Friday's Fave Five #535

Here it is, Friday again so quickly.  The weeks just seem to be speeding by.  But that makes the FFF so important to me.  It forces me to slow down, hit the pause button and take a look at the blessings that grace my life over the last week.  Won't you join me in taking note of the good things God has blessed us with.  If you need the guidelines, just click the link in the sidebar and then join on in.

1.  Spending my Mother's Day gift.  Every year Hubby gives me his saved Canadian Tire money for my bedding out plants.  It so much fun going and browsing and deciding what kinds of flowers I want to plant that particular year.  This was no exception.  I finally got to go spend that money last weekend on a lovely and warm Saturday.

2. Cinnamon Chili Rub.  When in Edmonton we stopped at my favorite spice store, Silk Road Spice Merchant, and picked up some delicious spices I had run out of and maybe get a new one to try.  The staff were so knowledgeable and were so willing to answer all sorts of questions I had about different spices.  I finally made my choices and the lovely cashier offered me a sample size of Cinnamon Chili Rub.  I'd never tried anything like that before and decided I was going to rub a pork tenderloin with it, even though they recommended it for steak or roast.  It was delicious and all of us really enjoyed the new flavor.

3.  Rain showers.  After a hot day yesterday, the afternoon gave us a really good thundershower.  It has been so dry here so the rain was really a welcome event.  The coolness and freshness was really nice after the hot day

4.  Two dreaded appts over with.  I had been to see my family doctor about an issue I had been having with my throat for several months.  He decided to send me for a couple of tests and then to a throat specialist.  I was nervous about both the test and the specialist and what the visits would entail.  Though not pleasant it wasn't quite as bad as what I had built up in my head.  I'm glad they are finally over and done with.  And the biggest blessing is that I finally know what it probably is and most relieving , what it definitely isn't.

5.  Taxes finally signed off on and done for another year.  I am very blessed in that Hubby does the huge job of getting all our tax stuff together and dropped off to our tax person.  All was done and e-filed on time by her, and we finally signed off on them for another year.  That is a job that I am always thankful is finished with.

I love this quote by actress Doris Day, who passed away this month.  It really gives a great perspective and really is one of the reasons for Friday's Fave Five.

What were you favorite blessings of the past week?

I don't like garden work at all anymore and have put fake flowers in the pots, they are so nicely made that everybody thinks they are real ! Now the gardener has to come to cut the hedges and shrubs, huge work twice a year ! I am so fed up with the garden !

Great list of faves!
You can have some of NY's rain! We e had one of the rainiest springs on record. Today is gorgeous though so we awoke rejoicing! Glad you got your rain after a hot day.

The spices sound great!

Yay for getting taxes done and annoying medical issues solved! Praying all is well!

Enjoy the weekend Susanne.

It's always so nice to get new plants for the beds, and what a great way to pay for them. I usually have mine done by now but just haven't been motivated to do them yet.

That spice store sounds wonderful! I'm glad you had a good rain when needed. We had a lot there for a while, but it's been dry lately. We're due for some rain this afternoon: I hope it will cool things off and wash the pollen out of the air.

Glad the appointments and taxes are done and the throat issue wasn't the worst possibility. Hope you can get the right treatment and some relief soon.

Fun! Love that you have special funds for your bedding plants. And maybe some rain to settle them in.

Hurray for some relieving news about your throat. My dad was in for tests on his throat this week, too.

And I agree -- even if you aren't doing the heavy lifting, it feels good to have the taxes done and sent off.

Glad you got some good answers about your throat. That is a great quote by Doris Day. She was big in my growing up years. Hope your weekend is going well. Happy June to you!
