upstate NY, I couldn't wait to make fresh tracks in our yard after a snow. Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

I love how FFF helps me keep a heart filled with gratitude:) Your quotes at the end of the posts are always spot on.

Love the snow pictures. I've been lazy about getting outside to walk, but oddly enough a snowy day can get me moving. And the conversation with the lady at church. Such an 'awakening' when it comes from seemingly nowhere. I've heard them referred to as "God-winks."

OCC seems to sneak up on me each year. I need to make a practice to shop throughout the year! A friend gets a group together each year to volunteer at the operations center, and -- again -- need to get it on my calendar ahead of time. I always think of you!

That top photo looks so cold, but still beautiful. I love doing OCC, too. How wonderful to receive just what you needed to hear during a seemingly random conversation. I love when God does that.

My lips get dry, too. But I don't have eye cream. Now I am wondering if I should look into that! I use Vaseline Intensive Therapy lip balm.

You know, I often use the snow as yet another reason to hunker down inside. Thanks for the reminder to lace up my boots and get out there! Have a cozy weekend!

I don't believe in coincidence...everything is planned by God. I am so glad you had that conversation.
Love your snow walk photos. Walking in snow is beautiful (unless there is ice underneath!)
Hmmm, I may try your eye cream idea as my lips need some extra moisture.
Enjoy your weekend!

Beautiful views -- both the snowy paths against that gorgeous blue skies as well as the rows of OCC boxes!

Those God-arranged conversations always seem to have a special sparkle about them. Sometimes you can sense it's happening as you did. What a wonderful encouragement!
