Friday's Fave Five #621

Hi everyone.  Welcome once again to Friday's Fave Five.  It has been a crazy week here in most of Canada.  We are being slammed with a "polar vortex" and it is absolutely frigid.  So many areas in my province have hit record cold.  It is crazy, dangerous cold.  As I type it's -31*C with windchill taking it to -40*C (-24*F with windchill to -40*F).  So I think a lot of my favorites this week have to do with staying warm.

~ Williams Sonoma Mulling Spices and Five Apple Cider ~   my son had gotten this as a gift for us Christmas before last and I was saving it for Easter 2020 when the whole family would be together.  Then covid hit and ruined all our plans and I told myself Thanksgiving and that came and went and I changed it to Christmas and that came and went without being able to celebrate together.  So with this frigid week I threw caution to the wind and cracked it open all for myself.  And I have been enjoying every sweet, spicy, hot drop.  It's delicious and perfect to warm me up in this cold.

~ a place in the sun ~  it hasn't been sunny everyday but when it has I've been sitting in this spot when it hits the patio doors in the afternoon.  The sun coming through the glass door radiates a nice warmth for a short bit.  Long enough to read a chapter or two.

~ furry or sherpa knit throws ~  every evening covering up on the couch to watch a show or read a book calls for a nice warm blanket these days.  It's nice to have a variety of these soft throws to choose from

~ feather duvet ~ I like a cool room to sleep in but I love the warmth of our fluffy feather duvet.  Warmth without a ton of weight.  So grateful for it this week!

~ warm vehicles~  I haven't gone out much this week but when I have I was extra thankful for features in my car such as a really good heater, heated seats and heated steering wheel.   I know it's totally first world privileges but I am no less grateful.

What are the blessings in your life this week that you are thankful for?

I like to sleep the same way. I like the room cool but a nice warm blanket. I tend to stick my legs out when I wake up too hot...which is fairly often these days.

Great list of cozy warm faves!!

You're the only person i know with a heated steering wheel!! Nice!! I could use that this morning...it's only 5 degrees F here!!!

Love buying gifts at william Sonoma.....we have a store here in Albany....but i so do not like hot apple cider. I like it cold but usually just 1-2 glasses in October. Glad you could enjoy a hot drink compliments of your boy!

Stay warm this weekend.....brutally cold here but no snow predicted!

Wow, that's cold! I've only been in -20 degree weather once--I get cold just thinking about it. I'm glad you have several means to stay warm. That cider looks so good! It's good to know they have mulling spices--here I only seem to find them in stores around Christmas. That spot in the sun does look warm and cozy.

Hi Susanne - Wow, it is cold where you are! We are having warm, early spring-like temperatures here. We need a little more cold and snow! I love all of your warm, cozy favorites on a frigid week. My husband has heated everything in his new Dodge Charger and I am totally jealous when he tells me about them. My vehicle has a good heater but no heated seats or steering wheel. I have never had that kind of cider. Sounds really good. Glad you found a nice place to sit in the sun and read for a bit. Sounds like the best thing to do this week where you are - curl up under a furry sherpa throw with a good book and stay in and stay warm. Have a good weekend. See you again soon!

Cold here in BC this week too, but not as cold as elsewhere in the country. At least it’s sunny!

I love all your warm favorites. We are in a cold spell, too, but not nearly as cold as yours! Stay warm:)

I am shivering here and we have barely gotten down into the teens F. You have great fortitude, Susanne! Stay warm! Those blankets sound like necessary cozies.

Love all your cozy faves -- having something snuggly for the sofa is so nice. Cider and mulling spices sounds delightful. I love how mulling makes the whole house smell festive and something delicious is in the wings. Here's to hoping for more sunshine, even if only through that glass door!

We are using many of those tactics to stay warm here, too. Not as cold as you experienced but frigid for sure. Happy Valentine's Day weekend to you!

So glad you have nice things to warm you in those temperatures. It's been cold here and we've had snow but it doesn't compare to your extremes. Stay warm this weekend!
