Welcome to the first FFF of February. The days of January seem to have slipped by so fast, gone in the blink of an eye. It's so good to take these pauses in our week and note the blessings God sends our way or else they'd just slip right by. Please join in with us if you haven't already! This last week has been a tough one for me. I had a sciatica flare up hit me full force on the weekend leaving me with 24/7 pain, moving very slowly and functioning on not much sleep. I'm glad I have this place that takes me out of a negative spiral and causes me to intentionally look for good things. Which are there, I just need to move aside the hard stuff in order to notice.
~ Vietnamese take out ~ Friday evening hubby got us Vietnamese noodle dishes for take out. We haven't had it a long time and I enjoyed every single bite. Thankful we are able to grab takeout especially when I am not up to cooking
~ helpful hubby ~ Dave has been so helpful this whole week while I've had this flare up. He's picked up a bunch of chores without me asking and has been full of grace when my pain and lack of sleep has caused me to be short tempered with him. I am so thankful for him.
~ far infrared heating pad ~ my husband got me one of these years ago as a gift and it has been worth every single dollar he paid for it. It is so much better than a regular heating pad and I have put it to good use this week. I don't fully understand how it all works but here is a article that explains it pretty easy layman's terms. It says in the article that it must be prescribed by a doctor but we never did that. We just ordered it. And I'm sure glad we did. So between icing and this heat pad it has brought some relief.
~ Pear juice ~ found this in the food section of a drugstore in town, if you're in Canada it's London Drugs. I love pears and I don't normally drink any kind of juice but it sounded delicious. And it is. It's a nice treat once in a while. Can't wait to try their other flavors now.
~ weekends ~ I am so glad it is the weekend. It's going to be one of lots of rest for me, with some short walks stretching and possibly some good naps to make up for lost sleep this week.
What are you grateful for this week? What blessings have you taken note of in your everyday?

Hi Susanne. So sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. Thank goodness for you kind, helpful hubby. Sounds like he has take good care of you this past week. I hope you have a good restful weekend and feel much better very soon.
Susanne I've been praying for you to heal from this latest sciatica attack. it's NO fun.....trust me...i know...that was me about a year ago. UGH. Did any of the stretches I sent work for you? Also I forgot to mention the Yoga one called Cat/Camel. you can google it to see how it goes. It really helps relieve the pain especially if combined with an ice pack treatment afterwards.
Glad you found some good juice! We LOVE pear juice (my children hated apple juice when little but loved pear) but haven't found a good one in a long time.
YAY for husbands who pick up the slack and can deal with our short tempers when we are aching. A true treasure.
And YAY for good take out. I've only had Vietnamese food once (in boston) but I do love Thai.....maybe its similar??
Have a relaxing weekend!! praying for you to heal up.
I'm so sorry about the sciatica pain! I had that once after being in the hospital flat on my back for too long. It's the kind of pain that's hard to get relief from. Hope it's gone or going away and you can get some rest this weekend.
I enjoyed takeout a couple of nights when my husband was traveling this week.
It's so helpful when our husbands pitch in without being asked (or even if asked), especially when we're in pain. It's doubly nice when they graciously deal with us when we're not at our best.
I had not heard of infrared pads. I'll mention them to my husband--he's still having pain from his sprained ankle from early November.
Ha! I'd been holding out as long as I could with take out but last night I gave in. And it was Vietnamese noodles!
I'm glad you could get help during this wave of sciatica. Hope you get the rest you need and get rid of sciatica!
Oh my. I am so sorry you are hurting. (as I sit in my chair with heating pad on my lower back, I can empathize) What a blessing your hubby is to you. I hope you heal quickly.
If you love Vietnamese food, check the recipes that nikkipolani posts.
Rest up this weekend!
I sure hope you are feeling better. I've not experienced sciatica, but understand it is so very painful. It's a blessing to have a hubby like yours.
I've never developed a taste for Vietnamese -- I think it's called pho? Probably, one of just a few things we don't have in common!
Have a restful weekend.
Sorry you've been in so much pain but glad you've got a hubby who helps. Hope you soon start to feel better and have a good weekend.
Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your pain. Glad you have that heating pad. I do hope by now you are a lot better. Rest easy...
